You can run a prerecorded yoga nidra YouTube stream around the clock from a Linux VPS by using FFmpeg to loop rights-cleared media and send it to YouTube Live over RTMPS. Configure the process to start at boot and recover from process failures, then test the actual stream and monitor YouTube’s stream health. A low monthly VPS price alone does not establish that a server can sustain the workload: check its CPU policy, data-transfer allowance, region, total charges, and acceptable-use terms before committing.
What you need before setting up the stream
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned start.
- A Linux VPS with enough sustained CPU capacity for your chosen FFmpeg workload, sufficient outbound data, and terms that permit continuous streaming. The appropriate CPU size depends on the source media, encoder settings, and provider throttling; an ingest bitrate does not tell you how much encoding capacity the VPS needs.
- FFmpeg installed on the server, plus a prepared video and audio file you are entitled to stream.
- Access to YouTube Live Control Room to retrieve the RTMPS server URL and the stream key for the broadcast.
- A way to inspect logs and detect a stopped or unhealthy stream. A process manager can restart FFmpeg, but it cannot guarantee that the media, network, VPS, or YouTube ingest will remain healthy.
YouTube says to test with audio and video movement similar to the planned broadcast and to monitor stream health. A mostly still meditation visual still deserves a real end-to-end test.
Choose a stream schedule with archives in mind
A single process can keep sending a continuous feed, but a very long broadcast has a YouTube archive trade-off. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. If a replay or rewind matters, schedule separate sessions shorter than 12 hours and retain a local archive where appropriate. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance and DVR guidance.

Use media you have the right to stream
Rights apply to the entire broadcast, not only its visuals. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the necessary rights to exploit live content worldwide, including music licensing rights. Use original or appropriately licensed yoga nidra narration, music, ambience, artwork, and video; retain evidence of the permissions or licenses. A file being available online does not by itself grant streaming rights. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.

Start with a supported output profile
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). For H.264 at 720p30, YouTube lists 3 Mbps as the minimum and 8 Mbps as the recommended bitrate. A prepared 720p feed is a reasonable test starting point for a static or gently animated visual, not proof that a particular inexpensive VPS can encode it continuously. Check the current YouTube encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution recommendations, then verify the output and health in practice.
Get the right endpoint and protect the key
In YouTube Live Control Room, create or open the stream, expose its settings, and copy the RTMPS URL and its associated stream key. Use the endpoint shown for that stream rather than copying one from an unrelated guide. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, commit it to a public repository, or make it readable to other server users. Google’s RTMPS ingestion guidance describes RTMPS as RTMP tunneled through SSL/TLS and specifies port 443; its implementation guidance also calls for correct server-hostname (SNI) authentication.

Run FFmpeg from a Linux VPS
The signal path is simple: prepared media files → FFmpeg loop and encoder → RTMPS over TLS → YouTube Live. Exact FFmpeg options depend on the media and the YouTube settings selected for the stream. The following is an illustrative command shape, not a complete, tested configuration: replace the paths and settings with values appropriate to your media and account, and use a securely stored key.

-r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://YOUTUBE_ENDPOINT/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
This example illustrates a 720p30 H.264-style starting profile and a two-second keyframe interval at 30 frames per second. It does not establish that the chosen VPS has sufficient sustained CPU capacity, that the file’s dimensions and frame rate match the command, or that the placeholder endpoint is valid. Use the actual RTMPS address and key from Live Control Room, confirm the server supports RTMPS, and test the resulting stream before relying on it. Avoid putting a real key in a command history, exposed process listing, or public service definition; use a protected configuration or secret mechanism suitable for the server.
Keep the process running with systemd
systemd is a common Linux deployment choice, not a YouTube requirement. Create a dedicated, least-privilege service account; restrict access to media and secret files; and configure a service to launch FFmpeg at boot and restart after process failure. A community example of the FFmpeg-and-systemd pattern is available at this implementation repository; it is an illustration, not a Google-certified deployment.
Configure logs to be available through journald and prevent unbounded log growth with appropriate retention or rotation. Add an external check or alert so you know if the process is down or YouTube reports unhealthy ingest. A setting such as Restart=always can restart a failed process; it does not fix a bad media file, a broken route to YouTube, an expired or incorrect key, server throttling, or an upstream outage.
Select an Indian VPS by total operating cost, not sticker price
No specific cheapest Indian VPS plan can be recommended from the available verified plan information. Compare current provider terms before purchase rather than assuming that a low advertised monthly fee covers sustained encoding and continuous outbound traffic.

|---|---|
| India-region availability | Confirm the provider actually offers the location you want; do not assume an India billing address means the server is in India. |
| Sustained CPU policy | Check whether continuous FFmpeg encoding is allowed and whether CPU is dedicated, shared, capped, or throttled. |
| Outbound transfer and overages | A continuous stream sends data all month. Check the included transfer quota, overage rates, and whether traffic is billed by volume or another policy. |
| All-in monthly bill | Include taxes, storage, IPv4 or address fees, any bandwidth charges, billing currency, and renewal pricing. |
| Storage and operational terms | Confirm the media fits, backups are possible if needed, support is adequate for your use, and the acceptable-use policy permits continuous streaming. |
| Cancellation and billing terms | Know the renewal cycle and how to stop charges if the workload does not perform as expected. |
Do not size the VPS from YouTube’s recommended ingest bitrate alone. Encoding demand varies with source format, resolution, encoder, and instance performance; provider CPU limits and transfer rules vary as well.

Test before leaving the channel unattended
- Enable live streaming early. Confirm the channel is eligible and allow time for first-time activation.
- Prepare and review the media. Check the complete loop, audio levels, visual continuity, file readability, and rights for every component.
- Configure the YouTube stream. Copy the RTMPS endpoint and matching key from Live Control Room; confirm the encoder settings for that stream.
- Run a representative test. Include comparable audio and visual movement, and check YouTube’s stream-health feedback instead of assuming a quiet image is easy to ingest.
- Exercise recovery and monitoring. Confirm service startup at boot, inspect logs, and verify that alerts or checks detect a stopped process and an unhealthy broadcast.
- Choose the session length deliberately. If YouTube replay archives or DVR rewind are important, use sessions shorter than 12 hours rather than relying on one extra-long broadcast.
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| FFmpeg cannot connect to YouTube | Wrong URL scheme, endpoint, port, or missing RTMPS support | Copy the RTMPS endpoint from Live Control Room, confirm the encoder supports RTMPS, and check that the connection uses port 443. |
| TLS or certificate/SNI error | Incorrect hostname handling or an endpoint that does not match the stream’s server | Use the exact YouTube endpoint and verify that the client supports correct SNI/hostname authentication before changing bitrate settings. |
| YouTube rejects the stream key | Key typo, key for another stream, or key exposure/reset | Copy the associated key again in Live Control Room, ensure it belongs to the selected broadcast, and replace any key that may have been exposed. |
| Stream health is poor or playback stalls | Unstable VPS network, insufficient sustained encoding capacity, mismatched settings, or source-file problems | Check FFmpeg logs and YouTube stream health, confirm the selected resolution/bitrate and media properties, and ask the provider about throttling and transfer limits. |
| Stream stops after a server or process failure | Service configuration or broader VPS/network outage | Inspect systemd and FFmpeg logs, verify the service restarts, and use an independent alert. Restart policy alone does not restore every failure mode. |
| No replay appears after a long broadcast | The broadcast exceeded YouTube’s 12-hour archive threshold | Do not assume an over-12-hour stream will be captured; schedule shorter sessions and preserve a local copy if an archive is essential. |
Or let it run in the cloud
