You can run a Hindi music playlist on YouTube continuously by hosting an encoder on an EC2 instance and sending its live feed to YouTube with the channel’s ingest URL and stream key. Before you start, clear rights for every recording and composition, confirm whether each rightsholder must allowlist your channel, and test the exact playlist and stream settings. EC2 can keep the encoder in the cloud, but it does not remove the need to supervise the process, recover from failures, or comply with YouTube’s copyright and monetization rules.
What the EC2 setup does—and what it does not do
In this setup, an EC2 host runs an encoder that takes authorized music files and any intended visual layer, creates a continuous video feed, and sends that feed to YouTube Live. YouTube receives the contribution stream; it handles the platform-side live broadcast. This differs from AWS’s managed live-streaming architecture, which can use encoding, packaging, and distribution services to deliver video to viewers. The AWS architecture is not a required part of a basic EC2-to-YouTube encoder workflow.
EC2 provides a place to run the encoder; it does not by itself supply a ready-to-use Hindi playlist, music permissions, a validated looping command, a failover design, or guaranteed 24/7 reliability. The exact instance, operating system, storage, playlist handling, visual treatment, and process supervisor must be selected and tested for your workload.

Clear rights before you build the stream
Check both the recording and the composition
“Hindi music” does not determine who owns a track or where it may be used. For each item, identify the sound-recording owner and the composition or publishing owner, then check the permission grant, territories, term, and whether it covers continuous livestreaming, monetization, and an archived video (VOD). A purchase, download, or music-service subscription is not, by itself, evidence of livestream rights.

YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to represent that it has the necessary rights worldwide for use on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses), and other royalty participants. Read the YouTube livestream terms and conditions and obtain permissions that actually cover your intended use.
Ask about Content ID allowlisting
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A licensed track can still trigger an interruption if the rightsholder has not allowlisted your channel where that is required. Ask each relevant owner whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist, and get confirmation before you rely on the permission for a continuous broadcast. YouTube says that the archived stream may also receive a Content ID claim after the live broadcast ends. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Do not treat “free” labels as clearance
YouTube’s music guidance says music is safe when it is public domain or you have permission from the copyright owner; it also points creators to resources such as the YouTube Audio Library and Creator Music where applicable. A description calling a track “free” does not prevent a Content ID match. Check the license terms for the exact track and use, including livestreams, territories, archives, and monetization, using YouTube’s tips to find safe music.

Sign in to YouTube Studio and open Live Control Room. Enable live streaming for the channel if it has not been enabled already. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned launch date. Follow the current encoder setup instructions.

Create or schedule a stream in YouTube Studio. Select the stream’s intended visibility and other broadcast details, then locate its ingest server URL and stream key in the encoder settings.

Keep the stream key private. Put it only in the encoder configuration on the EC2 host; do not publish it in a script repository, a public log, a screenshot, or the stream description. If you believe it has been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder before restarting.
Prepare the EC2 host and choose an encoder configuration
Plan the host around the actual media
Place only media you are authorized to stream on the host, and decide how the encoder will select tracks and present any visual layer. The YouTube documentation does not prescribe an EC2 instance size, a Hindi-playlist file format, or a particular static-image or visual-loop recipe. Choose those implementation details based on your media, desired output, and host capacity, then test them rather than assuming a sample recipe will work unchanged.

Plan how the encoder will be supervised. A long-running process can exit, lose its connection, or stop producing usable audio or video. Configure a process supervisor or equivalent recovery mechanism, retain logs that help diagnose failures, and decide how an operator will be alerted and restart the stream. A restart policy alone does not prove that the broadcast will recover cleanly; test the behavior on your own host.
Use YouTube’s published settings as a starting point
YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder ingest: “We recommend streaming to YouTube Live with RTMPS, a secure extension to the popular RTMP streaming video protocol.” Its current encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, with no more than four seconds. For stereo audio, it lists a 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 Kbps audio bitrate.
Choose video resolution and bitrate to match both the source and the EC2 host’s available network capacity. YouTube’s guidance includes H.264 examples of 4 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps and 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps; these are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular host or source will sustain those settings. Verify the current YouTube encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions before deployment, since platform guidance can change.

