You can broadcast a recorded property launch as a scheduled YouTube Live event by creating a stream in YouTube Studio, sending the recording through an encoder with your stream URL and key, checking the preview, then starting the event in Live Control Room. Tell viewers clearly that it is a replay, confirm you have rights to all material in the recording, and have an operator monitor the broadcast.
Before scheduling: check channel eligibility and content rights
YouTube’s live-streaming requirements, checked October 3, 2026, say the channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days; the person streaming must be at least 16. YouTube states: “To live stream, you need to have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and you need to verify your channel.” Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Before retransmitting the launch recording, confirm that the developer or event producer has permission to use all included footage, music, presentation slides, logos, and other third-party material in a public YouTube broadcast and its archive. A prior event recording is not automatically cleared for rebroadcast.

Decide whether a scheduled Live replay or Premiere fits
Use an encoder-fed Live replay when you want to broadcast an existing recording at a planned event time as a live stream, with an operator managing the feed and viewers able to interact through the Live event. YouTube describes Live as media broadcast in real time. A Premiere is a different format: a new video watched with the creator and community. YouTube’s guidance does not establish that a scheduled Premiere is equivalent to an encoder-fed Live replay. Compare YouTube Live and Premieres.
Whichever format you choose, make the event’s status unambiguous. Put “Replay” in the title or description and show it on the opening slate, so viewers are not led to believe that a previously recorded launch is happening live. This is practical audience guidance, not a claim about a special YouTube labeling rule.

Create and schedule the YouTube Live event
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live. Use the Live tab to create a stream, or open Manage to schedule a future stream. YouTube’s encoder workflow is documented in its live-streaming with an encoder instructions.
- Set the event time and metadata. For a future launch replay, schedule the stream and set its title, description, privacy, and other available settings. Identify it as a replay in the title or description. Scheduling creates a watch page that you can share, and viewers can set reminders.
- Remember that scheduling does not start playback. The scheduled event promotes the planned time; it does not make the recording play automatically. An encoder must send the video feed, and an operator must start the event.
- Copy the connection details. Get the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio and enter them in the encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not publish or share it in event materials.
Prepare the recording and encoder
Choose a software or hardware encoder whose current version supports playing a local video file into its stream output. YouTube’s cited instructions explain how to connect an encoder but do not compare named products or establish whether a particular version supports local-file playback. Check the encoder maker’s current documentation for that function before relying on it for a scheduled event.
- Load the approved final recording and check that its duration, opening slate, audio, and ending are correct.
- Enter YouTube’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder’s streaming destination settings.
- Set the encoder to send the recording as a video feed, rather than using a webcam or camera input.
- Use RTMPS where your encoder offers it; YouTube recommends this secure stream transport. Follow the encoder’s documented output settings and confirm the resulting feed in YouTube’s incoming preview.
YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not prescribe one universal bitrate, resolution, or keyframe setting for every recording and encoder. Use settings supported by the chosen encoder and appropriate to the source file and available upload connection, then verify the actual incoming picture and sound before the event. Review YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance.

Test before the scheduled start
- Allow setup time. Connect the encoder well before the advertised start, rather than waiting until viewers arrive.
- Start sending the feed, but do not go live prematurely. Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room. Check that the intended recording is playing and that sound is present.
- Check the viewer experience. Open the scheduled watch page, confirm its details, and test playback on a phone as well as the operator’s computer. Check audio and video quality from the viewer side.
- Keep a responsible operator available. Assign someone to watch stream health and chat during the event, with access to the encoder and YouTube Studio if a correction or stop is needed. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend testing and monitoring for higher-production events.
Start, monitor, and end the replay
- At the scheduled time, start the encoder if it is not already sending the tested feed.
- Wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room, then select Go live for the scheduled event.
- Monitor stream health, picture, sound, and chat during the broadcast. If the feed fails, use the encoder and Live Control Room status information to identify the issue and restore the feed; do not assume that the scheduled watch page itself is playing the file.
- When the recording finishes, stop the encoder’s feed and end the stream in YouTube’s interface as applicable. Check that the event is no longer broadcasting before leaving it unattended.
Does YouTube save the live stream afterward?
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. After the broadcast, open the Studio Live tab and check that the archive is available and has the intended privacy setting. The event may then appear on the channel as a replay video. See YouTube’s encoder and archive guidance.
Do not rely on automatic archiving as your only copy of the launch recording. Keep the approved source file and check the archive after the event, especially if the stream approaches the 12-hour threshold.
