You can run a 24/7 Indian devotional music stream on YouTube with a phone or webcam setup, or an encoder-based setup—but the first requirement is a music library you are allowed to broadcast continuously. Verify and enable YouTube Live at least 24 hours before a first broadcast, test the full setup as an unlisted stream, and arrange Content ID allowlisting with rights holders when needed. A licence alone does not ensure YouTube will leave a stream uninterrupted.
Start with the rights to every recording
Do not assume a bhajan, kirtan, Gurbani shabad, or other devotional song is free to stream because its composition is traditional or its subject is religious. The underlying composition and a particular recording or arrangement can involve different rights. For each track, identify the relevant rights holders and keep written permission or licence documents for the exact recording and planned use.

Confirm the permitted uses
Ask the rights holder or its label or distributor whether permission covers continuous YouTube livestreaming, the territories you intend to serve, monetization, and any archive or replay of the stream. If the rights holder uses Content ID, ask it to add your channel to its allowlist before going live. YouTube notes that even a licensed stream may be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted, and recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using protected music (YouTube copyright guidance for live streams; YouTube for Artists).

Enable YouTube Live and test before launch
- Verify the channel and enable live streaming. If this is the channel’s first live broadcast, complete YouTube’s verification and live-access process at least 24 hours before the planned start; first-time access may take that long to activate (YouTube live streaming help).
- Run an unlisted test. Before announcing the channel, test the complete audio path, visuals, stream metadata, and the operator’s recovery steps in an unlisted broadcast. YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test before going live (YouTube for Artists: going live for music channels).
- Check the intended replay behavior. YouTube’s developer documentation describes broadcast and stream controls, including test stages and recording or DVR-related settings. Those controls do not promise uninterrupted 24/7 operation or indefinite archiving of one continuous stream. Decide how you need the broadcast to be recorded and replayed, and check the applicable settings before launch (YouTube Live Streaming API documentation).
Choose a way to send the stream
YouTube describes an encoder as an option for more customization and control than a simple mobile or webcam stream; it does not require dedicated encoder hardware for this kind of channel. Choose based on how much control you need over the visual feed, audio path, stream settings, and recovery process—not on an assumption that a particular device guarantees reliability. The official guidance cited here does not establish a preferred encoder model or a comparative cost or uptime figure.
- Simple mobile or webcam approach: suitable when its available controls and your operating plan meet the needs of the broadcast.
- Encoder-based approach: consider it when you need additional control over the stream. An encoder is an option, not a prerequisite.
Whichever approach you choose, use the unlisted test to confirm the actual audio, visuals, metadata, and response plan before relying on it for a public continuous stream.

Plan for rights warnings and interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects protected material, it may show a placeholder, issue warnings, interrupt the stream, or terminate it if the content remains or the channel receives a strike. A Content ID claim may also be made after a live stream ends if it is archived (YouTube copyright guidance for live streams).

- Assign someone to monitor YouTube Studio and the live feed, and to respond to warnings or an outage.
- Keep permission and licence records accessible so the operator can quickly check the relevant track and rights terms.
- Prepare a lawful replacement schedule rather than filling a gap with unverified recordings.
- If a stream stops, check Studio for restrictions or strikes and resolve the issue there; do not assume that restarting alone fixes the underlying rights problem.
These are practical operating precautions, not a guarantee of uptime or a platform-approved recovery procedure. YouTube’s live-stream documentation describes testing and recording controls, but does not promise a 24/7 service.

Keep the channel useful to its audience
Make the stream’s title and description clear about its devotional focus and the type of programming viewers can expect. YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a platform-wide figure, not a measure of demand for devotional streams specifically (YouTube for Artists).