Test the complete stream before announcing it
Run a test with audio and movement similar to the intended production. YouTube recommends testing before the event and monitoring stream health. Check the entire path—from the media files on EC2 through the encoder to the YouTube preview—and do not treat a successful connection alone as proof that the stream is ready.

Listen across track boundaries for silence, abrupt cuts, unexpectedly low levels, or audio that stops while video continues.

Check YouTube Studio for stream-health warnings and confirm the selected resolution, frame rate, and audio are what you intended.

Confirm that the encoder remains running through the intended playlist behavior and that its logs show useful information if it exits.

Test what happens when the network connection is interrupted or the encoder process stops. Confirm that the supervisor, alerting, and operator restart procedure work as intended.

Confirm any required Content ID allowlisting with the relevant rightsholder; a clean test does not replace permission or an allowlist requirement.
Do not describe the stream as reliably 24/7 until you have tested recovery in the actual environment. Record the restart steps, the location of the current stream key, and who is responsible for responding to an alert. Keep credentials protected while making those steps accessible to authorized operators.
Understand copyright interruptions and monetization separately
Rights clearance and YouTube’s automated matching are related but distinct. You need permission for the use, and a licensed third-party track can still interrupt a broadcast if the channel has not been allowlisted where required. YouTube may replace a live broadcast with a placeholder after detecting third-party content; continuing to transmit the content can lead to temporary interruption or termination. An archive may also receive a Content ID claim.
Monetization is a separate question from whether the stream stays online. YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams and evaluates whether channel content is original and authentic rather than repetitive or mass-produced. On July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material falls under its “inauthentic content” policy, previously described as “repetitious content.” A continuously looping playlist is not assured monetization; the outcome depends on YouTube’s channel-level review and current policy. Copyright compliance still applies independently. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies and do not assume that encoder uptime or a license guarantees monetization.
Estimate EC2 costs without confusing AWS architectures
Your EC2 bill depends on choices not specified by the YouTube ingest requirements: region, instance family and size, runtime, storage, network transfer, and any additional services. Calculate those components for the actual design using current AWS pricing; there is no supported monthly EC2 total without those inputs.

AWS’s Live Streaming on AWS deployment page gives an example of approximately $69.74 for a one-hour SD-540p event with approximately 1,000 viewers in US East (N. Virginia): about $2.50 for encoding and packaging plus $67.24 for 791 GB of distribution. That is a scoped example for AWS’s managed live-streaming deployment, not a monthly EC2 encoder estimate and not a forecast of YouTube’s viewer-delivery costs. AWS also describes a separate viewer-delivery architecture in its CloudFront video streaming documentation; it should not be conflated with an EC2 host pushing one encoder feed to YouTube.
Troubleshoot common EC2-to-YouTube failures
You cannot start a live stream
If the channel has never streamed live, activation may still be processing; allow up to 24 hours after enabling the feature. Otherwise, check that you are using the current ingest URL and stream key from the intended YouTube stream and that the stream has been created or scheduled in Studio.
YouTube reports no signal or an unhealthy stream
Check whether the encoder process is running, whether it can read the playlist media, and whether the EC2 host can reach YouTube’s ingest endpoint. Verify the protocol and encoder settings against YouTube’s current guidance, then confirm the chosen bitrate is sustainable on the host’s available network. Use the encoder logs and YouTube Studio’s health display to distinguish a local process failure from an ingest or configuration issue.

Inspect the media at the point where playback fails, including transitions between tracks, and check that the encoder continues producing both audio and video. Confirm the playlist and visual layer behave as intended during a long run. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement representative of the actual stream; a brief connection test will not reveal every boundary or looping issue.
The broadcast is interrupted despite a license
Contact the rightsholder and confirm whether the channel needs Content ID allowlisting. Review the live-copyright notice in YouTube Studio and stop transmitting material that is not cleared for the use. A license alone may not prevent an interruption when an allowlist is required.
The encoder stops and does not recover
Check the process supervisor’s status and logs, then follow the documented restart procedure. If the stream key may have been exposed, rotate it in YouTube Studio, update the protected encoder configuration, and restart with the replacement. Re-test recovery after changing the supervisor, encoder, or host configuration.
