You can run a Malayalam movie-song playlist continuously by giving FFmpeg a compatible list of media files and sending its output to a YouTube live event. The critical first step is rights clearance: having the files, crediting the owners, or using FFmpeg does not give you permission to livestream commercial recordings. YouTube can interrupt even a licensed stream if the relevant Content ID owner has not allowlisted your channel.
Clear the music rights before you build the stream
For every track, identify both the exact recording you plan to use and the underlying musical work. A Malayalam film song can involve distinct rights in the composition and the sound recording; a license or permission covering one does not necessarily cover the other. Ask the relevant label, distributor, publisher, or other rights holders for written permission that covers your intended use.
Be specific in the request: public online live streaming on YouTube, the territories where viewers may watch, monetization if applicable, and whether the live broadcast will remain available as an archive. Permission to download or listen to a song is not, by itself, permission to livestream it. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with the label or distributor when using protected music.
For creators in India, the Copyright Act treats musical works and sound recordings as distinct categories and includes relevant public-performance and communication-to-the-public rights. Those general provisions do not identify the owner of a particular Malayalam film song or establish that a particular license covers your stream. Do not assume that a statutory licensing route described for broadcasting organizations automatically applies to an individual YouTube creator.

- Keep a track-by-track inventory with the recording version and the rights holder or contact for each item.
- Save the written permissions and any territory, duration, monetization, or archive restrictions.
- Ask each applicable Content ID owner to add your YouTube channel to its allowlist. YouTube explicitly recommends this for licensed third-party content; a license alone does not prevent automated interruptions.
Prepare a playlist FFmpeg can read
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer reads a plain-text list and processes the listed files in order. Create a file named playlist.txt in the directory where you will run FFmpeg:

file 'song-video-03.mp4'Replace those example filenames with your authorized local files. Paths can be relative to the playlist’s location or full paths. If a path contains an apostrophe, escape it according to FFmpeg’s concat-demuxer syntax rather than assuming ordinary shell quoting will work.
The concat demuxer expects the inputs to have the same streams, including compatible codecs and time bases. A list that mixes files with different audio/video layouts or incompatible parameters may fail, produce timestamp problems, or create artifacts at transitions. Check the files with the FFmpeg build you will actually use. Where needed, normalize the media to compatible technical parameters before assembling the playlist.

Do not add guessed duration lines to make the list look precise. FFmpeg warns that inaccurate duration information can cause artifacts, and differences in stream lengths can create gaps when the timeline is adjusted. A playlist is sequential playback, not a guarantee of gapless transitions. Test the boundaries between files and listen and watch through more than one transition.
Choose how to handle incompatible files

Create the YouTube live event and protect the stream key
- In YouTube Studio, set up a live event and locate the event’s encoder or ingest details. YouTube represents a live event as a
liveBroadcastassociated with aliveStream; the API can schedule and associate these. Studio is the practical place to retrieve the ingest information for your event. - Copy the ingest URL and stream key from the event’s encoder details. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your event. Do not publish it in a script, playlist, screenshot, or public repository.
- Check which ingest protocol the event is configured to use before selecting FFmpeg output options. The command below is a schematic RTMP/FLV pattern, not a universal YouTube command. Use the ingest URL and key shown for your event, and choose encoding parameters that meet YouTube’s current requirements for that ingest path and your source files.

Keep the key out of shell history and logs where practical. The example reads the playlist repeatedly and encodes video and audio as H.264 and AAC for an FLV output. It is only suitable if the input media contains streams those encoders can process and the event’s configured ingest accepts that output.
The example deliberately does not prescribe a bitrate, resolution, frame rate, or keyframe interval: those depend on the source and the ingest profile, and the available guidance here does not establish one universal profile. Check YouTube’s current encoder requirements for the protocol selected in Studio, set the output accordingly, then verify the actual incoming signal in the event dashboard. If you use stream copy instead of encoding, confirm that every input codec and stream is compatible with the selected ingest format; a concat list alone does not make mismatched files compatible.

Do not apply HLS rules to an RTMP command
HLS is another YouTube ingestion option, but it has its own implementation requirements. YouTube’s HLS guide specifies muxed M2TS media, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, a closed GOP, and one audio track; it also describes segments generally lasting one to four seconds and not exceeding five seconds, along with playlist and segment constraints. These are HLS-specific requirements, not settings to paste into every RTMP workflow. Follow the guide for the exact HLS implementation you choose rather than treating the RTMP example above as an HLS command.
Enable, test, and monitor the broadcast
- If this is the channel’s first live stream, enable live-stream access and complete account verification ahead of time. YouTube for Artists says to verify at least 24 hours before the first stream; check the channel’s current eligibility and feature availability directly in Studio.
- Start with an unlisted test event. Confirm that YouTube receives the expected audio and video, then let the playlist pass through several file transitions. Listen for silence, clipping, or abrupt changes and watch for gaps, frozen video, or timestamp errors.
- Monitor YouTube Studio’s stream status and copyright notices while the event is running. An encoder process can remain active even if YouTube has stopped accepting or displaying the stream.
- After changing the playlist, FFmpeg options, or ingest configuration, test again before relying on the 24/7 run.
Understand copyright interruptions and archived claims
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If it detects protected material, it may replace the picture with a placeholder, warn you, or interrupt or terminate the stream if the material continues. A stream can be interrupted even if you say you have a license: YouTube advises licensed creators to ask the content owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist.
If you keep an archive of the live event, it can receive a Content ID claim after the stream ends. Plan for that separately when securing permission; a live-use approval should explicitly address whether the recording may remain available afterward.

- Login the encoder webpage, you can setup the parameters. You can add static text or scroll text or logo or time to the output video stream to customize your output displayed video.
There is no FFmpeg flag that clears music rights or prevents Content ID enforcement. Noncommercial intent, a credit line, a short excerpt, audio-only output, or an unlisted test should not be treated as an exemption. A private test may help validate your setup, but it does not establish permission for a public broadcast.

A continuous stream depends on more than a correct playlist: the FFmpeg process, the host computer, its power, network connection, and the YouTube ingest must all remain usable. Watch both the local FFmpeg output and YouTube Studio. If YouTube drops the connection, confirm that the event is still available and restart the encoder with the same event’s current ingest details; do not expose or reuse a stream key if you suspect it has been compromised.

Arrange for the process to restart after an encoder failure and check the resulting feed rather than assuming that a restarted process means the live event has resumed correctly. A playlist, a running process, and YouTube’s live event are separate parts of the chain.
