Use your browser’s print function and save the claim-status page as a PDF. The PDF can document what appeared on your screen when you captured it, but it is not, by itself, a certified insurer record or proof that every complaint forum must accept. Keep it with relevant insurer emails, acknowledgements and claim documents.
Save the claim-status page as a PDF
- Open the insurer’s official website or app. Sign in and go to the relevant claim-status view. Do not include an OTP, password, full payment-card details or unrelated personal information in a copy you plan to share.
- Check what the page shows. Make sure the insurer’s name, claim reference (or a safely masked identifier), status message and any displayed update date are visible and legible. If the page is long, capture relevant sections separately or use the insurer’s own download or print option if available. Browser printing may omit material hidden behind tabs, scrolling areas or collapsed sections.
- Print to PDF. Follow the instructions for your device below, then inspect the preview before saving.
- Open the saved PDF. Confirm that the status and identifying context made it into the file and can be read. A descriptive filename such as
insurer-claim-status-2026-10-03.pdfcan make it easier to find; this is an example, not a required naming convention.
Desktop Chrome
On Windows or Linux, press Ctrl+P; on a Mac, press Command+P. In the print dialog, choose the PDF destination or Save as PDF, review the preview and save the file. See Google’s instructions for printing from Chrome on a computer.
Chrome on Android

Make the PDF useful as complaint support
Use the PDF as one item in a chronological record, not as the whole complaint. Alongside it, keep the insurer’s claim acknowledgement, grievance acknowledgement, written replies and receipts or other evidence showing which documents you submitted. Note the insurer, claim reference where appropriate, capture date and time, page URL, the displayed status, and what action or explanation you requested. This is practical record-keeping advice, not a format IRDAI says is mandatory.
Keep an unchanged private copy. If you need to share the record more widely and it contains sensitive details, make a separate redacted copy and retain the original privately. Do not alter the copy you rely on as your original capture.

A browser-generated PDF records a view rendered on your device at capture time. It can help document what you saw and when you say you saw it. The cited IRDAI guidance does not establish that the PDF alone authenticates the insurer’s internal records, cannot be altered, or must be accepted by every decision-maker. Keep related insurer communications and claim documents so the status-page capture has context.

IRDAI defines a complaint or grievance as a written expression of dissatisfaction, including communication by email or other electronic scripts, about an action or lack of action concerning service or a deficiency in service. It also says an inquiry or request is not a complaint or grievance. Read the IRDAI Grievance Cell definition when deciding how to frame your written complaint.
Escalate through the insurer and IRDAI
- Complain to the insurer first. Keep a copy of your submission and its acknowledgement.
- If you are dissatisfied or do not receive a response within a reasonable period, approach IRDAI. The regulator describes Bima Bharosa as a way to register complaints with insurers and track their status. Verify the live portal’s form and instructions before sending documents.
- Keep the IRDAI acknowledgement. IRDAI says Bima Bharosa sends a confirmation email and token number; the token can be used to track the complaint. Save the confirmation and later status updates.
IRDAI also lists Bima Bharosa, email, telephone and physical correspondence channels. Its listed email is complaints@irdai.gov.in and its toll-free numbers are 155255 and 1800 4254 732. Check the official pages for current filing instructions and contact details. The Bima Bharosa FAQ says an unresolved grievance after two weeks, or dissatisfaction with the response, can be taken to the IRDAI grievance cell; verify current instructions and timelines when filing.
