To run Tamil church worship videos continuously on YouTube with OBS, loop a local video or playlist in an OBS scene, then connect OBS to an active YouTube Live broadcast and start streaming. These are separate steps: looping media in OBS does not by itself create a YouTube broadcast. Before going live, confirm that you have permission for the recordings, songs, lyrics, and visuals you plan to stream, including any archive you intend to keep.
1. Confirm permission to stream each video
Check who controls the rights to every element in your program: the musical composition, performance, sound recording, lyrics, and video or other visuals. Permission to stream a church’s live performance does not automatically grant permission to rebroadcast a prerecorded commercial recording or video. Confirm that permission covers public live streaming and, if you plan to leave the broadcast available, its archived or on-demand use. Rights depend on the material, rightsholder, territory, and license; a devotional or Tamil-language subject does not itself grant permission.
Resources from the United Methodist Church and Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) explain useful general distinctions, but they do not establish a license for your church, repertoire, or country. Ask the relevant rights holders or licensing body about your specific use.
2. Choose how OBS will play the videos
One local video: Media Source
For a single file, add an OBS Media Source to a scene, select the file, and enable its Loop option. Confirm that both picture and sound play correctly. A third-party workflow guide describes this approach; source names and behavior can vary, so check them in your installed OBS version.

Several local videos: VLC Video playlist
For multiple files, the cited guide describes using an OBS VLC Video source, adding the files in the intended order, and enabling playlist looping. Play through the sequence and verify that it returns to the beginning as expected. If VLC Video or the playlist controls are unavailable or behave differently in your installation, consult current OBS documentation for the version you use rather than assuming the guide’s steps apply unchanged.
Keep the files accessible to the computer running OBS, and test transitions, audio levels, and repeat behavior before the service or scheduled broadcast. A media source can loop indefinitely inside the scene while OBS is open, but that alone does not send the scene to YouTube.

3. Connect OBS to a YouTube Live broadcast
- Create or select a broadcast in YouTube Studio. Use the current YouTube Studio flow to schedule or create the live broadcast and identify its streaming destination and stream key. Account eligibility and exact controls can change; confirm them in your own Studio account. The OBS community guide describing this workflow was last updated in 2021, so its button labels and eligibility details may no longer match.
- Enter the stream key in OBS. In OBS, open Settings and then Stream, choose YouTube or the relevant YouTube service option, and enter the stream key supplied for the broadcast. Treat the key as a password: do not publish or share it. If you use a custom streaming server rather than a standard YouTube connection, use the server details supplied by YouTube Studio.
- Check the scene and audio. Make sure the intended media source is visible and audible, and that OBS is sending the scene you tested.
- Start the OBS stream and check Studio. Start streaming from OBS, then monitor the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Confirm that YouTube is receiving the program and that the correct event is live before leaving the stream unattended.

YouTube says that live streams are scanned for third-party content. As its Help page puts it: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match may replace the picture with a placeholder and trigger a warning; if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube also says a licensed stream can still be interrupted if the rightsholder has not allowlisted the channel. If you receive a warning, follow the notice and resolve the rights issue rather than assuming that the religious context or a license alone prevents interruption. Make a separate decision about archiving. YouTube notes that a Content ID claim may be made after a live stream ends if it is archived. Confirm that your permissions cover the saved on-demand copy, not only the live transmission. The archive setting does not resolve whether the original live use was authorized.
5. Troubleshoot common problems
- The video loops in OBS, but YouTube shows no live stream: Media looping only controls playback in the scene. Create or select a YouTube Live broadcast, connect OBS to its destination and stream key, start streaming, and verify reception in Studio.
- The scene is live, but the video or playlist does not repeat: Check that Loop is enabled for a single-file Media Source or that playlist looping is enabled for the VLC Video source. Recheck the sequence and behavior in your installed OBS version.
- YouTube displays a copyright warning, placeholder, or interruption: Check the specific material identified by YouTube and the permissions for its composition, recording, performance, lyrics, and visuals. Contact the relevant rightsholder or licensing body; if the material remains unauthorized or unresolved, remove it from the program. A license may not prevent interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted.
- A completed stream receives a Content ID claim: Review the archive and the rights granted for on-demand use. A permission that covers live transmission may not cover keeping the recording available.
- You cannot follow an older setup guide: The cited OBS community guide was updated in 2021. Check current YouTube Studio account eligibility and current OBS source and connection controls rather than relying on old button names.
