The right choice depends on whether you need searchable text or a faithful picture of the whole page.
Save a scrolling webpage as a PDF with Print to PDF
Printing is the quickest first method for most articles and other text-heavy pages. It creates a paginated PDF, so text is generally selectable and searchable rather than flattened into one long image. Page layout, backgrounds, pop-ups and embedded viewers can affect the result, so inspect the preview before saving.
- Open the webpage and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open the browser’s Print command: press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Cmd+P on Mac. You can also find Print in the browser menu.
- In the destination or printer selector, choose Save as PDF or the operating system’s PDF printer.
- Choose all pages, review the preview for missing sections, cut-off columns or blank pages, then save the file.
In Firefox, Mozilla’s instructions say to select Save to PDF in the drop-down menu to save the shown preview. The exact controls and output can vary across browsers, operating systems and webpages. If the preview shows only the visible portion or omits important content, try the full-page methods below.
Why does Print to PDF cut off the rest of the page?
Print creates paginated output from a page’s print layout; it is not always the same as capturing everything in a long scrolling view. A website can apply print-specific styling, and content in embedded viewers or interactive layouts may not appear as expected. Content that loads only as you scroll can also be missing if it never loaded before printing.

- Scroll through the page first. This can prompt lazy-loaded images or sections to appear before you print.
- Check the entire print preview. Look for missing sections, blank areas, clipped columns, repeated sticky headers and absent images.
- Try a full-page screenshot when the visual arrangement matters more than selectable text.
- Print the screenshot to PDF if you need a PDF file but the browser’s print layout is unusable. This makes the page image-based rather than ordinary searchable PDF text.
Capture an entire scrolling page in Firefox
Firefox offers a screenshot option for the whole document as well as one for the current viewport. Mozilla’s Firefox Help describes the full-document choice as Save full page; Save visible captures only what is on screen.
- Open the webpage in Firefox and let the content load.
- Open the Firefox screenshot interface using the browser’s screenshot control.
- Choose Save full page rather than Save visible.
- Save the resulting image. If you need a PDF container, open the image and print it to PDF using your operating system or browser.
This route is useful when print preview leaves out visual elements or the page is an app-like layout. The screenshot is an image, not a paginated text document, so text in it may not be selectable or searchable. Firefox Developer Tools also document whole-page screenshots and a --fullpage option for repeatable technical workflows; consult the Firefox Source Docs for the relevant developer-tools documentation.
Save a webpage as a PDF on iPhone in Safari
Apple documents a Safari workflow that saves a webpage as a PDF through Markup:

- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Tap the page menu or Share control, then tap Markup.
- Annotate the page if desired, then tap Done.
- Choose Save File To, name the file and save it.

Mac Safari: PDF versus Web Archive
Safari for Mac’s File > Save As is not its PDF export command. Apple documents two save formats there:
- Web Archive: saves the page with graphics; links may work while their destinations remain available.
- Page Source: saves the HTML source, not a PDF rendition of the page.
For a PDF, use Safari’s print dialog and choose the system PDF option. Apple explains the Save As formats in “Save part or all of a web page in Safari on Mac.”

Which method should you use?

Use a full-page capture extension if native options are not enough
A browser extension can scroll and stitch a long page into a full-page image, then offer PDF export. The GoFullPage Chrome Web Store listing claims lossless PNG and JPG, continuous PDF, paginated A4/Letter/Legal PDF and smart page splitting. These are vendor-listed capabilities, not independent test results, and features or availability can change. Before installing any extension, review its current permissions, privacy information and store listing.
Regardless of method, scroll the page before capture if it loads content on demand, then inspect the resulting file. Long pages, image-heavy content and PDF pagination can affect file size and readability; there is no single file-size or speed figure that applies to every site.

Troubleshooting: missing, clipped or unusable PDF output
The PDF contains only the visible screen
Check whether you used a visible-area screenshot instead of Firefox’s Save full page. If you used Print, check the page count and preview; if the full content is absent, scroll to load it and try printing again, or switch to a full-page capture.
Images or lower-page sections are missing
Some pages load content only when it approaches the viewport. Scroll down through the page before printing or capturing, wait for images and sections to appear, and inspect the output. If the page still omits content, try a full-page screenshot or extension.

Columns are clipped or layout looks wrong
Review the print preview for clipped columns and page breaks. If print styling damages a visual layout, capture the whole page as an image and print that image to PDF. Expect image-based output rather than selectable text.

Sticky headers repeat or blank sections appear
Look for repeated sticky elements or blank areas in the preview and final file. A full-page image capture may represent a long visual page more faithfully than print pagination, although dynamic content can still change while a page loads.
The PDF looks like a picture and text cannot be selected
That is expected when a screenshot has been printed to PDF: the PDF contains the captured image. For selectable, searchable text, use Print to PDF when its preview includes the content you need.
You need a PDF but Firefox saved an image
Firefox’s full-page screenshot is an image capture. Open the saved image and use the operating system’s or browser’s print command to choose a PDF destination.
