To loop recorded school annual day performances on YouTube Live, create or schedule a YouTube stream, send it an encoder feed, and configure the encoder or cloud service to repeat the recordings in the intended order. YouTube Studio does not document a native repeat-playlist switch for Live Control Room. Before broadcasting, confirm rights for the music and other material, get appropriate permissions for identifiable students, and test the full stream and replay workflow.
Choose how the recordings will repeat
YouTube Live receives a feed from an encoder: software or a service that sends video and audio to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key. The repeat behavior is configured in the playback setup, not by a documented loop setting in Live Control Room.

For a local setup, choose encoder software whose current version can play a playlist and repeat it. YouTube’s encoder guidance names Gyre as an example of a cloud-based service for continuous prerecorded-video streaming; that mention is not an endorsement or confirmation of its current features, pricing, or India availability.

Clear the recordings and music
Make an inventory of everything in the final files: songs, backing tracks, choreography, scripts, images, video clips, and other third-party material. Confirm that the school has the necessary rights for recording, live online communication, the intended geographic reach, and any later replay. YouTube’s Livestream terms say the provider must have the necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning and placeholder; continued use can result in temporary interruption or termination. Even when a school has permission, the rights owner may need to allowlist the channel in Content ID. Resolve licensing and allowlisting questions with the relevant rights holders before the event, not during the broadcast.
Do not assume an educational exception covers a public stream
Section 52(1)(j) of India’s Copyright Act describes a limited-audience exception for performances in the course of an educational institution’s activities. Its audience wording concerns staff and students, parents or guardians, and people connected with the institution’s activities. A public YouTube stream may be accessible beyond that group, so a school should not assume the exception automatically authorizes it. The exact audience, material, and permissions matter; obtain rights-holder permissions or qualified legal advice for the proposed use.

Get consent and plan for students who cannot appear
Obtain documented parent or guardian permission for identifiable students, and explain who will be able to watch, whether the event will be archived, and how long the recording may remain available. Prepare an alternate shot or exclusion plan for students without permission. The Ministry of Electronics & IT said in a release published 12 December 2025 that the DPDP Act, 2023 and Rules, 2025 were notified on 13 November 2025; the release describes verifiable parental consent for processing children’s personal data and certain educational-institution exemptions. That release is not a school-specific legal opinion, so ask the school’s privacy or legal lead to check current requirements and how they apply to the proposed stream.

Prepare the playlist and YouTube event
Build and inspect the show order
- Collect the final approved video files and put them in the exact order the school wants families to see them.
- Check the beginning and end of each file, audio levels, and transitions. Avoid an unintended long silence, black frame, or one-time closing slate that becomes awkward when the playlist returns to its first item.
- Set the selected playback software or service to repeat the playlist. Its controls depend on the product and version; consult that product’s current instructions rather than assuming a particular repeat button or setting.
- Play through the last item and the transition back to the first. Confirm that the loop is continuous and that the start of the next cycle is appropriate for viewers arriving mid-event.
Create or schedule the stream in Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Under Manage, schedule a stream or create one. Enter an accurate title, description, thumbnail, audience and privacy choice, and start time.
- If you schedule the event, share its watch URL with families in advance. For rehearsals, use unlisted visibility if appropriate and verify the setting explicitly.
- Check the privacy choice rather than relying on defaults. YouTube says users aged 13–17 default to private streams, while adult streamers default to public; streamers can change visibility.
- Open the Stream tab and copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key into the encoder. Treat the key like a password. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
Channel eligibility, account status, and the available Studio interface can affect whether a channel can go live. Check the channel in Studio before announcing the event; the school-specific account and eligibility details are not established here.

Test the complete broadcast before families join
YouTube recommends preparing encoder streams at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the planned event. Use an unlisted rehearsal with the same files and playback behavior where possible.
- Start the encoder feed early and wait for the preview in Live Control Room.
- Check picture and sound, playlist order, the last-to-first loop, and whether the stream is reaching the correct scheduled event.
- Open the watch page from a separate device or browser, then test mobile playback. Confirm the intended audience can access the event with the selected visibility.
- Monitor stream health and keep a responsible operator available throughout. The operator should know how to pause or stop the feed and how to respond if YouTube interrupts it.
- Verify that any local backup or recording is actually being written and that its files open and play. Keep a separate copy of the original approved recordings; no additional storage device is required to stream.
End the stream and review its replay
- When the event is finished, select End stream in Live Control Room and stop sending the encoder feed.
- YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not treat that as a substitute for checking the archive: verify that it is present and plays correctly.
- Review the replay for copyright claims, technical problems, and privacy concerns. Decide whether it should remain public, become unlisted or private, or be removed.
- Confirm that permissions cover the archive as well as the live event. A right to show a performance live should not be presumed to include an indefinite public replay.
Troubleshoot common problems
