To run multiple Indian music playlists in one continuous YouTube broadcast, combine the tracks in a media player or playlist-automation setup, send that output through a software or hardware encoder, and connect the encoder to a YouTube Live event with its server URL and stream key. YouTube supports continuous encoder streams, but playlist ordering, transitions, and restart behavior must be handled by your chosen playback setup—not YouTube Studio. Before streaming, secure the rights for every recording and composition; a playlist or a successful test does not grant rebroadcast permission.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel eligible to stream live. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it in advance.
- A media player or playlist-automation workflow that can feed the desired sequence of tracks into one continuous output.
- An encoder: either software running on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder. Dedicated hardware is optional.
- The YouTube Live server URL and stream key for the event. Treat the key like a password; do not publish or share it.
- Permission to use each composition and sound recording in a live broadcast, plus a plan for any Content ID matches and for saving a complete archive.
YouTube’s encoder workflow supports continuous streams, but its setup instructions do not prescribe a particular application, playlist format, crossfade method, or tested way to rotate several music playlists. You will need to configure and test those parts in your own playback and encoder setup.
Clear the Indian music rights first
Do not assume a YouTube playlist, personal music subscription, public upload, or successful test stream gives you the right to rebroadcast a track. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the channel operator to hold the rights needed for the live content, including relevant music rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. The exact licensing route depends on the songs and recordings you choose; there is no single clearance established here for all Indian music.
Make a track-by-track rights list
For each recording—including alternate versions, remixes, film songs, devotional tracks and independent releases—identify the relevant composition and sound-recording rights holders. Confirm in writing that your permission covers:

- Live streaming on YouTube and the territories in which viewers may access it.
- Monetization, if you plan to monetize.
- Any recording or replay archive you intend to retain or make available.
- The actual channel that will broadcast the material.
YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music in a live stream. That is practical guidance, not a guarantee that a particular track is cleared. Keep the written permissions and ask the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist if needed.
Plan for automated copyright checks
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning, replacement of the output with a placeholder, or interruption or termination of the stream. A licence may not prevent automated interruption unless the relevant rights owner has allowlisted the channel. Ask about allowlisting for the exact channel and catalogue before relying on a licence. If a stream is restricted or interrupted, check YouTube Studio for the notice and follow YouTube’s resolution process.

YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That figure is platform-wide; it does not describe Indian music audiences or the likely reach of a 24/7 music stream.
Set up the YouTube Live event and encoder
- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, complete the channel’s live-stream activation and verification steps. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, create a live stream or schedule one. Copy the event’s server URL and stream key.
- Connect the encoder. In your encoder, enter the YouTube server URL and stream key. Use the encoder’s supported YouTube ingest option; hardware and software encoders are both possible.
- Connect your playlist output. Configure the media player or automation system to feed the ordered tracks into the encoder as one continuous audio/video source. YouTube Studio does not combine separate playlists for you.
- Preview before going public. Check the event preview and confirm that the intended audio is reaching YouTube before starting the broadcast.
- Start and monitor the event. Verify the live output on the watch page and on a mobile device. Keep an eye on audio, video, and the encoder throughout operation.
YouTube’s list of verified encoders can help you find products, but YouTube says those products are not made by YouTube; evaluate compatibility and operation for yourself. The official material does not establish an independent performance winner between software and hardware encoding.

Configure playlist order, transitions, and recovery
Build one sequence that the encoder receives continuously, even if it draws from several named playlists. Before a public run, decide how the playback workflow should behave at playlist boundaries, on track changes, and after a restart. These are choices for the media player or automation setup; YouTube does not specify a playlist-rotation recipe.
Decisions to test
- Order and rotation: Set the intended sequence and decide whether playlists play in order, rotate, or repeat. Confirm what happens when the final item ends.
- Transitions: Decide whether tracks should be gapless or use a transition such as a crossfade. Listen to boundary changes in a test stream; do not assume a player setting produces the result you want at the encoder output.
- On-screen information: Decide whether to show track or playlist names, and how that information will be updated. Do not display material you are not authorized to use.
- Restart behavior: Test whether the player resumes the current item, restarts a playlist, or advances after a player or encoder restart. Make sure the encoder reconnects to the intended event.
- Monitoring and backup: Decide who or what will notice a stalled player, lost encoder connection, or silent output, and how you will restore service. YouTube’s tips discuss monitoring and failover testing for backup encoders, but do not promise a particular recovery time or reliability rate.
Choose software or dedicated hardware

Test the full stream before relying on it
- Run a test event or otherwise preview the output before the public broadcast.
- Listen for continuous audio, playlist-boundary gaps, unexpected repeats, and incorrect source selection.
- Confirm the correct event is live and accessible from its watch page and a mobile device.
- Test the player and encoder restart behavior. If you have a backup encoder, test the failover rather than assuming it will work.
- If an archive matters, check that any local recording is being written and growing as expected.
YouTube recommends previewing and monitoring streams and checking local archive files. A test verifies the workflow at that moment; it does not establish rights to the music or guarantee uninterrupted operation.

YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete recording matters, make a local recording backup. You can also plan to end and restart sessions before they exceed 12 hours, but that creates a viewer interruption and requires restarting the encoder and event cleanly. Decide which archive method you need before going live.

Troubleshooting common failures
