You can run recorded tuition videos as a continuous YouTube Live stream with OBS Studio on a laptop: add a local lesson video as a Media Source and enable Loop, or use OBS’s VLC Video source for a looping playlist. The laptop must stay powered on, awake, connected to the internet, and running OBS for the broadcast to continue. This guide covers setup, testing, interruptions, replay limits, and an option that runs in the cloud instead.
Before you start: check that the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well ahead of the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
You will also need the recorded lessons saved on the laptop, OBS Studio, a sustained internet connection with adequate upload capacity, and permission to stream all content in the recordings.

Option 1: loop one lesson
- Install and open OBS Studio, then create or select a scene for the broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source. Name the source, then select OK.
- In the Media Source properties, select the local lesson file. Turn on Loop, then select OK. OBS will restart the video when it reaches the end. The OBS documentation describes this control in its Media Sources guide.
- Check the preview. Confirm that the picture fits the canvas and that lesson audio is audible through the intended audio source.
Option 2: loop several lessons
- In Sources, select + and choose VLC Video. This source type requires VLC to be installed; without it, the source may not appear.
- Add the lesson files in the desired order to the playlist.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties and verify the order and playback in the OBS preview.
Use a title card or schedule only if it helps learners. Keep any text large enough to read on a phone. OBS documents the looping controls, but there is no universally correct resolution, bitrate, or laptop specification for every file and connection; test the actual setup rather than relying on a generic preset.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to open Live Control Room. Create or schedule an encoder stream.
- In the stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key shown by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in a screenshot, public chat, or screen share.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream URL and key as required by the selected service configuration. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the stream URL and key workflow.
- Start the stream from OBS and watch the Live Control Room preview until YouTube indicates that it is receiving the signal. Open the watch page separately as a viewer to confirm the broadcast is visible and that picture and audio are correct.
Choose settings and test the real connection
Use your measured upload speed, not download speed, to judge whether the connection can carry the broadcast. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload headroom beyond the total stream bitrate; this is a recommendation, not a guarantee against interruptions. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
The available sources do not establish one ideal OBS resolution, bitrate, keyframe interval, or encoding preset for an unknown laptop, video format, and connection. Avoid copying settings intended for different equipment. Run a test broadcast with the actual lesson and monitor OBS and Live Control Room for dropped frames, audio problems, or buffering. If the upload link is unstable or the laptop struggles, lower the output demands and retest.

- Intel Celeron N4120: 4 Cores & Threads, 1.1GHz Base Clock, Up to 2.6GHz Boost Clock, 4MB Cache, Intel UHD Graphics 600. The perfect combination of performance, power consumption, and value helps your device handle multitasking smoothly and reliably with four processing cores to divide up the work.
After going live, check the stream from another device or browser as a viewer. Confirm lesson audio, video, and any on-screen text remain usable, and keep an eye on the connection and OBS status. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring the stream; details are in its livestreaming tips.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Keep the laptop broadcast running unattended
This method depends on the laptop and OBS continuously sending the stream. Keep the laptop connected to power, prevent sleep or hibernation for the planned broadcast, and ensure the internet connection remains available. A power loss, sleep setting, OBS crash, or network disruption can interrupt the stream. Test your own power and upload arrangements; there is no India-wide connection speed or backup-power requirement established here.

If the stream stops, check that the laptop is awake and online, OBS is still running, the lesson source is playing, and YouTube is receiving the signal. If needed, reconnect OBS using the current stream settings in Live Control Room. Do not publish or share the stream key while troubleshooting.
Plan for the replay separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete replay matters, plan sessions shorter than 12 hours and keep a local recording as a backup. Very long streams may also have limited or unavailable DVR rewind. See YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance.

Check copyright and permissions before broadcasting
You are responsible for having the rights to stream the lesson and everything included in it: teaching recordings, slides, music, clips, and images. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to hold the rights needed for worldwide use on Google services, including relevant music licensing rights. Review each recording before putting it on a public or unlisted broadcast; a class recording is not automatically cleared just because you created the lesson.
Cost and continuity trade-offs
OBS Studio provides a laptop-based way to loop files, but it requires the laptop, power, and internet to stay operational. YouTube’s encoder guidance also identifies cloud services as an option for continuous prerecorded video. Their India availability, cost, and suitability vary and should be checked with each provider.

If the channel is eligible, YouTube may offer live-stream monetization through ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, or channel memberships. Eligibility and settings apply, and YouTube does not guarantee that ad slots will serve. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance; do not treat potential monetization as assured income.
