You can run a continuous Punjabi music stream from OBS by creating a YouTube Live broadcast, feeding OBS a rights-cleared music source or playlist, and keeping the computer, power, internet connection, and playback system running. OBS does not guarantee uninterrupted uptime: you must test playback, monitor stream health, and plan how to recover if the source, connection, or YouTube stream fails.
Before going live, clear the rights for each recording and visual for live streaming and any replay you intend to keep. A licence alone may not prevent YouTube from interrupting a stream after a Content ID match. The setup below is for YouTube Live and OBS; exact OBS source controls can vary by version and media setup.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions within the past 90 days. Activate live streaming ahead of launch rather than assuming it will be available immediately.
- A computer that can stay on, a stable wired or wireless internet connection, and dependable power for the full broadcast.
- Punjabi audio and any accompanying video or artwork that you are authorized to use in a live stream.
- OBS Studio, installed and tested with the actual music file or playlist you plan to broadcast.
- A local recording plan if you need a complete replay or independent copy of the 24-hour broadcast.
YouTube advises leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. Measure sustained upload capacity under realistic conditions, then choose an encoder bitrate that the connection can maintain with that margin; a speed-test peak alone is not a guarantee of stable streaming.

Clear music and visual rights before you broadcast
YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions put responsibility on the broadcaster to have the necessary rights for worldwide use of the live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Confirm that permissions cover live streaming, rebroadcast, and any archive or later on-demand use you plan. Keep records of licences and permissions, including territorial and time limits.

Even a licensed recording can be matched during a live stream. YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. If a rights holder uses Content ID, ask them to allowlist your channel before launch; territorial restrictions alone may not prevent an interruption. The YouTube copyright guidance for live streams explains the platform’s matching and interruption process.
Do not assume that a song is safe because it is widely available online, credited in the description, or used by other channels. A particular recording’s rights status depends on your permissions and agreements, not on the general setup instructions here.

Choose a playback and replay plan
One file or a playlist
A single authorized media file has fewer transitions to troubleshoot. A playlist allows variety, but every transition and the return to the beginning need testing in the OBS version and source configuration you actually use. Add the media source to an OBS scene, select the appropriate playback or repeat behavior for that source, and watch it reach the end and restart before relying on it for a public broadcast. OBS source options depend on the source type and installed version; consult the OBS media sources documentation for the relevant source behavior.
One 24-hour event or shorter broadcasts
A single continuous event gives viewers one destination, but YouTube’s full-production guidance says streams up to 12 hours are automatically turned into VOD; for longer streams, the team should record and manually upload the archive. A 24-hour event should therefore not be treated as a guaranteed complete YouTube replay. If a complete archive matters, enable local recording and check the resulting file; alternatively, use shorter events and explain planned breaks to viewers.

Set up OBS and YouTube Live
- Confirm channel eligibility. In YouTube Studio, check that live streaming is enabled for the verified channel and that there is no active restriction. Complete activation in advance.
- Prepare the scene. In OBS, create a scene for the broadcast and add the authorized local music/video source or playlist. Set its playback behavior as appropriate, then test the end-of-file transition and restart. Check that audio is audible and that the intended artwork or video is visible throughout.
- Create the YouTube broadcast. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that broadcast into OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not share it publicly, and reset it if it may have been exposed.
- Configure encoding. Choose the output resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate according to YouTube’s current encoder recommendations and your connection. Use the matching bitrate guidance below rather than selecting a bitrate based only on the source file.
- Run an unlisted test. Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview before making the broadcast public. Listen for audio problems, inspect the picture, watch the source transition and loop, and confirm that the public watch page plays as expected.
- Check the recording and health indicators. If local recording is enabled, verify that the file is growing. Monitor YouTube’s stream health and OBS during the test and live operation.
- Go public only after the test passes. Start the public broadcast, keep the computer and source media available, and monitor the connection and stream. Be prepared to restart the encoder or correct a failed media source.
Use YouTube’s encoder settings as a starting point
YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video, plus AAC or MP3 audio. Its advanced settings list stereo audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. Match the bitrate row to the codec, resolution, and frame rate you select.
| Output example | Codec | YouTube-listed minimum | YouTube recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | H.264 | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | AV1 or H.265 | 2 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | H.264 | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | AV1 or H.265 | 4 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
These are YouTube recommendations, not a promise that a particular connection or computer will sustain the stream. If upload capacity fluctuates, choose a lower output setting that leaves more headroom instead of targeting the highest resolution your setup can briefly reach. YouTube’s live streaming tips advise leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom.

Keep the stream running and recover from failures
OBS sends the stream, but continuity depends on the entire chain: playback source, computer, power, internet connection, encoder, and YouTube ingest. Keep the source files accessible and avoid relying on a sleep-prone laptop or a connection that drops under sustained use. Monitor both OBS and YouTube’s stream health rather than assuming that a successful start means the stream will stay healthy.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- If the stream disconnects: check internet access and YouTube stream health, then reconnect OBS using the same broadcast and key if they remain valid. Confirm the preview returns before assuming viewers can see the stream again.
- If the picture freezes or the playlist stops: inspect the OBS media source and its playback state. Restart or correct the source, then verify moving picture and audio in the preview.
- If YouTube interrupts the broadcast after a rights match: check the Live Control Room notice and resolve the rights issue with the rights holder. If the channel is licensed, request Content ID allowlisting; do not simply restart the same disputed material without addressing the match.
- If the archive is incomplete: check the local recording and its storage location. For a broadcast longer than 12 hours, use a local recording and plan a manual upload rather than relying on YouTube’s automatic VOD creation.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer and home connection running continuously, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping an uploaded-video YouTube stream live. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a Punjabi song in a 24/7 YouTube stream if I credit the artist?
Credit does not replace permission. You need rights for the live use and any replay or on-demand use you intend, and YouTube can still interrupt a stream after a Content ID match.
Will YouTube save the full replay of a 24-hour stream automatically?
Do not count on it. YouTube’s cited automatic VOD guidance covers streams up to 12 hours; arrange a local recording and manual upload for a longer archive.
