You can broadcast a prerecorded video on YouTube Live over Airtel broadband by scheduling a YouTube event, loading the video file into encoder software, and sending the encoder’s feed to YouTube with the event’s stream URL and key. Whether your Airtel connection can sustain your chosen quality depends on its measured upload speed at streaming time—not just the speed advertised for your plan. Start with a conservative bitrate, test the feed, and lower the setting if YouTube reports instability.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- A video file and encoder software that can use a local file as its video source and send a live feed to YouTube. A camera or capture card is not inherently required for a file source.
- A reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the stream bitrate plus spare capacity for network variation and other household use.
- Access to YouTube Studio and the event’s stream URL and key. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your event.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live.
- Use the Manage tab to schedule a stream, or create a stream from the Stream tab. Set the privacy and event details, including the title and description.
- Open the event in YouTube Live Control Room and locate its stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the workflow. Copy these values into the encoder’s server and key fields; do not share the key publicly.
- Scheduling gives you an event URL to share and time to check the setup before viewers arrive.
Set up the prerecorded video in your encoder
Choose encoder software that can play a video file as a source and transmit it to YouTube Live. The precise labels differ by software, so look for a media or file source, then configure the encoder’s streaming destination with the URL and key from YouTube. YouTube’s official documentation describes the general encoder process rather than prescribing a particular prerecorded-video application.
- Add the local video file as the encoder’s source. Check that the selected file plays from beginning to end and that its audio is included.
- Set the encoder output to the event’s server URL and stream key. Use RTMPS where the encoder offers it; YouTube recommends this encrypted transport.
- Choose a resolution and bitrate that your measured upload can sustain. Use H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Start the encoder before the scheduled event, then check the YouTube preview for picture, sound, and stream health. Start or confirm the event in YouTube Live Control Room as required by the event setup.
Choose settings that match your upload speed
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends these H.264 video bitrates. They are encoder targets, not guarantees that a given Airtel line can sustain them.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| Output | YouTube-recommended H.264 video bitrate | Approximate upload capacity with 20% headroom |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps | 7.5 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps | 12.5 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps | 21.25 Mbps |
The headroom column applies YouTube’s recommendation to leave about 20% of upload bandwidth unused: the total stream bitrate should use no more than roughly 80% of the available upload capacity. Treat the figures as practical minimums for a stable connection, not as guarantees; allow more room if other devices use the network or your upload rate varies. The total stream bitrate includes audio as well as video, so account for audio when setting capacity.

It's also a great way to share content in game recording, video conference, video recorder and online teaching
- 【Wide Compatibility USB Capture Card】 Easily streams to Facebook, Youtube or Twitch. With the connection, this HDMI to USB C/3.0 video capture devices can be working on several Operating Systems and various software: Windows 7/ 8/ 10, Mac OS or above, Linux, Android, Laptop, Xbox One, PS3/PS4/PS5, Camera, DVDs, Set Top Box, Webcame, DSLR, Switch/Switch 2, TV BOX, HDTV, Potplayer/VLC, ZOOM, OBS Studio etc.
- 【Package Content & Note】 1x HD Audio Capture Card , 1x USB 3.0 to USB C Adapter (A-side 3.0, B-side 2.0), 1x user manual. Please note that you need to restart the OBS Studio software after the audio setup is complete, otherwise it will result in no sound output. When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
For example, if a speed test at the intended broadcast time shows a stable upload rate of 10 Mbps, 1080p30 at the recommended 10 Mbps video bitrate leaves no headroom and is not a sensible starting point. Try a lower setting such as 720p30, then confirm the preview and stream health. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate recommendations may change, so check the current guidance when configuring a new stream.
Check whether Airtel broadband can carry the stream
Airtel’s advertised plan speeds are not an individual customer’s measured upload rate. Airtel’s broadband FAQ lists plans advertised up to 40, 100, 300 Mbps, and 1 Gbps, and says broadband speed varies according to the selected tariff. Those plan figures do not establish the upload speed available at your home. See Airtel’s broadband FAQ.

- Run an upload speed test at the location and time you expect to stream. Repeat it to see whether the result is consistent; do not use the advertised download speed as a substitute.
- Connect the streaming computer to the router with Ethernet if practical. YouTube recommends a wired connection for computer streaming; it can reduce local wireless variability, but cannot increase the upload capacity provided by Airtel.
- Check whether other devices or applications are using the connection. Pause large uploads and reduce competing traffic where possible.
- Compare the stable upload result with the total stream bitrate, leaving about 20% unused. If it does not fit, reduce resolution, frame rate, or bitrate before going live.
- Check your current Airtel plan’s data and fair-use terms, especially for long or frequent broadcasts. Airtel’s published Xstream Fiber terms state a 3333 GB billing-cycle FUP threshold followed by a speed reduction to 1 Mbps, and say the terms may be amended. Confirm that this threshold and consequence apply to your current plan in Airtel’s current broadband terms.
Test the feed before viewers arrive
YouTube recommends setting up a stream two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event. An unlisted test event can help you verify the setup without making the test public. Use YouTube’s computer livestreaming tips as a checklist.

- Confirm that the scheduled event is the one selected in the encoder and that the stream key matches it.
- Check YouTube’s preview for the correct video, visible motion, and audible sound. Confirm that the file does not begin with an unintended blank section.
- Watch stream health while the encoder runs. If it reports dropped frames or an unstable connection, lower the bitrate or resolution and test again.
- Verify that viewers can reach the event at the intended privacy setting and scheduled time.
- Keep the encoder and connection running through the broadcast. When the stream is finished, stop the encoder output. YouTube automatically archives streams shorter than 12 hours.
Troubleshooting common problems
YouTube does not accept the stream
Check that live streaming is enabled for the channel, that the channel is verified, and that it has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Confirm that you copied the URL and key for the correct event, and that the encoder is using the supported RTMP or RTMPS destination.

The preview is blank or the video does not play
Check that the file source is active and that the encoder can read the file. Verify that playback has started and that the correct scene or source is selected. If the encoder sends a feed but YouTube’s preview remains blank, recheck the event destination and stream key.
Video or audio keeps buffering, drops frames, or looks unstable
Test upload speed again while the problem is happening. Reduce the encoder bitrate or output resolution until the total stream bitrate sits comfortably below the stable upload rate. Use Ethernet where possible and pause other network-heavy activity. A fast advertised Airtel plan does not rule out a weak or variable upload connection at the time of the stream.

The picture is fine but viewers cannot hear audio
Check that the file’s audio track is enabled in the encoder and that the encoder’s audio source is not muted. Listen to the YouTube preview before the event rather than relying only on the encoder’s local playback.
The stream stops after a long broadcast
Check the encoder, internet connection, and YouTube stream health first. Also check your current Airtel plan terms and usage: the published Xstream Fiber terms describe a 3333 GB billing-cycle FUP threshold followed by a reduction to 1 Mbps, but terms can change and may differ by plan.

Copyright and YouTube policy checks
A prerecorded file is still being broadcast as a YouTube live stream. Before scheduling, make sure you have the rights to the video and audio and that the material complies with YouTube’s policies. A live encoder setup does not grant permission to rebroadcast copyrighted material. YouTube’s live-stream access rules also apply: the channel must be verified and free of a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Review YouTube’s current policies and the status of your channel before relying on an event for a time-sensitive broadcast.
