You can use vMix to play prepared devotional music and video while sending the program to YouTube Live, but a reliable 24/7 broadcast takes more than starting a stream: you need to confirm playlist-end behavior in your installed vMix version, clear the rights for every recording, test recovery, and plan how to preserve the program. Connect through a stream created in YouTube Studio or use vMix’s YouTube Live Stream Now option. Neither route, on its own, guarantees an uninterrupted broadcast or a complete archive.
Choose how to connect vMix to YouTube
There are two documented routes. Use YouTube Studio if you want to schedule or reuse a stream and manage its settings there. Use vMix’s YouTube Live Stream Now destination if you want to create and start the broadcast from vMix. The setup steps and labels can vary by version, so follow the current guidance for your installed software.
| Route | Where you set it up | Scheduling and control | How it ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube Studio stream | Create or schedule a stream in YouTube Studio, then give vMix the stream URL and key. | YouTube Studio provides the stream setup and scheduling controls. | Manage the broadcast in YouTube Studio and stop vMix’s outgoing stream when you intend to end it. |
| vMix Live Stream Now | Select the YouTube Live Stream Now destination in vMix and follow its connection flow. | The stream is created and started from vMix. | vMix’s guide says stopping the vMix stream also ends the YouTube stream. |
See vMix’s YouTube Live setup guide and YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current connection flow.
Prepare YouTube and your devotional program
Enable live streaming in advance
If the channel has not streamed live before, enable live streaming in YouTube. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this well before the planned launch. Create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio if using that route, or prepare to use vMix’s Live Stream Now option.

- Capture video directly to your hard drive
- Record video in many video file formats including avi, wmv, flv, mpg, 3gp, mp4, mov and more
- Capture video from a webcam, network IP camera or a video input device (e.g.: VHS recorder)
- Screen capture software records the entire screen, a single window or any selected portion
- Digital zoom with the mouse scroll wheel, and drag to scroll the recording window
Assemble and check the media
Prepare the video and audio files you intend to play, and load them into the vMix production. The vMix User Guide describes playlist items with start times, durations, and transitions. Those controls help arrange a program, but the reviewed guide does not establish a version-independent sequence for repeating an entire playlist forever. In the vMix version you will actually run, test the end of the list, the transition to the next item, and whether playback continues as you expect. Do not leave the broadcast unattended until that test succeeds.
Also listen to transitions and check that the video and audio behave as intended. A playlist that works once is not proof that it will repeat reliably or recover after a restart.

Configure and test the broadcast
- Set the destination. For the Studio route, copy the stream URL and key from the YouTube stream setup into vMix’s streaming configuration. For Live Stream Now, select YouTube in vMix and complete its connection flow.
- Choose encoding settings for your actual setup. vMix supports H.264 video and AAC audio over RTMP. Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate using current YouTube encoder guidance and a real test of the computer and upload connection. The available evidence does not establish a particular bitrate or resolution for this devotional-stream use case, so do not treat a generic setting as a guaranteed fit.
- Run a private or unlisted test. Start vMix streaming and confirm that YouTube Studio receives the feed and reports the expected status. Check picture, sound, and a full playlist transition, including the end-of-list behavior you intend to rely on.
- Test your recovery procedure. Simulate a planned stop and restart before launch. Know who will notice a dropped feed and what they will do to restart it. The official documentation reviewed does not establish automatic crash recovery or a universal unattended-uptime guarantee for vMix and YouTube together.
- Go public only after the checks pass. Confirm the correct stream, audience visibility, title, and other YouTube settings before making the broadcast public. Keep the stream key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to that stream.
vMix documents H.264/AAC and RTMP support on its live streaming software page. Use YouTube’s current encoder instructions for platform-specific settings rather than assuming that a setting suitable for one network or computer will suit another.
Clear music rights before going live
The channel operator is responsible for having the necessary rights to all material in the live program. That includes checking the composition and the particular sound recording as separate rights questions. A traditional or devotional song may have a composition with one rights status and a modern performance or recording with another. The reviewed sources do not determine the status of any particular bhajan, kirtan, or recording.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. If matched material remains in the broadcast, YouTube may interrupt or terminate it. A license alone may not prevent an interruption: YouTube says a rights owner may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Get written permission that covers the relevant recording, uses, territories, term, and channel, and confirm the rights owner’s allowlisting process before streaming.
YouTube’s live-stream terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read the livestream terms and conditions and YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

- 【Package Content & Note】 1x HD Audio Capture Card , 1x USB 3.0 to USB C Adapter (A-side 3.0, B-side 2.0), 1x user manual. When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
- Do not assume that crediting an artist, finding a track described as “free,” or downloading it at no cost grants permission to use it in a live stream.
- YouTube identifies public-domain material or permission from the copyright owner as safe-use bases; verify the status and scope rather than relying on a label or upload description.
- Creator Music is not a dependable licensing route for this use: YouTube’s usage guidance says its tracks are for long-form videos and cannot be used in live streams. See YouTube’s tips to find safe music.
Plan for interruptions and the replay archive
Continuity is an operating plan, not a guarantee
A 24/7 target means planning for more than a successful initial connection. Check playlist repetition in the installed vMix build, monitor the stream, and have a defined restart procedure. The reviewed official sources do not establish specific hardware, bandwidth, backup-internet, or automatic-restart requirements for this setup. Assess those against your own media, encoding settings, network, and tolerance for interruptions instead of assuming a particular computer or connection will be sufficient.
Do not rely on a full archive of a continuous broadcast
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not guarantee a complete replay for a stream that runs longer than 12 hours. If you need a dependable recording, plan a separate local recording or divide the programming into shorter sessions, and verify that the recording process works before relying on it.
