You can keep a Tamil podcast archive live on YouTube by sending a playlist or other episode feed through an encoder connected to YouTube Live Control Room. For a dependable 24/7 operation, plan multiple shorter broadcasts rather than relying on one stream that runs indefinitely: YouTube says streams over 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a separate recording, monitor the feed, and confirm that you have rights to rebroadcast every episode and its music or clips.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube states that streamers must be at least 16 years old. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
- An encoder that can send your episode playback to YouTube. YouTube’s setup guide explains how to connect an encoder, but it does not prescribe a particular playlist automation tool, computer, operating system, or continuous-loop architecture.
- Your episode files or playlist, a reliable way to play them in sequence, and a separate local recording or archive.
- Cleared rights for the podcast recordings and all embedded material, including intro and outro music, guest contributions, clips, effects, artwork, and video.
Set up the YouTube live stream
- Check eligibility. In YouTube Studio, confirm that the channel can go live. Resolve any active restriction before scheduling; YouTube requires that the channel not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and sets a minimum age of 16. Check YouTube’s current requirements.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Choose the Stream workflow to create a stream, or Manage to schedule one. Follow the encoder setup shown in Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup guide covers the connection process.
- Copy the stream URL and key into the encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in screenshots, recordings, or on-air content. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube before continuing.
- Connect your episode playback. Set the encoder’s source to your podcast playlist or playback workflow. Test the order, transitions, audio levels, and what happens if playback or the encoder stops. The YouTube setup guidance does not specify a universal looping configuration, so verify your chosen setup before making the stream public.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Wait for the signal in Live Control Room. Check picture and audio there before starting the broadcast in YouTube. YouTube recommends testing first and monitoring the stream while it is live. Review YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Record independently. Keep a local recording or copy of the source files, and check that the recording file is present and growing. Do not treat the YouTube replay as your only archive.
Plan sessions around YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit
YouTube Help says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you,” and warns that “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Automatic archiving is not a guarantee that every shorter stream will produce a complete replay. Read YouTube’s archive guidance.
For continuous availability, break the schedule into planned sessions comfortably shorter than 12 hours. Assign someone or configure your workflow to end and restart broadcasts, check that the new session is live, and verify each replay in YouTube Studio’s Live tab. YouTube does not establish a guaranteed uninterrupted 24/7 service or a specific restart interval. Retain the original episode files or a separate local recording in case a replay is missing or incomplete.

Clear rights before rebroadcasting episodes
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including other broadcasts. If it detects a match, it may replace the live feed with a placeholder and warn you to stop using the material; an unresolved match can interrupt or terminate the stream. A Content ID claim may also be made on an archived live stream after it ends. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

If you have a licence, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist where needed. A licence alone may not prevent an interruption, including when territorial restrictions apply. YouTube’s Live Stream Terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for live content on Google services worldwide, including applicable music rights, and to follow laws and regulatory requirements in the territory where the stream is available.
Before scheduling an episode, check the podcast recording and every embedded element. An episode having appeared in your archive does not by itself establish that you can rebroadcast it live or leave the resulting replay online.

Monitor the stream and protect the archive
- Test the exact playback and encoder setup before public use; check the Live Control Room preview for sound and picture.
- Monitor audio and video continuously while live, and check that listeners can access the channel and watch page on both desktop and mobile.
- Verify local recordings are intact and that file size continues to increase. Choose storage capacity based on the recording bitrate, format, and how long you intend to retain files; there is no single capacity that suits every setup.
- For an India-based operation, test the actual upload connection, power continuity, and recovery procedure where and when the stream will run. YouTube’s cited guidance does not give a universal India-specific upload-speed threshold, UPS size, or hardware specification.
- After each session, confirm the replay appears in YouTube Studio’s Live tab. Arrange the completed episodes and highlight clips into playlists so listeners can find them later. YouTube’s archive guidance also recommends retaining a local backup.
Can archived podcast livestreams count toward watch hours?
YouTube Creator Liaison Rene Ritchie’s official blog post dated Aug 12, 2026 says qualified YPP watch hours can come from public long-form videos, including podcasts, and archived livestreams. Hours from livestreams that are not archived do not qualify. This explains a form of eligibility; it does not guarantee monetization, earnings, or any particular number of views or watch hours. Archive status, privacy, channel eligibility, viewer behavior, claims, and current program rules still matter. Read YouTube’s Aug 12, 2026 explanation.
