You can run a continuous YouTube music stream by feeding a prepared, rights-cleared song rotation into a streaming encoder such as OBS and keeping the encoder and its internet connection available. But do not start with the playlist: you need explicit permission for continuous live rebroadcast and any saved archive. Chillhop Music’s official creator terms expressly prohibit using its music to create a 24/7 stream, so its creator program does not authorize this format.
First, clear the music rights for a 24/7 broadcast
A song being available to stream, downloaded, licensed for ordinary creator videos, or included in a playlist does not by itself establish permission for continuous YouTube radio. Before building the rotation, get written confirmation from the relevant rights holders that the exact use is allowed.

Ask for permission that covers the complete use
Ask the label, distributor, publisher, or other actual rights holders to confirm that you may use the tracks in a continuous YouTube livestream. Clarify the territories covered, whether YouTube may archive the broadcast as a replay or VOD, and whether the permission covers both the sound recording and the underlying composition. Also ask how Content ID claims will be handled and whether the channel can be added to the appropriate Content ID allowlist. YouTube says a licensed livestream can still be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel (YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams).
Do not use Chillhop’s creator catalog for this format
Chillhop Music’s official Creators FAQ says: “Please do not use our music to create your own 24/7 music stream. If this happens, it will be taken down.” The FAQ also limits creator use to tracks in its dashboard, requires credits for permitted uses, says its music is not royalty-free, and says not to use its Spotify or Apple Music playlists as livestream sources. Credits or access to that creator program do not override its express 24/7 restriction. Do not use its artwork or logos for this stream either.

Keep written records
Save the license, the specific tracks it covers, any territorial or archive limits, and written confirmation of allowlisting or claim-handling arrangements. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with the label or distributor when using copyright-protected music in a livestream (YouTube for Artists). No particular catalog is established here as cleared for this use; obtain terms from the actual rights holders before broadcasting.
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility
Before preparing the stream, confirm that your channel can go live. YouTube’s current encoder-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified, must have had no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. The same page states a limit of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. These are platform rules, not permanent guarantees; check the current YouTube encoder-streaming guidance before setup.
Build the song rotation and encoder workflow
For a continuous program with a designed visual, use YouTube’s encoder workflow. An encoder sends the audio and video program to YouTube; the rotation itself is a separate piece of the setup. YouTube identifies encoders as suitable for streams with overlays and more elaborate audiovisual arrangements (YouTube’s encoder guidance).
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
1. Prepare a rights-cleared rotation
Organize only the tracks your written permissions cover. Decide the order, whether and how tracks repeat, and what happens if a track fails to load. Choose an audio player, playlist source, or other rotation method that can feed the encoder, then verify its actual behavior before going live. The sources cited here do not establish a built-in OBS song scheduler or a specific rotation application, so do not assume the encoder will create or manage the playlist for you.
2. Prepare the visual and audio program
Set up the encoder with the audio source that will play the rotation and the intended visual, such as a static image or a designed loop. Check that the audio reaches the encoder, the visual is present, and transitions between tracks do not leave unintended silence or stop the program. Test the complete chain privately or in an appropriate test setup before making the broadcast public.

3. Connect the encoder through YouTube Live Control Room
-
Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or configure the livestream using YouTube’s encoder route.
-
Copy the stream key from YouTube into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with people who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.

Start the encoder and confirm that YouTube receives the intended video and audio before starting the public broadcast.
-
Keep the Live Control Room and encoder connection status available for monitoring during the stream.
OBS is one free, open-source encoder option; OBS says it connects directly from the computer to the streaming destination and is available under GPLv2 for commercial use (OBS). OBS does not itself grant music rights or establish a complete, unattended radio-rotation workflow.

4. Choose whether to archive the stream
If YouTube archives the livestream, make sure your written permissions cover the saved replay as well as the live broadcast. YouTube says Content ID claims on archived livestreams are made after the stream ends when the creator chooses to archive it (YouTube’s copyright guidance).

A 24/7 stream depends on the whole chain: the rotation source, encoder, computer or host, internet connection, and YouTube ingest. OBS notes that dropped frames can indicate an unstable connection or a connection unable to sustain the configured bitrate (OBS: Dropped Frames and General Connection Issues). Monitor both encoder and Live Control Room status and investigate connection warnings rather than assuming the playlist is still reaching viewers.
YouTube scans all livestreams for matches to third-party material. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, issue a warning, temporarily interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike may also terminate a stream. YouTube says to stop using the matched material when warned; a license alone may not prevent interruption without channel allowlisting (YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams).
The cited encoder guidance does not establish a hardware minimum, a guaranteed bitrate for your connection, or an unattended restart and failover design for 24/7 operation. Test your own setup, monitor it, and decide how you will respond if the encoder, computer, connection, or rotation stops. Do not treat an always-on schedule as proof that the stream will remain online without oversight.
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely issue | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder | YouTube detected third-party content, or the channel has a live-stream restriction. | Check Live Control Room alerts, stop using matched material, and contact the rights holder about the match and Content ID allowlisting. Confirm the channel remains eligible to livestream. |
| Licensed music still triggers an interruption | The rights holder may not have added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. | Ask the rights holder to allowlist the channel and confirm that the permission covers the stream’s territories and any archive. |
| Encoder reports dropped frames | The connection may be unstable or unable to sustain its configured bitrate. | Check the network and encoder status, then adjust the configuration or connection so it can sustain the stream. OBS identifies connection instability or insufficient capacity as causes of dropped frames. |
| Video is live but the rotation is silent or stuck | The playlist or audio source may have stopped, failed to load a track, or stopped feeding the encoder. | Check the rotation source and its output to the encoder, then test track transitions and repeat behavior before restoring the broadcast. |
| Broadcast starts but does not stay up unattended | A computer, encoder, rotation source, network, or ingest failure may have interrupted the chain. | Check each component’s status and determine how it can be restarted or recovered. The cited sources do not validate a particular restart or failover configuration. |
Or let it run in the cloud
For an uploaded-video rotation on YouTube, StreamNeo offers a cloud alternative to keeping an encoder computer and home connection running. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not broadcast from a camera, and it streams to YouTube only.

Estimate upload time and compare operating costs
For a DIY encoder, include the cost of a computer or host that can remain available, reliable internet, power, and the time needed to monitor and recover the stream. The cited sources do not establish a minimum computer specification or a tested cost comparison, so calculate for your own setup rather than relying on a generic hardware recommendation.
For a cloud workflow, compare the slot duration and storage you need with the costs of keeping your own equipment and connection running. StreamNeo offers daily, weekly, monthly, six-month, and yearly billing; the same product is included on each plan, with the billing length changing. Its upload-time calculator can help estimate how long uploads may take, and its cloud vs PC cost calculator can help structure the comparison. Review the copyright safety checklist as a planning aid, but it does not replace written permission from rights holders or YouTube allowlisting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run this from a phone or webcam?
YouTube lists mobile and webcam as livestream methods, but a continuous music program with a designed visual is better matched to its encoder workflow.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Does using a playlist or crediting a track make it legal to livestream?
No. A playlist, credit, or consumer music subscription does not by itself establish the rights needed for continuous live rebroadcast or an archive.
