To loop art gallery exhibition videos on YouTube Live, play the gallery’s authorized prerecorded files continuously through an encoder and send that live feed to YouTube. You can run the playback and encoder on a local computer, or use a cloud service for the playout. First confirm the channel can livestream and that you have permission for every element in the videos, including artwork, music, narration, and footage.

Before you set up the loop

Confirm the channel is eligible

YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Streamers must be at least 16. Check eligibility before scheduling or promoting the broadcast. YouTube lists encoder streaming among its live-streaming methods; for a custom loop of prerecorded exhibition videos, an encoder is the relevant route. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.

Clear the rights to the complete program

Confirm that the gallery’s permissions cover livestreaming the actual video, not only displaying the work in person or publishing a recording. Check rights for the artwork shown, video footage, soundtrack, narration, and any other third-party material. In the United States, the Copyright Office describes public performance rights as applying to communication or transmission of a work to the public; the rights needed for a particular exhibition depend on the works, license terms, and circumstances. Its general analysis of public performance rights is not a substitute for advice about a specific exhibition or jurisdiction.

Also ask relevant rights owners whether they can add the channel to their Content ID allowlist. YouTube warns that even licensed third-party content may interrupt a live stream if the channel has not been allowlisted by the owner.

Set up the YouTube Live broadcast

  1. Prepare the program. Arrange the authorized exhibition videos in the order you want them to play. Decide whether the loop should include title cards or transitions, and make sure these do not introduce material for which you lack rights.
  2. Create or select a live broadcast in YouTube Studio. Choose the encoder workflow for the broadcast. YouTube’s interface can change, so follow the current live-stream setup prompts in Studio.
  3. Copy the connection details into your encoder. YouTube provides a stream URL and stream key. Enter them in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key as a password: do not show it in a public document, screen share, or recording. YouTube explains the key and encoder connection in its live encoder settings guidance.
  4. Start continuous playback and the encoder. Use a playback workflow that can move through the prepared files and repeat them, while the encoder sends the output to YouTube. A secondary prerecorded-video workflow guide describes OBS as one local option for playing and looping files. YouTube’s encoder documentation supports sending an encoder feed, but does not prescribe OBS, a specific playlist configuration, or a native feature that turns an ordinary upload into a live loop.
  5. Verify the incoming feed before announcing the stream. Check the live preview in Studio and confirm that the picture and sound are present and playback continues across a file boundary. Monitor the stream after it begins, particularly if the program is intended to run for an extended period.

Choose where playback and encoding will run

The encoder and playback workflow need a place to run. A local setup uses a computer you already own, if it can run the chosen playback and encoder software; the reviewed sources do not establish a minimum specification or show that buying new hardware is necessary. A cloud playout service can avoid keeping a dedicated computer at the gallery, but responsibilities and controls vary by service.

Consideration Local computer Cloud playout
Power and internet The gallery is responsible for the computer’s power and internet connection. The local computer need not run the playout; service-specific connectivity and operating details vary.
Playback control Playback sequence and any overlays depend on the local software and setup. Control options depend on the service; check that it supports the presentation you need.
Interruptions and recovery Decide who monitors the computer and restarts playback or encoding after a failure. Check how the service handles stream interruptions and what monitoring or recovery it provides.
Cost and service quality Account for any equipment or operating costs you actually incur. Compare the service’s actual fees and terms; no general price, uptime, or quality comparison is established here.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload the gallery video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; StreamNeo loops it from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It supports uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. Confirm that the gallery’s rights permit the material to be streamed, and check that this upload-and-loop workflow fits your exhibition presentation. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free day.

Handle copyright notices and interruptions

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If its systems detect a match, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it, or terminate the broadcast. If you have permission to use matched material, contact the relevant rights owner about allowlisting the channel, then check YouTube Studio for notices if the stream stops. See YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright issues.
