You can run a continuous lofi stream on YouTube over Airtel broadband with an encoder, provided your channel is eligible, the connection can reliably carry the stream, and you have the rights to the music and visuals. For a practical starting setup, use RTMPS, H.264 at 720p30 and 3 Mbps, with 128 kbps stereo audio; leave at least 20% upload headroom and monitor the stream. A home setup is not guaranteed to stay live: power, computer, router, broadband and YouTube interruptions can all stop it.
What you need before going live
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- An encoder that can send a live stream to YouTube, plus a computer capable of running it continuously.
- An Airtel connection whose measured upload capacity is sufficient for the chosen bitrate, including headroom for other network activity.
- Permission to stream every track and visual element, including the rights needed for live transmission and any saved archive.
- A plan for what you will do if the computer, power, router, broadband or stream fails.
Set up the YouTube stream and protect its key
- In YouTube Studio, create a live stream for encoder software. You can schedule it or configure a reusable stream in YouTube’s live settings. Follow Manage live stream settings for the current controls.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. The key authorizes a broadcast to your channel, so treat it like a password: do not share it or show it in screenshots. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Choose whether the encoder stream should start and stop automatically using YouTube’s available auto-start and auto-stop controls. These controls govern starting and ending a broadcast; they do not guarantee recovery after a failure.
Check Airtel upload capacity under real conditions
Do not size the stream from the plan’s headline speed or a download-speed result. Measure upload speed at the location and during the hours the stream will run, then repeat the measurement during a realistic encoder test. YouTube recommends testing the upload bitrate and keeping 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate; other devices and household use need capacity too. Its guidance warns that “A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream.” Read YouTube’s streaming tips.
A wired Ethernet connection to the router is an optional way to reduce reliance on Wi-Fi conditions; YouTube’s cited guidance calls for a reliable connection, not a mandatory cable. Regardless of connection type, judge the setup by a sustained test, not one speed-test result.

For a mostly static lofi visual, 720p at 30 fps is a reasonable low-demand starting point. YouTube’s recommended H.264 video bitrate for 720p30 is 3 Mbps. The exact quality you should use depends on your upload stability and the visual detail in your scene; test a lower profile if the connection cannot sustain this one.

YouTube’s current encoder reference is Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. If you reduce the bitrate or resolution to fit the connection, check the resulting image and audio in the Live Control Room preview before broadcasting publicly.
Estimate the data use and check your Airtel plan
A 3 Mbps video plus 128 kbps audio is about 3.13 Mbps before protocol overhead. At that bitrate, a continuous stream transfers approximately 1.0 TB over 30 days using decimal units. This is a calculation from those settings, not an Airtel or YouTube published usage figure; actual traffic varies with overhead and interruptions. Other household traffic adds to your connection’s total use.

Bharti Airtel’s published Xstream Fiber terms state a fair-use threshold of 3,333 GB per billing cycle and say speed may be reduced to up to 2 Mbps after that threshold. The terms also reserve Airtel’s ability to amend the fair-use policy. This is not a promise that every Airtel product or plan has identical terms: check the current terms for your own plan and actual account usage. A 3.13 Mbps stream alone is below that published threshold in the simple 30-day calculation, but overhead, other devices, higher settings and changed terms matter.
TRAI says it does not prescribe a minimum broadband speed; providers must indicate typical speeds and their fair-use limits. See its Broadband FAQ. An advertised “up to” speed therefore does not tell you the upload performance your stream will actually receive at a particular place and time.

Clear the music and visual rights
You are responsible for obtaining the necessary rights for all content in the live broadcast. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions state that creators represent and warrant they have the rights needed to use Live Content on Google services, including music licensing rights. Confirm that the license covers the intended territories, live transmission and—if enabled—the archived stream. A track being available to listen to online does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it.
Live streams can be interrupted or terminated when third-party content is detected. An archived live stream can also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast ends; see YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams. Keep records of permissions and licenses, and do not assume that a lofi, royalty-free or creator-provided label alone grants every right you need.

Test before making the stream public
- Start the encoder and check that YouTube receives the feed in Live Control Room.
- Inspect the preview for the actual video, audio balance, dropped frames or other warnings. Test representative sections of the playlist, including any transitions or animated visuals.
- Run the setup long enough to expose intermittent upload or device problems, and check stream health while it runs.
- Only after the preview and test are satisfactory, make the stream public or start the scheduled broadcast.
- Decide how you will respond to a power, computer, router or broadband outage. Test your restart procedure rather than assuming the stream will recover by itself.
YouTube recommends preflight testing and monitoring stream health. Auto-start and auto-stop settings do not establish automatic fault recovery or uninterrupted uptime, so a local setup should be treated as an operating goal, not a guarantee.
