Open the insurance page after signing in, then take a screenshot using your phone’s built-in controls. On most Android phones, press Power + Volume Down; on an iPhone with Face ID, press Side + Volume Up; on an iPhone with a Home button, press Side + Home. For a page longer than the screen, use Android’s scrolling capture or Safari’s Full Page option where available. If you need the actual policy rather than a picture of the page, look for the insurer’s policy download or electronic-policy option.
Choose the right kind of record
A screenshot records what is displayed on your screen. It may be useful as a visual record or for a submission, but it is not necessarily an official copy of your insurance policy. Before capturing, check whether the insurer or the person requesting the information requires a particular file type or a downloaded policy document.

Take a screenshot on Android
- Sign in to the insurer’s website and open the page you need. Check that the information is visible and that unrelated private details are not on screen.
- Press Power and Volume Down at the same time. On some phones, you can instead hold Power for a few seconds and tap Screenshot.
- For a longer page, tap Capture more after taking the screenshot, then adjust the crop guides. Android’s built-in scrolling capture is available on Android 12 and later on most screens that allow scrolling; menus can vary by manufacturer.
- Find the saved image in Google Photos under Collections → On this device → Screenshots, or in your phone’s Gallery app. Review and crop it before sending.
Capture a long page in Chrome on Android
- With the logged-in page open in Chrome, tap More → Share → Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles to include the content you need, then tap Confirm.
- Save the image or share it to the intended destination, and inspect the saved result to make sure it includes the right material.
The Long screenshot menu may not appear on every device or page. Chrome also blocks screenshots in Incognito mode; open the page in a regular tab instead. Do not try to bypass a separate restriction imposed by the insurer or your device administrator.

Take a screenshot on iPhone or save a Safari page as a PDF
- On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release Side + Volume Up. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release Side + Home.
- Tap the screenshot preview to crop or annotate it, then save it. Screenshots are saved to Photos by default.
- To capture beyond the visible screen in Safari, tap the screenshot preview and choose Full Page. Save the result as an image in Photos or as a PDF in Files.
Safari’s Full Page option is for supported content such as a webpage; do not assume the same option is available in every app or browser.

Keep the image private and useful
A logged-in insurance page may show your name, policy number, address, claim details or other personal information. Keep only what the task requires, check the final image, and share it through the recipient’s specified channel. If you are submitting evidence to the insurer, follow its instructions for accepted image or document formats.

For an actual policy record, check whether the insurer offers a download or electronic-policy option. IRDAI describes Insurance Repositories as a way for policyholders to keep policies electronically and access policy details through an online portal, including through an e-Insurance Account. Availability depends on the particular policy and service.
A Press Information Bureau release dated 12 February 2021 reported that an IRDAI circular dated 9 February 2021 advised insurers to enable their IT systems to interact with DigiLocker so policyholders could preserve policy documents there. That advice does not establish that every insurer or policy is currently available through DigiLocker; verify with the insurer or service.

Troubleshooting
- The button combination does nothing: On Android, try holding Power and tapping Screenshot. If neither method works, consult the phone manufacturer’s support instructions; capture controls vary by device. On iPhone, press and release the correct combination quickly.
- There is no scrolling or Full Page option: The feature depends on the device, operating-system version, app and page. Try Chrome’s Long screenshot on Android or Safari’s Full Page option on iPhone for a webpage. If unavailable, capture the necessary visible sections separately only if that suits the recipient’s requirements.
- Chrome says screenshots are blocked: If the page is open in Incognito mode, switch to a regular tab. If a portal or device policy still blocks capture, ask the insurer or administrator for an approved way to provide the information rather than bypassing the restriction.
- The image is incomplete or hard to read: Reopen the page, make sure the needed information is loaded and legible, then capture again. For a long capture, adjust the crop boundary and inspect the saved image before sharing.
- The recipient rejects the file: Ask which format and submission method are accepted. A screenshot is an image; a PDF or downloaded policy may be required instead.
