To keep an OBS stream running from a Jio laptop, the laptop must stay powered on and awake; turning off the display is different from putting the system to sleep. Set the laptop’s actual sleep behavior in its operating system, keep it powered and ventilated, and test the complete setup before relying on it. JioBook models and operating systems can differ, so first identify yours rather than following a menu path that may not apply.

What “without sleep mode” means for OBS

OBS runs on the laptop and sends its encoded video to YouTube. If the laptop sleeps or powers off, OBS cannot continue sending the stream. The screen can turn off without necessarily putting the computer to sleep, but the result depends on the operating system and its power settings. Configure system sleep—not just display timeout—and check what happens when you close the lid before attempting a closed-lid setup.

An OBS support-forum answer puts the basic requirement simply: “Your PC must be fully on in order to stream.” That is general guidance, not a JioBook-specific compatibility statement. OBS Project Forum: Can I Stream While My PC Is Off.

Identify the model and operating system

Find the exact JioBook model and the operating system version installed on it. The available Jio product specifications do not establish a single OBS-compatible configuration or give a model-specific sleep-settings path. Menu names and available OBS packages can vary by OS and version, so do not assume instructions for Windows or another JioBook edition apply to yours.

Check OBS compatibility and performance

Download OBS only from the official OBS Project site if a compatible version is available for your installed OS. OBS cautions that a compatible system is not necessarily capable of streaming or recording; CPU demand varies with encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Start with OBS’s Tools > Auto Configuration Wizard for suggested settings, then test the actual scene and quality you intend to use. See the OBS system requirements and OBS laptop troubleshooting guidance.

Jio’s published JioBook specifications list a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor, 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM, 64 GB onboard storage (expandable up to 256 GB), and say the laptop “Enables more than 8 hours of non-stop usage.” Those specifications do not demonstrate that a particular unit can encode a chosen scene continuously for 24 hours. The usage claim is not a guarantee of 24/7 streaming. JioBook technical specifications.

Set up YouTube and OBS

  1. Enable YouTube live streaming. In YouTube Studio, check that live streaming is enabled for your channel. YouTube says a verified channel must have no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days; first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours. Check the current instructions in YouTube’s encoder streaming guide.
  2. Create or select an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Open the stream’s Live Control Room and obtain its stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
  3. Enter the connection details in OBS. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service if it is available in your OBS version, and connect using the stream key or the offered account-connection method. If entering details manually, use the stream URL and key provided by YouTube; do not copy a key from an unrelated broadcast.
  4. Build and inspect the scene. Add the intended video, capture sources, images, and audio. Confirm the correct microphone or media audio source is active, levels are not clipping, and the preview displays what you intend to broadcast. Keep the scene as simple as practical for the laptop’s processing capacity.
  5. Choose settings conservatively, then verify them. Use the Auto Configuration Wizard as a starting point. No single resolution, frame rate, or bitrate is established as suitable for every JioBook: the model, encoder, scene, and available upload connection matter. Check YouTube’s current computer live-streaming tips for encoder guidance rather than guessing a universal bitrate.
  6. Start OBS and confirm the YouTube preview. Click Start Streaming in OBS, then wait for the stream to appear in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Check the preview and stream-health indicators before treating the broadcast as live for viewers.

Keep the laptop awake for the intended run

  1. Find the OS power controls. Open the installed operating system’s power or battery settings and set automatic system sleep to remain disabled for the power state you will use while streaming. The exact labels and location depend on OS and version; the reviewed Jio materials do not verify one universal JioBook menu path.
  2. Distinguish display timeout from system sleep. You may choose to let the display turn off, but verify that the separate system-sleep setting remains disabled. A blank screen alone does not prove OBS has stopped; system sleep does.
  3. Check lid behavior before closing it. If you want the lid closed, determine whether closing it sleeps, hibernates, or otherwise changes power behavior on your particular laptop and OS. Test that exact condition while monitoring OBS and YouTube. Do not assume an external display or power connection overrides lid behavior.
  4. Keep the laptop on power and unobstructed. Use a suitable power source and place the laptop so its vents are not blocked. A 24/7 run also depends on the network and power remaining available; an awake laptop alone cannot ensure an uninterrupted broadcast.
  5. Run a realistic test. Test using the same power source, network, scenes, encoding settings, and display or lid state planned for the longer run. Watch both OBS and YouTube’s preview and stream-quality indicators, and look for disconnects or performance trouble before leaving the stream unattended. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream quality in its live-streaming tips.

What to know about a 24-hour broadcast and its archive

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise that a 24-hour broadcast will be archived as one video, so do not rely on a single complete replay being available afterward. If keeping a recording matters, plan and verify a separate recording workflow and available storage before going live. See YouTube’s encoder guide.

Troubleshoot common failures

Symptom Likely cause What to check or do
OBS stops sending when the display goes dark or the lid closes. The laptop may be sleeping or responding to the lid action. Check system sleep and lid behavior separately in the installed OS. Repeat a monitored test in the exact display and lid state you plan to use.
OBS says it is streaming, but YouTube has no usable preview. The stream may not yet be connected, or the stream URL/key or YouTube setup may be wrong. Confirm live streaming is enabled, the correct encoder stream is selected, and OBS uses that stream’s current URL/key. Wait for the Live Control Room preview and check its status before announcing the broadcast.
The picture stutters, drops frames, or the stream becomes unstable. The selected encoder settings or scene may exceed what the laptop or network can sustain. Simplify the scene, use the Auto Configuration Wizard for a starting point, and test lower-demand settings. Check OBS statistics and YouTube stream health while testing; performance cannot be inferred from the JioBook specification alone.
The stream disconnects after running for a while. The connection, power, or laptop state may have changed. Check that the laptop stayed awake and powered, the network remained connected, and the Live Control Room reports a healthy incoming stream. Test the same conditions for a longer period while monitoring.
The stream is live, but a complete replay is missing. A 24-hour stream is longer than YouTube’s stated under-12-hour automatic archive threshold. Do not assume YouTube will preserve the full 24-hour broadcast as one archive. Arrange a separate recording if you need a replay.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the content is prerecorded and your Jio laptop cannot stay on, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube stream running from uploaded videos in the cloud: upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
