To run a Gujarati news channel on YouTube around the clock, first decide whether you mean a staffed, changing live newsroom broadcast or a stream that loops prerecorded segments. For live reporting, connect a newsroom encoder to YouTube Live Control Room and build a tested plan for staffing, backup signals, monitoring, rights, and handovers. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. A continuous 24-hour session also should not be treated as a guaranteed complete replay: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.
Choose what “always-on” means for your newsroom
A 24/7 channel is a programming and operations commitment, not just a stream key left running. Decide which of these formats you are building, and label the on-screen content honestly so viewers can tell whether a report is live, recorded, or delayed.
- Continuously changing live newsroom: Reporters, presenters, or control-room staff can provide live coverage and make editorial decisions as news develops. This requires a staffed handoff plan and a live production chain.
- Live bulletins plus recorded segments: A presenter or operator switches between live updates and clearly identified prerecorded material. Decide who can interrupt the rundown for breaking news.
- Prerecorded loop: Uploaded video plays repeatedly as a YouTube live stream. This can keep a channel active, but it does not provide reporters, verify breaking news, or replace editorial control.

Those examples identify categories to investigate, not endorsements or proof that a service fits a Gujarati live-news operation. Confirm the channel can go live
- Verify the YouTube channel if it has not already been verified.
- Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube lists this as an eligibility condition.
- If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation. Do not schedule a launch that depends on immediate first-time access.
Set up the event in Live Control Room
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room.
- Create a stream or schedule one. Set the Gujarati title, description, visibility, thumbnail, and stream settings for the intended program.
- For a scheduled event, use its shareable URL to publicize the broadcast and give viewers the option to set a reminder.
- Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key shown for the stream. Treat the key like a password: keep it out of public screenshots and documents, and rotate it if it is exposed.
Creating or scheduling the event, starting the encoder, and confirming the incoming feed are separate steps. Creating an event alone does not put a picture on air.

Connect and configure the newsroom encoder
YouTube describes an encoder as software or standalone hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. For a multi-camera Gujarati newsroom, YouTube describes a production setup using multiple microphones, cameras, and a mixer; choose equipment around the actual room, program, and operator skill rather than assuming one configuration fits every channel.
- Connect the cameras, microphones, and mixer to the production system or hardware encoder.
- In the encoder, enter the YouTube server URL and stream key copied from Live Control Room. Restrict access to those credentials to the production staff who need them.
- Set the output resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to match the production source, available uplink, and the encoder’s supported settings. Test the actual combination from the venue and ISP before launch, with network capacity beyond the stream’s measured demand.
- Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview or feed to appear in Live Control Room. Check both picture and sound there.
- Use the required Go Live control in YouTube once the incoming feed is ready. Confirm from a separate viewer device that the public stream is playing and intelligible.
There is no universal bitrate prescription in the cited NIC checklist for YouTube. NIC specifies 2–4 Mbps of dedicated bandwidth per stream for its described hired-agency webcast setup; that figure is not a YouTube encoder setting or a guarantee that a particular resolution will work. Test the complete chain at the target resolution, frame rate, and bitrate over the actual internet connection.

Plan staffing, monitoring, and recovery
A continuous news feed needs a named person responsible for stream health during every shift. YouTube and NIC explain parts of the encoder and network setup; they do not certify that a newsroom has redundant equipment or uninterrupted service. Treat continuity as a newsroom responsibility.

Before launch
- Assign an operator for each shift and a named backup for staff changes or breaking-news handoffs.
- Prepare a standby slate or alternate feed that can be switched in if the program feed fails.
- Test encoder reconnect and restart behavior, and monitor audio as well as video.
- Evaluate backup power, a second internet path, encoder redundancy, and a separate local recording according to the newsroom’s availability needs.
- Write down who starts and ends sessions, where authorized staff retrieve credentials, how to switch to backup, and how to contact the ISP or equipment vendor.
During the broadcast
- Monitor the stream from outside the production system as well as from the encoder preview; the public viewer experience is the one that matters.
- Watch for frozen video, silent or distorted audio, dropped connections, and an incorrect program or slate.
- Keep the handoff between shifts explicit: confirm who owns the stream, current feed, and next action if the connection fails.
Design for Gujarati viewers on horizontal and vertical screens
YouTube supports horizontal and vertical live presentations. Its vertical live experience can be discovered in the Shorts feed, while an encoder-based dual-stream setup may use RTMP(S) and a second stream key. YouTube describes vertical layouts that can use a center crop, fit-to-width, or a stacked composition. Check current Live Control Room options before building the production around a particular layout.

- Make lower thirds, names, locations, and ticker text readable at phone size; check spelling and transliteration with the newsroom.
- Test the logo, ticker, captions, and other graphics in both horizontal and vertical compositions so crops do not hide essential information.
- Use a live label only while the material is live, and identify recorded or delayed segments clearly.
- Provide captions where available and schedule bulletin changes so viewers can understand when the program has moved to a new segment.
YouTube’s feature information indicates differences between horizontal and vertical live experiences, including no live ad midrolls or pre-rolls in the vertical live feed. Check the current controls and feature behavior rather than relying on a monetization assumption.

Decide how viewers will get a replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A single uninterrupted 24/7 session crosses that documented limit, so do not promise that the entire day will remain available as one complete replay.
- Consider ending and starting shorter, editorially coherent sessions if separate replays are useful to viewers.
- Keep a separate local master recording if a complete program archive is important.
- After launch, check the current behavior in YouTube Studio and confirm which sessions and recordings are actually available.
Clear rights and follow platform rules
YouTube requires live content to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Build a clearance ledger covering each source used in the stream, including reporter footage, agency feeds, music, clips, graphics, guest contributions, and archival material. Record the asset, rights holder or source, permission or license, permitted use, and any relevant time or territory limits.
India’s Copyright Act, 1957 defines “broadcast” to include communication to the public by wireless diffusion or wire, including a rebroadcast. A news purpose alone does not establish permission for every asset, and the application of a statutory exception depends on the particular use. Resolve rights questions for each item with qualified advice rather than assuming that a source is cleared because it is news footage or appears elsewhere online.
Check Indian permissions against the actual operation
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Broadcasting Wing material concerns matters including TV-channel uplinking and downlinking and satellite newsgathering systems. That context does not by itself determine whether a particular YouTube-only Gujarati publisher needs a specific permission.
The answer may depend on the publisher’s legal status, whether it also operates a licensed television channel, whether it uses satellite or uplinking infrastructure, and the current rules applicable to the operation. Before describing the channel as regulated or exempt, have qualified Indian media counsel review its actual distribution and production arrangements and confirm the position with the relevant ministry.
