You can run a 24/7 YouTube livestream of Minecraft survival VODs by creating an encoder stream in YouTube Live Control Room and feeding it a playlist of recordings. The encoder can run on a computer you keep online, or a cloud service can send uploaded videos without requiring your computer to stay on. YouTube does not guarantee uninterrupted broadcasting or monetization, and you should confirm rights for the gameplay, music, and other material before going live.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days, and meets YouTube’s minimum age requirement of 16. YouTube lists an encoder as a streaming method commonly used for gameplay and overlays. Check YouTube’s current live-streaming requirements.
- A playlist of recordings you have the necessary rights to broadcast and archive.
- An encoder that can play the recordings in sequence and send a continuous feed to YouTube. This can be local software or a hosted playlist service.
- A plan for monitoring the stream and responding if playback or the connection fails.
A “24/7” stream describes your operating goal, not a YouTube uptime guarantee. The sources cited here do not establish a maximum stream duration, required computer specification, network minimum, or universally suitable bitrate and resolution. Use the current guidance for the encoder you choose rather than relying on a guessed setting.
Set up the Minecraft VOD livestream
- Curate and check your VODs. Make a playlist from recordings you own or are otherwise authorized to use. Remove music and other third-party material unless its live and archived uses are cleared. Consider whether the selected videos make a varied, coherent program rather than simply repeating identical footage.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Choose stream settings suitable for your audience and decide whether you intend to keep the livestream archive public. YouTube’s interface and available options can change, so consult its live-streaming setup guidance for the current workflow.
- Connect the encoder. Enter the stream URL and private stream key from Live Control Room into your encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish it, include it in a public screenshot, or reuse it where it could be exposed.
- Configure continuous playback. Set the encoder to play the VOD files in order or as a playlist and keep sending the feed. A third-party practical guide describes local software and cloud services as possible sources, but it does not establish current settings for a particular encoder. See the practical overview of prerecorded YouTube streams; consult the chosen encoder’s current documentation for exact menus and technical settings.
- Start and verify the feed. Start the encoder, then check the preview and stream health in Live Control Room. Confirm that video and audio are present and that transitions between VODs work as intended.
- Monitor and recover. Check the playlist, audio, stream health, and any interruptions during the broadcast. Have a way to restart the encoder or switch to a holding slate if playback stops. These are operational precautions, not a promise of uninterrupted service.
Rights and YouTube copyright checks
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for third-party content. If it identifies such material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; unresolved material can temporarily interrupt or terminate the broadcast. If the stream is archived, Content ID claims may be made after it ends. YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams explains these risks.

Minecraft-specific permission for an unattended, continuously looped VOD stream is not established here. Before broadcasting, check the current Minecraft creator guidelines and any terms that apply to your edition, mods, server footage, and music. Do not assume that owning a recording or avoiding a Content ID match automatically grants commercial rights.
Will Minecraft gameplay VODs be monetized?
Not necessarily. YouTube says monetization of game footage depends on the commercial-use rights granted by the game publisher. It also warns that extended videos simply showing someone playing a game may not be accepted; its example of potentially monetizable footage includes commentary tied to gameplay that provides instructional or educational value. Copyright clearance and monetization eligibility are separate questions. YouTube’s channel monetization policies require original, authentic content and say highly repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible. Similar formats may be allowed when the substance is materially varied and provides creative, educational, or other value. Curating episodes with distinct context, commentary, or useful variation may make the programming more meaningful, but it does not guarantee eligibility. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Eligible channels may have live monetization features such as ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and memberships, but YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. Availability depends on channel eligibility and current platform rules; see YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.

Do archived livestream hours count toward YPP watch hours?
YouTube’s August 12, 2026 explanation says qualified watch hours can come from public long-form videos and archived livestreams, while unarchived livestreams are among the watch time that does not qualify. Keep an archive public and available if you want its eligible watch time to count, and check the current eligibility rules: not every view or stream configuration is guaranteed to qualify. A local encoder gives you direct control over playback, but the computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available for the feed to continue. A hosted service can send uploaded recordings from the cloud instead. Compare options based on recurring cost, playlist and recovery controls, stream-health visibility, output quality, and how the stream key is handled. Do not treat a provider’s uptime or recovery as guaranteed unless its current terms state that clearly.

Common problems and fixes
- Live Control Room will not let you start. Check that the channel is verified, meets the age requirement, and has no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. Confirm current requirements in YouTube Help.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder. Check for third-party music or other material in the VODs. Review any YouTube warning, remove or replace material you are not cleared to use, then resume only when the feed and rights issue are resolved. See YouTube’s live copyright guidance.
- The stream goes offline when playback stops. Check the encoder and playlist for a failed file or transition, then restart playback or switch to a holding slate. YouTube does not guarantee that a continuous feed will remain uninterrupted.
- The archive receives a Content ID claim. Review the claim and the rights for the matched material. Live scanning and post-stream archive claims are distinct points at which third-party content may be identified; consult YouTube’s copyright guidance.
- The channel is not eligible for monetization. Check the channel’s originality and repetitiveness against YouTube’s monetization policies, and separately verify publisher commercial-use rights for game footage using its game-content guidance.
