Save a full-page PNG in Firefox on desktop
Mozilla’s Firefox screenshot guide, last updated June 15, 2026, describes a full-page image download and shows an example filename with the .png extension.

- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and select Take Screenshot. You can also use Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Choose Save full page.
- Download the image to your computer. Check the downloaded filename and extension if a particular file type is required.
Firefox also offers a selected-area capture and a visible-area capture. Choose one of those instead when you only need part of the page; they are not substitutes for the full-page option when you need content below the fold. If a menu label or shortcut differs in your installation, use the current Firefox interface rather than assuming an older control is still present.
Capture and save a full webpage in Microsoft Edge
Microsoft’s Edge Screenshot feature page documents a full-page capture and saving the capture to files. It also describes selected-area capture and markup. The cited page does not specify the saved image’s extension, so do not rely on it as proof that the output is PNG.
- Open the page in Edge.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S, or right-click the page and open Screenshot.
- Select Capture full page.
- Use the on-screen controls to save the capture to files.
- If the extension matters, inspect the saved file or choose a workflow that explicitly documents the required format.
Microsoft cautions that feature availability and functionality may vary by device type, market, and browser version. If the Screenshot command is missing or the controls differ, update Edge if appropriate and check the feature in the version and region you are using.
Save a full-page screenshot as a PDF on iPhone
Apple’s iOS 27 screenshot guide documents capturing content beyond the visible screen and saving a full-page capture as a PDF in Files. Apple summarizes the capability this way: “You can capture what’s on your iPhone screen, grab a full page beyond the edge of the screen, or save a specific portion.” The documented export here is PDF, not PNG.

- Take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, press and release the Side button and Volume Up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, press and release Home and Side together.
- Tap the screenshot preview that appears.
- Tap Full Page in the preview.
- Choose Save PDF to Files.
- Select a destination in Files and complete the save.
The button combination depends on the iPhone model. If the preview does not offer Full Page, make sure you are capturing a supported scrollable page, such as a webpage in Safari, and check the controls available on your iOS version.
Save a full-page PDF from Firefox for iOS
Mozilla’s Firefox for iOS guide, created January 5, 2023, describes a full-page capture that ends with saving as PDF. Its interface instructions are older than Apple’s iOS 27 guide, so labels may differ in the Firefox and iOS versions currently installed.
- Open the webpage in Firefox for iOS.
- Take an iPhone screenshot using the hardware buttons for your model.
- Open the screenshot preview and select Full Page.
- Tap Done, then choose Save as PDF.
- Choose where to save the PDF.
If the options do not match these labels, use the current app’s controls or Apple’s documented iPhone route above. This Firefox guide documents PDF output; it does not establish a PNG export path.
What to do if you need the other format
If you need PNG but have an iPhone
The documented iPhone full-page routes here save as PDF. They do not document saving that full-page capture as PNG. If PNG is mandatory, use a desktop route that documents image output, such as Firefox’s full-page image download, or use a capture service that supports image output from a URL.

If you need PDF but are using desktop Edge or Firefox
The cited desktop instructions establish image capture for Firefox and file saving for Edge, but they do not document a PDF export path. Do not assume that a screenshot saved by either workflow is a PDF. Use a route that explicitly offers PDF output, such as the iPhone workflow above, or a service whose documentation supports PDF capture.
If you only need a shareable page record
Pick based on the recipient’s use: PNG is an image, while PDF is a document format. Check the final file type before sending or uploading it, particularly after a workflow whose official instructions do not state the extension.
Optional: use an extension or a URL-based capture
A Chrome Web Store listing for Full Page Screen Capture advertises full-page capture and PNG and PDF output. The listing alone does not establish the extension’s current permission scope, privacy practices, pricing, export limits, or processing location. Review those details in the current listing and the developer’s policies before installing it, especially if pages contain private or work information.

Troubleshooting full-page captures
The capture stops at the visible screen
Check that you selected the full-page option, not the visible-area or selected-area capture. In Firefox, choose Save full page; in Edge, choose Capture full page; on iPhone, choose Full Page in the screenshot preview.

Shortcuts and menu labels can change. Open the browser’s current right-click or screenshot menu and check its version and device availability. Edge specifically notes that functionality may vary by device, market, and browser version. On iPhone, confirm that the screenshot preview is open and inspect the available controls.

The file is not in the format you expected
Distinguish between what the tool captures and what it exports. Firefox desktop’s cited guide demonstrates an image download with a PNG example filename; Apple and Firefox for iOS document PDF saves; Edge’s cited page does not name an extension. Check the actual downloaded file rather than renaming its extension, which does not convert its contents.
A page looks incomplete
Some pages reveal content only after scrolling or loading. If a native capture misses material, try scrolling through the page first and capturing again, or use a tool designed to load full-page content. This is a practical workaround, not a guarantee that every dynamic page will render identically to a fully loaded browser session.
Pick the workflow by output, not just by browser
Use Firefox desktop when the requirement is a documented full-page image, and the iPhone workflow when the requirement is a documented PDF. Edge provides convenient built-in capture and markup, but its feature page does not identify the exported extension. For a browser extension or URL-based tool, confirm the format and privacy terms before relying on it. Those distinctions prevent the common mistake of treating “full page” as if it also specified the file type.
