You can run a continuous YouTube Live channel that plays recorded church testimonies by sending a looping playlist through an encoder or cloud streaming service. First confirm the channel can livestream, clear every recording for public use, connect the playback system to a YouTube stream key, and test the feed. Keep a separate archive: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
What you need for a 24/7 testimony stream
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream.
- Testimony video files approved for the intended public broadcast, including their music and other audio.
- A playback system that can loop a playlist and send it continuously to YouTube Live: a local software or hardware encoder, or a cloud service.
- A stable internet upload connection if you use an encoder on-site.
- A separate way to retain the original recordings and, if needed, local recordings of the live output.
A YouTube Live stream is the public, continuous feed; it is not a dependable archive of a 24/7 broadcast. Treat source files and backups as separate responsibilities.
Check that the church channel can go live
YouTube’s eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. If livestreaming has never been enabled on the channel, activation may take up to 24 hours. Check readiness before scheduling a launch, rather than discovering a delay on broadcast day. Review each recording for names, contact details, minors or other vulnerable people, medical or financial information, and anything else a speaker may not intend to make public. YouTube advises caution about sharing personal information in a livestream; choose the stream’s visibility deliberately. Its live-stream setup offers public, unlisted, and private options, but those settings do not replace consent. Refer to YouTube’s streaming tips.
Clear both video and audio, including background music, worship songs, and other third-party material. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; a match can replace the feed with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate the stream. Even licensed material may require the rights holder to allowlist the channel in Content ID. Check YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and its livestream terms.

Make a playback-ready playlist
Arrange only approved files in the order you want viewers to encounter them. Test the end of one video and the start of the next so that transitions, audio levels, and any gaps are acceptable. Keep the original files in a separate location from the playback system; the playlist is not a backup.
Choose how to keep the feed running
For a local setup, use software or hardware that can play the playlist continuously and encode it to YouTube Live. The church computer, encoder, power, and internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue. Plan for someone to notice and respond to an interruption.

Connect an encoder to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and create the broadcast. Go to Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Select the visibility and scheduling that match your consent and launch plan. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe the stream setup.
- Copy the ingest details. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the broadcast into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: restrict access to staff who need it and reset it if it is exposed.
- Use RTMPS when supported. Choose the RTMPS endpoint and configure the corresponding connection details accurately. Google describes RTMPS as RTMP tunneled through SSL; see YouTube’s RTMPS ingestion guide.
- Start a private test and check the preview. Confirm that YouTube receives the picture and sound before directing viewers to the public feed. Test a representative testimony and playlist transition, then verify the broadcast’s accessibility and stream health.
- Start the approved playlist and monitor it. Keep a responsible person or tested monitoring process able to notice a dropped feed, muted audio, or playback failure and restore service.
Set video quality and upload capacity
YouTube’s current encoder recommendations include RTMP or RTMPS ingestion, H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. Its recommended H.264 bitrates are 4 Mbps for 240p–720p at 30 fps and 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. These are recommendations, not guarantees: choose a resolution and bitrate the actual upload connection can sustain. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.

YouTube recommends upload bandwidth headroom of 20% above the total stream bitrate. A church connection shared with other users may vary, so test at the intended quality and under realistic network conditions rather than relying only on the advertised plan speed. Monitor both picture and audio during the test. YouTube’s streaming tips cover bandwidth and stream checks.
Keep a separate archive
YouTube can automatically archive a livestream shorter than 12 hours, but it warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not rely on the YouTube watch page as the church’s recording of a continuous broadcast. Keep the original testimony files and make local recordings or other backups if an archive is needed. You can also consider breaking a broadcast into shorter sessions when YouTube replays are important, while planning how the live feed will restart between sessions. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
If recording the outgoing feed locally, size storage for the video format, source file sizes, retention period, and existing equipment. YouTube recommends a local archive backup but does not prescribe a required drive capacity or model.

Troubleshoot common failures
- Livestreaming is unavailable in Studio: Verify the channel and check for a restriction in the preceding 90 days. If live streaming was just enabled for the first time, activation may take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Confirm that the stream URL and key belong to the intended broadcast, that the key was entered correctly, and that the encoder is using a supported RTMP or RTMPS connection. If the key may have been shared, reset it and update the encoder.
- The preview is unstable or drops: Reduce quality or bitrate to a level the upload connection can sustain, preserve the recommended bandwidth headroom, and test again. Check whether other network use or a local power interruption is disrupting the encoder.
- The picture appears but the audio does not, or vice versa: Inspect the encoder’s audio and video inputs and output settings, then test a representative clip and playlist transition in the preview before going public.
- A stream is interrupted or replaced: Check for third-party content matches and confirm rights for every audio and video element. For licensed content, ask the rights holder whether channel allowlisting in Content ID is required.
- A long broadcast has no replay: This can happen when a stream exceeds 12 hours; YouTube says it may not be captured at all. Use separate recordings or shorter sessions if a YouTube archive is required.
- The playlist stops after an outage: Test what happens after network or power loss and establish a monitoring and restart procedure. Do not assume an encoder resumes correctly without verifying recovery.
