You can run a 24/7 Tamil “study with me” livestream by sending prerecorded footage to YouTube through an encoder such as OBS Studio, which loops the files on a computer that stays on. If you do not want a computer hosting the stream around the clock, a cloud service can play uploaded recordings instead. In either setup, confirm your channel is eligible, clear the rights to every video and sound, test the broadcast, and plan for YouTube’s 12-hour archive limitation.
Before you start: channel access and recordings
Enable livestreaming early
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Initial livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before the day you plan to launch. See YouTube’s livestreaming access guidance and encoder setup guidance.
Prepare footage and sound you have rights to use
Choose recordings in the order you want viewers to see them, then decide whether the stream will include music, room sound, or silence. You are responsible for having the rights needed to use the footage and audio worldwide, including music licensing rights. YouTube may scan live content for third-party matches; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and a continuing match can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A Tamil study stream might show a fixed study desk, handwritten notes, or a timed study session. Make sure any visible material, background audio, and other people appearing in the recording are covered by your permissions. YouTube does not guarantee that repeated or prerecorded streams will be monetized: its monetization review also considers reused and “inauthentic” content, and eligibility depends on the channel and the content.

How to stream and loop recordings locally with OBS
1. Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create a new livestream or schedule one. Set the title, description, visibility, and other stream details for your Tamil study session.
- Choose the encoder option and copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the broadcast. YouTube lets you reuse stream settings; check that you have selected the intended stream before connecting.
Treat the stream key like a password. Anyone who has it can send a feed to your stream, so do not post it, include it in a public screenshot, or share it with people who do not need access. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain how the URL and key connect your encoder.
2. Add a recording and enable looping in OBS
- Open OBS Studio and add a Media Source to the scene you want to broadcast.
- Select the local video file you want to play.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source settings. When playback reaches the end, OBS starts the file again.
- For a playlist rather than one looping file, OBS also provides a VLC Video source. VLC must be installed for this source; its playlist loop is enabled by default. Add the recordings in the order you want them played and check that the playlist behaves as intended.
OBS documents these options on its Media Sources page. Preview the scene and listen to its audio before going live; a correct YouTube connection does not by itself confirm that the intended video or sound is playing.

3. Connect OBS to YouTube and start the broadcast
- In OBS, open Settings and select Stream.
- Choose YouTube as the service, then enter the stream URL and key from the Live Control Room if OBS requests them. Labels can vary with OBS versions and connection methods; use the current fields displayed in your OBS installation.
- Return to the YouTube Live Control Room and wait for the incoming feed and preview.
- Check the preview and audio, then start streaming from OBS. Confirm that the YouTube watch page is live before leaving the setup.
A locally hosted stream depends on the computer running OBS, the video files remaining accessible, power, and a working internet connection. If the computer sleeps, shuts down, loses its connection, or OBS stops, the feed can stop too. Use a computer you already have if it can play the recordings and remain available; the cited guidance does not establish a minimum computer specification or a guaranteed connection speed.

Check the stream before relying on it
- Use YouTube’s test-stream and preview workflow before the planned launch.
- Open the watch page on your channel and on a mobile device to check what viewers actually receive.
- Check that the picture is moving, the intended audio level is audible, and the right recording or playlist is playing.
- If you are recording an archive locally, confirm the file is being written and growing. Keep a separate local backup of important recordings.

Do not rely on a single 24-hour archive
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. That means a continuous 24/7 broadcast is not a dependable way to produce one complete YouTube replay. If replays matter, schedule shorter sessions and record locally as a backup; do not assume a stream that runs all day will leave a complete archive.
Hosting options: computer or cloud
The local OBS method gives you direct control over playback, but the computer and connection must remain available. YouTube’s encoder documentation also lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded streams; Gyre’s own service page describes uploading files, arranging a playlist, and scheduling a continuous stream. Those are vendor-described capabilities, not independent performance findings.

Troubleshooting common problems
YouTube does not show an incoming feed
- Likely cause: Livestreaming is not enabled yet, or the stream URL or key is incorrect.
- Fix: Check channel verification and restrictions, allow up to 24 hours for initial activation, and copy the URL and key from the correct Live Control Room stream. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
The stream is live, but the video is frozen or black
- Likely cause: The Media Source points to the wrong file, the file is unavailable, or the scene is not displaying the source.
- Fix: Confirm the local file path, reopen the Media Source settings, and verify the source is visible in the active OBS scene. Test playback in the OBS preview before reconnecting.
The recording stops instead of repeating
- Likely cause: Loop is disabled on the Media Source.
- Fix: Open that source’s settings and enable Loop. For a multi-video playlist, verify the VLC Video source and its playlist; VLC must be installed.
The stream stops when you leave the computer
- Likely cause: The host computer slept, lost power or internet, or OBS closed.
- Fix: Keep the computer powered and awake, prevent unintended sleep, and check the network and OBS process. If you do not want the stream to depend on a computer at home, use cloud hosting instead.
The broadcast is interrupted after a copyright match
- Likely cause: YouTube identified third-party material in the live feed.
- Fix: Remove or replace the matched material unless you have the necessary rights. If you have permission, contact the rights owner about adding your channel to the Content ID allowlist; having a license does not necessarily prevent an automated interruption by itself.
The stream does not produce a complete replay
- Likely cause: The continuous broadcast exceeded YouTube’s 12-hour archive threshold.
- Fix: Use shorter scheduled broadcasts and local recording when a replay is important. Keep a backup rather than relying on YouTube to archive a 24-hour stream.
