With a software encoder such as OBS, you send YouTube a stream URL and key, then monitor the stream in YouTube Studio. A café PC cannot keep streaming while it is shut down, disconnected or reclaimed by the operator.
Check permission and YouTube access first
Ask the café operator before installing or running encoder software, leaving a computer unattended, using the internet continuously or connecting a UPS. Confirm how long you may use the PC and whether it can stay powered and connected. Policies differ by venue; do not assume a café permits an unattended, ongoing stream.
Also consider account security: a cyber-café PC is shared equipment. Ask whether you may sign in to your Google account, keep credentials out of saved browsers, and sign out when finished. Treat your YouTube stream key as a password: do not share it or leave it saved where other users can access it.
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. The streamer must be at least 16. Check the channel’s live access before planning a long session. See YouTube’s live-streaming help.

Set up the stream with an encoder
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live and choose the encoder or streaming-software workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in the Live Control Room. In OBS or another permitted encoder, paste the URL into the server field and the key into the stream key field. Keep the key private.
- Configure your video and audio, then start the encoder. Check the Live Control Room preview, stream health and any warnings before treating the broadcast as live.
- Monitor the stream during the session and be ready to restart the encoder if the café PC or connection fails.
The exact OBS menus can vary by version, so use the fields for the streaming service’s server and stream key rather than assuming a particular menu layout. YouTube’s encoder workflow is described in its encoder setup instructions.
Choose settings for the café’s actual upload connection
For a conservative H.264 starting point, YouTube lists 720p at 30 frames per second with a minimum bitrate of 3 Mbps and a recommended bitrate of 8 Mbps. These are encoder ingest recommendations, not a broadband-plan speed guarantee or proof that a shared café connection can sustain the stream. Leave headroom for other users and fluctuations.

These settings are a starting point, not a promise of stable service. YouTube advises testing with representative audio and motion and checking stream health and messages. Test from the actual café PC at the time you expect to stream. If the connection is unstable, lower resolution or bitrate and test again. A Government of India National Informatics Centre page specifies outbound RTMP port 1935 and dedicated bandwidth of 2–4 Mbps per stream for agencies feeding its webcast service. That guidance is for the NIC webcast scenario, not a YouTube requirement and not evidence that a café’s shared internet is adequate. Ask the operator whether outbound streaming is allowed; the actual-machine test matters more than a general speed claim.

A café-based stream depends on the operator leaving the PC available, the PC and router receiving power, the network staying connected and the encoder continuing to send. If any of those fail, the local encoder cannot transmit until the problem is fixed. Agree on who can access the machine and restart the stream if you are not there.
A UPS for the PC and router may help with brief power interruptions, but select capacity based on the equipment’s actual power draw and the backup runtime you need. No particular model or runtime is established here. A UPS will not fix a lost internet connection or a PC that the café switches off.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited encoder guidance does not guarantee an archive for one continuous 24-hour stream. If a complete replay matters, plan sessions under 12 hours, check current Studio behavior and arrange a separate local recording or content backup.

YouTube’s live-stream terms say the content provider represents that they have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation of the live content, including applicable music rights, and agrees to follow relevant laws. Use material you own or have explicit permission to broadcast. A song or video being available online does not grant streaming rights.

Preflight checklist
- Get the café operator’s explicit approval for encoder use, unattended operation, continuous internet use and any UPS.
- Confirm YouTube live eligibility, including channel verification, age and restriction status.
- Use original or licensed content and keep the stream key private.
- Confirm the PC can remain powered and accessible, and that outgoing streaming is allowed on the network.
- Test upload stability from the actual machine with representative audio and motion; inspect YouTube’s preview and stream health.
- Decide who will monitor the broadcast and recover it after a disconnect; consider whether a UPS suits the permitted setup.
- If an archive is important, plan for sessions under 12 hours and a separate backup.
