Use your browser’s Print command and select its PDF destination to save a webpage as a readable snapshot. A PDF preserves the content rendered for printing—not the website’s working interface, live data, or dependable interactive behavior—so check the preview and reopen the saved file before relying on it.
What a webpage PDF preserves—and what it does not
A browser-created PDF is useful for reading or sharing the page as it appeared in a print rendering at the time you saved it. It is not a working copy of the website: buttons, forms, changing server data, and other stateful behavior may not carry over. A page may also look different in print from how it appears on screen. Mozilla documents this print-versus-screen difference in its Firefox printing guidance.
Before printing, let the page load and open any tabs or expandable sections whose content you need. If the information must remain interactive or reflect future updates, keep the original URL as well as the PDF.

Save a webpage as a PDF on a computer
Google Chrome
- Open the webpage. Select File > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- In the print window, choose Save as PDF as the destination.
- Review the preview and print settings, then save the file.

Mozilla Firefox
- Open the page, open the menu, and choose Print.
- In print preview, set Destination to Save to PDF.
- Adjust the settings, then choose Print and save the PDF.
Firefox’s print controls include options such as orientation, page range, color, paper size, scale, pages per sheet, margins, headers and footers, and backgrounds. Simplified format may be available for a cleaner reading copy. Check the preview after changing it because simplification can alter what is included. See Mozilla Support.
Microsoft Edge
Open the page and use Edge’s print interface. Microsoft documents a clutter-free print option that removes surrounding material such as advertisements and site navigation. Review the preview and available settings, then select the PDF destination shown in your installed version. Microsoft’s guidance confirms the clutter-free option but does not specify one universal sequence of destination labels: Print in Microsoft Edge.

Save a webpage as a PDF on a phone
Chrome on Android
- Open the page and tap More > Share > Print.
- At the top of the print interface, select Save as PDF.
- Choose where to save the file and save it.

Safari on iPhone
- Open the webpage in Safari. Depending on the tab layout, tap the Page Menu or the Share button, then tap Share.
- Tap Markup. Add annotations if you want, then tap Done.
- Choose Save File To, name the file, and save it.

Check the PDF before you depend on it
- In print preview, look for missing text or images, awkward page breaks, and unsuitable scale, orientation, margins, or backgrounds.
- Save the PDF, then open it and confirm the important content is present.
- Keep the source URL and the date you saved the file with the PDF, especially if the page may change.
- If live behavior or updated information matters, retain access to the original page; the PDF alone is not an archive of its working service.
These checks follow from the print controls and documented differences between screen and print layouts; results depend on the page and browser.
When Safari on Mac’s Web Archive may fit better
If you want a saved webpage bundle rather than a PDF, Safari on Mac offers File > Save As options including Web Archive and Page Source. Apple says a Web Archive saves the page’s graphics and that its links work as long as the destination webpages remain available. It does not guarantee that server-dependent interactions or live services will keep working, and some webpages may prevent saving items. Web Archive is a separate format from PDF.
