You can broadcast recorded GTA gameplay continuously by creating an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, playing the recording as a looping media source in OBS or another encoder, and keeping the computer and internet connection running. First confirm your channel can livestream. Before making the broadcast public or monetizing it, check Rockstar’s policy and YouTube’s copyright and monetization rules: a continuous gameplay loop is not automatically cleared or eligible to earn revenue.
Before you set up the stream
Confirm YouTube live access
YouTube says a channel must be verified, have no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. First-time live activation may require setup, so check access in YouTube Studio before planning a launch; the cited guidance does not guarantee a specific activation time. Check rights and monetization separately
YouTube says game-content monetization depends on the commercial-use rights granted by the game publisher. It cautions: “Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization.” Instructional or educational commentary tied to what is happening in the gameplay may be a possible route, but adding narration does not guarantee approval. YouTube also reviews channels for reused and inauthentic or repetitive content; a loop with little original contribution can create a separate channel-level monetization risk. Review the recording before broadcast
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can lead to a placeholder, interruption, or termination, and an archived stream may receive a Content ID claim after it ends. Check the recording’s captured game audio and any added music, and pay attention to warnings in Studio. Copyright enforcement during a live stream is separate from a publisher’s policy and YouTube’s monetization review. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.
Set up a recorded GTA stream in YouTube Studio and OBS
- Verify access and prepare a test. Confirm that the channel is verified and eligible to livestream. Allow time for first-time activation, and consider testing privately or unlisted before scheduling a public launch.
- Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio’s live control workflow, create or configure a stream for encoder software, and choose the appropriate game/category. Describe it accurately as recorded GTA gameplay; do not imply it is live camera gameplay. Copy the stream setup details and keep the stream key private. Anyone with the key may be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Add the recording to your encoder. In OBS or another encoder, add the GTA recording as a media source. Enable looping only if you intend the video to repeat. Check that playback continues after the file ends and that the picture, game audio, and any narration are present. These are operational checks for your selected encoder, not approval from YouTube or Rockstar.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. Use the stream key and connection details shown in Studio to connect the encoder. Check Studio’s preview, picture, audio levels, and stream status before making the broadcast public. Do not share the key in a video, chat, or public post.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Keep the computer, encoder, and internet connection available. Watch Studio’s stream health and respond to warnings. Plan how you will restart the encoder or reconnect if the computer, software, power, or network fails. YouTube’s encoder workflow does not promise uninterrupted 24-hour operation.
- Plan for power and connectivity. A UPS may help with a short power interruption, but it cannot keep an internet connection online; runtime depends on the connected load. Neither a UPS nor a restart plan guarantees a 24/7 stream.
- Choose an archive plan. YouTube’s live-production guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not promise a complete replay of a single 24-hour session. If the replay matters, consider local recording and planned shorter broadcast sessions, and recheck Studio guidance before publishing because platform behavior can change. Common problems and what to check
- You cannot start a live stream: Verify channel eligibility, including verification, age, and whether a live-stream restriction applies. If this is your first stream, activation may still need to be completed in Studio.
- Studio does not show the expected video or audio: Check that the encoder is connected using the current stream setup details, the media source is playing, and the correct audio is captured. Confirm the Studio preview before going public.
- The recording stops at the end: Check the media-source loop setting and test playback through the end of the file. Looping is an encoder configuration, not a YouTube setting.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder: Review Studio warnings and inspect the recording for third-party content, including music. YouTube’s live scanning can interrupt a broadcast when it identifies content; an archived stream can also receive a claim after the broadcast.
- The stream or replay ends before a full day: Check whether the computer, encoder, power, or connection failed. Separately, do not rely on a complete archive for a single 24-hour session; YouTube’s cited guide says automatic archiving applies to streams under 12 hours.
- The channel is not accepted for monetization: A publisher’s rights and YouTube’s review are distinct. Extended gameplay footage, repeated footage with little original value, or a rights issue can each matter; commentary alone does not guarantee approval.
India-specific considerations
