To run recorded cooking videos continuously on YouTube Live, send them to YouTube through an encoder: enable livestreaming on your channel, create a Live Control Room event, connect an encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and key, preview the feed, then start playout. The encoder may run on a computer, in a cloud service, or on dedicated hardware. Scheduling an event alone does not supply or loop the video.
Choose where the video will play from
Your recorded files need a playout system that sends a continuous feed to YouTube. The main choices differ in where that system runs and who handles its operation.
| Approach | What it does | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Cloud service that loops uploaded videos or playlists to YouTube Live. | Consider it first if you want unattended cloud playout: it stays on with your computer off, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. |
| Computer encoder | YouTube’s encoder workflow sends a feed from software running on a computer. | A natural starting point if you already have a computer available and can keep it, the encoder, and a reliable network running. |
| Cloud playout such as Gyre | YouTube’s encoder guide names Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 streaming prerecorded video. | Consider hosted operation; check the provider directly for current features, pricing, rights handling, and service terms. |
| AJA HELO Plus hardware | YouTube describes it as a standalone H.264 encoder; its optional PlayToStream function supports scheduled prerecorded media streamed directly to YouTube Live without a computer. | Consider this specialist hardware route if a standalone appliance and its scheduling capability suit your operation. Verify current model and feature availability before buying. |
The computer, Gyre, and AJA descriptions reflect capabilities documented in YouTube’s encoder guide; they are not endorsements or claims about current prices or availability. StreamNeo’s workflow and plans are described at StreamNeo.
Prepare your channel and cooking-video library
Enable livestreaming before announcing a launch
YouTube’s eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it and confirm access before scheduling a public launch. Check YouTube’s current livestream eligibility guidance and encoder setup guidance.

Check rights for every element
Confirm you have the necessary rights for each video and for all included music, images, and other material, both for the live transmission and any archived use. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for necessary rights on the person providing the live content. YouTube also states, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can result in a placeholder, interruption, or termination. A license may not prevent an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and copyright guidance for live streams; a practical preflight is the copyright safety checklist.
Create the YouTube Live event and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a new stream or schedule one for later. Scheduling gives you an event viewers can find in advance and lets them opt into a reminder; it does not provide video playout. Follow YouTube’s current encoder setup instructions.
- Choose the encoder’s output destination. In its stream settings, enter or select YouTube as the platform and copy in the stream URL and stream key provided by YouTube. Labels vary by encoder, so follow that product’s current setup screen.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it as a credential: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish it or include it in screenshots or shared setup notes.
- Start the encoder’s input and inspect the preview. Confirm the cooking video appears in Live Control Room and that audio and picture are correct before making the event public or starting the planned broadcast.
- Check the viewer-facing event. Confirm the watch page is reachable and that the intended event is the one receiving the feed before relying on it for viewers.
Set up a reliable continuous feed
Leave network headroom
YouTube recommends about 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. The relevant capacity is the sustained upload available to the encoder, not the advertised download speed. If the connection is shared or variable, leave additional margin and test at the intended output settings.

Monitor the stream and plan for interruption
YouTube advises setting up encoder streams in advance, previewing before going live, using a reliable network, and monitoring audio and video quality. A continuous broadcast also needs an operational plan for a failed input, encoder, or connection: arrange checks and decide who can restore playout. Recovery from a failure is not guaranteed just because an event was scheduled.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDo not assume one 24/7 event makes a complete replay
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after they end. Its DVR guidance says rewind can be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. These are separate behaviors, not a guarantee that a continuous event will create one complete archive or let viewers rewind to its beginning. Keep the original cooking-video files and check current Studio behavior for your planned duration. See YouTube’s encoder guide and DVR guidance.
