To loop one prerecorded product demo on YouTube, add it to OBS as a Media Source and enable Loop. For several demos, use a VLC Video source with a playlist. On a low-power PC, start with a modest output resolution and frame rate, choose an encoder the computer can handle, and test the complete stream before relying on it. OBS can repeat the video; it cannot keep the stream online if the PC, power, or internet connection fails.
Choose the kind of loop you need
A single prerecorded clip, a rotation of finished videos, and an unattended channel running continuously are different setups. OBS can loop a file or playlist, but a local stream still depends on the computer and its connection. If the demo needs a live camera, changing overlays, or operator interaction, keep those requirements in mind: a prerecorded-video loop is not a substitute for real-time production.
| Setup | Best for | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| OBS Media Source | One prerecorded demo | Simple to configure; plays one selected file |
| OBS VLC Video playlist | Several finished demos in sequence | Requires VLC installed and a configured playlist |
| Local OBS broadcast | Live camera input, overlays, operator changes, or local control | The PC, power, and local internet stay in the broadcast path |
| Cloud loop service | Uploaded finished clips intended for unattended replay | Depends on the service and does not provide live camera production unless that is separately supported |
Build the loop in OBS
Loop one demo file
- Open OBS and select the scene that will contain the demo.
- In Sources, choose + > Media Source, name the source, and select OK.
- Choose the local video file. Enable Loop, then select OK.
- Check the preview. Resize or position the source so the product is visible without cropping important details.
OBS supports MP4 and several other video formats. Its Media Source settings also offer hardware decoding; enable it only if the computer has a suitable decoder and confirm that playback remains smooth. See the OBS Media Sources documentation.
Loop several demos
- Install VLC if it is not already installed.
- In OBS, select + in Sources > VLC Video.
- Add the demo files to the source playlist and arrange them in the order you want.
- Enable Loop Playlist if it is not enabled. OBS documents this option as enabled by default.
- Preview transitions between clips and check that the last-to-first transition works as intended.
Playlist and source options can vary with the installed software versions. If the VLC Video source is unavailable, confirm VLC is installed and restart OBS. OBS documents the available media-source settings at Media Sources.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming workflow and enable live streaming if this is your first broadcast. YouTube says initial activation can take up to 24 hours.
- In the live control workflow, copy the stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube or the appropriate service option, and enter the connection details as prompted. Use the stream URL and key supplied by YouTube.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel; do not expose it in a screen capture or public post.
- Start streaming from OBS, then confirm the incoming preview and stream health in YouTube Live Control Room before treating the setup as ready.
YouTube’s encoder workflow covers getting connected and managing a live broadcast. If the first activation is still pending, wait for YouTube’s activation process rather than repeatedly changing OBS settings.
Choose settings a low-power PC can sustain
There is no universally safe resolution or encoder setting for an unspecified low-power PC. The result depends on the CPU, GPU and its encoder, operating system, media file, scene complexity, and stable upload capacity. Begin with OBS’s Tools > Auto-Configuration Wizard, which considers intended use, hardware, and network conditions. Then test and adjust for the actual demo.
Resolution and frame rate
Use an output resolution and frame rate suited to both the source and the audience. If OBS struggles, reduce output resolution or frame rate before adding more sources or effects. Sixty frames per second can demand substantially more resources than 30 fps. For a product demo, prioritize legible product details and smooth-enough motion over a high output setting the PC cannot maintain.

Encoder
Check which encoders are actually available in OBS. If the PC has a supported hardware encoder, it can move encoding work off the CPU; OBS generally recommends hardware encoding for performance, while warning that earlier-generation hardware encoders may produce lower image quality. Options can include NVENC, AMD AMF, and Intel Quick Sync, subject to hardware and platform support. Do not select by brand name alone: test the available encoder with the intended output. If hardware encoding is unavailable or performs poorly, try the software encoder at a reduced resolution or frame rate.
OBS explains the tradeoffs in its hardware encoding guide. For dropped or overloaded frames, follow its encoding performance troubleshooting steps. OBS also publishes system requirements; meeting a minimum requirement does not guarantee a particular stream profile will work well.
Bitrate and keyframes for YouTube
YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance specifies RTMP/RTMPS ingest, CBR, and a recommended keyframe interval of two seconds; do not exceed four seconds. For H.264, its table recommends these starting bitrates:

| Output profile | YouTube H.264 bitrate recommendation | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | Google / YouTube encoder settings page accessed 2026; starting reference, not a guarantee |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | Google / YouTube encoder settings page accessed 2026; starting reference, not a guarantee |
Choose a bitrate the upload connection can sustain reliably, leaving capacity for normal network variation and other household or office traffic. Run a speed test and check YouTube’s stream-health feedback; a headline upload speed does not prove the connection will remain stable. YouTube’s current guidance also lists H.265 and AV1 options, but availability depends on the encoder and workflow. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the applicable options.

A loop does not grant permission to rebroadcast the demo’s music, video, product footage, or other copyrighted material. Use content you own, have licensed, or are otherwise authorized to stream, and check the rights for every playlist item. YouTube’s copyright and monetization decisions are separate from whether OBS can play a file; repeated or reused material is not automatically eligible for monetization simply because it is live.

Plan the archive separately from the loop. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume one uninterrupted broadcast longer than 12 hours will create a complete automatic replay. If a complete recording matters, arrange a separate recording or split the broadcast into sessions, and verify the resulting archive. See the YouTube encoder workflow.
