You can run a YouTube Live product demo by confirming your channel is eligible, choosing a production method, setting up the broadcast in YouTube Studio, and assigning someone to monitor it. For a stream that should run around the clock, plan for interruptions and recovery: YouTube does not promise that a creator’s live session will stay online indefinitely. Your YouTube broadcast, any product-tagging features, and your shop’s own checkout are separate systems.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and have no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. The creator must be at least 16. Confirm that live access is available in YouTube Studio before promoting the stream, and resolve any restriction first. YouTube’s current guidance also lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key; check the help page again when planning concurrent broadcasts because platform details can change. Choose how to produce the demo

YouTube describes encoder streaming as useful when a production needs overlays or equipment such as microphones and cameras. No specific camera, encoder, bitrate, or network threshold is established here, so test the equipment and connection you intend to use rather than relying on a guessed specification. - Open with the shop name and what the stream demonstrates.
- Show the product name and the current price, checked against the shop’s own listing.
- Give viewers a clear close-up of details, then demonstrate how the product is used.
- State relevant stock, offer, delivery, or availability limits accurately, and update the presentation when they change.
- Display or say how viewers can contact the shop or reach its current buying channel.
Do not assume the stream itself processes orders. Keep the route to purchase explicit and make sure the shop’s own checkout or contact information is current.
Create the broadcast and rehearse it
- Open YouTube Studio and Live Control Room. Create or schedule the broadcast and enter its title and other stream details. Scheduling gives viewers an advance link.
- Connect your production method. For an encoder, follow Google’s production workflow to configure the encoder and connect it to Live Control Room with the stream key. Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it publicly. Google’s live-production guide
- Rehearse as a private stream. YouTube’s surfaced live checklist recommends testing the full setup privately. Check the connection, camera framing, audio, and lighting before going public.
- Check the product presentation. Confirm that labels, prices, and important product details are readable in the chosen framing. YouTube supports horizontal and vertical experiences, including vertical streams that may appear in the Shorts feed under the conditions in its help guidance; frame key information so it remains visible in the format you choose. - Test the recovery process. During rehearsal, make sure the assigned operator knows how to identify a frozen or disconnected feed and who is responsible for reconnecting or replacing it.
Keep chat open only if someone can moderate it and answer questions. A private rehearsal is also the time to confirm that the stream key points to the intended broadcast, rather than discovering a configuration problem after viewers arrive.

Operate a continuous stream as a staffed process
The available YouTube guidance does not establish a guaranteed maximum or indefinite single-session duration, nor an uptime service level for a creator’s internet connection, power, encoder, or channel. A 24/7 plan therefore needs an explicit operating arrangement, not just a start button.
- Name who checks stream health and how often.
- Decide how the operator will notice a frozen picture, silent audio, or disconnection.
- Assign who can restart the encoder or broadcast and who covers that person’s absence.
- Plan for shop power or internet outages, equipment failure, and changes to prices or stock.
- Set a process to pause or replace the demo when its claims, offer, or availability are no longer accurate.
YouTube offers mobile, webcam, encoder, and console methods, but the shop remains responsible for monitoring its own equipment and stream. Do not describe a creator broadcast as guaranteed to stay live without interruption.

Keep YouTube features and shop sales distinct
Product tags are conditional
YouTube’s product-tagging guidance covers tagging products in live streams, along with eligibility exclusions and disclosure obligations. It does not establish that every Indian retail shop can tag its own catalogue. Check the feature in Studio for the specific channel and follow its current eligibility and disclosure rules. Ads, fan funding, and Gifts are not retail checkout
YouTube’s live monetization guidance says ads can be served when a channel is monetized and monetization is enabled. Controls and availability depend on the channel, so check current options in Live Control Room rather than budgeting on ad income. Fan-funding features require acceptance into the YouTube Partner Program, age 18 or older, and residence in a region where the particular feature is available; verify access for the channel in Studio. Measure the stream and the sales route separately
Review YouTube analytics to understand the broadcast’s audience and viewing performance. Track store visits, enquiries, and orders separately using the shop’s own analytics or records. YouTube analytics do not establish that every shop can attribute its sales to a live stream.
