You can run a Tamil music radio-style stream on YouTube around the clock, but the first requirement is not an encoder: it is permission to use every recording and composition in a continuous live broadcast. Get written rights for the intended territories and any replay, arrange Content ID allowlisting with the relevant owners, then verify the channel and test the complete stream privately before launch. You can run the broadcast from your own encoder or use a cloud service to loop uploaded videos; neither method grants music rights or prevents a rights-based interruption.
Clear the music rights before you build the stream
A song being available online, or having permission to download it, does not by itself establish the rights needed for a 24/7 YouTube broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Agreements differ by repertoire and territory, so this is a practical checklist, not jurisdiction-specific legal advice.
Inventory each track
Make a track-by-track register before programming the station. Record the sound-recording owner, composition and publishing contacts, territories covered, permission document, permission expiry, archive or replay permission, and the agreed process for Content ID claims. A catalogue-level assurance is useful only if it actually covers the recordings and uses in your schedule.

| Music source | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Creator-owned or commissioned music | Confirm ownership or contributor agreements cover the master recording and composition, the intended countries and continuous live use, and any saved replay. Specify who manages Content ID and how your channel is to be allowlisted. |
| Third-party commercial catalogue | Obtain written permission that expressly covers YouTube live streaming, the relevant territories and duration, monetization if intended, and any replay. Confirm the agreement covers both the recording and composition rights as applicable, and get confirmation that the channel will be allowlisted for the tracks. |
Do not treat the two routes as interchangeable: the documents, owners and uses covered may differ. YouTube advises creators using copyright-protected music during a live stream to coordinate with the label or distributor. A licence alone may not stop an automated interruption; ask the relevant owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the permitted recordings.

Do not use Creator Music as a live-radio licence
YouTube’s Creator Music usage terms allow eligible tracks under its licensing or revenue-sharing options in long-form videos, but those options do not permit use in live streams. They are not a substitute for explicit live-stream permissions.
Prepare and verify the YouTube channel
YouTube’s live-stream guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days; its current guidance also sets a minimum streamer age of 16. YouTube for Artists recommends enabling first-time live access at least 24 hours before the intended broadcast. Allow time for that access and for a private test rather than scheduling the first attempt at launch time.

- Check eligibility. Verify the channel and check its live-stream status for restrictions before committing to a launch date.
- Enable live access early. If this is the channel’s first live stream, enable the feature at least 24 hours beforehand, following the channel’s available YouTube prompts.
- Choose an encoder workflow. Prepare a continuous audio-and-visual feed using an encoder workflow appropriate to your setup. YouTube supports more than one ingestion approach; use the protocol and settings specified for your chosen encoder rather than assuming a single configuration applies to all of them.
- Protect the stream key. Enter the key only in the encoder or service that is meant to broadcast to your channel. Do not publish it, share it in screenshots, or include it in a public playlist or document. If it is exposed, replace it through the channel’s live-stream controls and update the authorized encoder.
Build and test the continuous programme
Make the feed genuinely continuous
Prepare the playlist and visual feed so playback advances without an unintended stop at the end of a file or playlist. Check that audio levels remain consistent and that the visual is appropriate for the programme. YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test stream before a high-investment event; use one to check the entire chain, not just whether the encoder reports a connection.
- Confirm the playlist advances and loops as intended without gaps.
- Listen for clipping, silence, abrupt changes in level and playback faults.
- Confirm the visual feed is present and suitable throughout the test.
- Check that YouTube receives the stream and review YouTube Studio for warnings.
- Verify Content ID arrangements with the relevant rights owners before using the licensed tracks in the public broadcast.
HLS is a specific option, not a universal settings recipe
YouTube’s HLS ingestion documentation is aimed at encoder vendors. For that protocol, it specifies muxed audio and video in M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, HTTPS and media playlists. These are HLS-specific requirements, not settings to apply to every encoder workflow. Follow the documentation for the ingestion method your encoder actually uses.

Understand the broadcast and feed distinction
YouTube’s API treats a broadcast as a distinct video event and a stream as the audio-video feed carried into YouTube. Its documented 24/7 architecture can keep a continuous feed active while a separate broadcast, such as an interview, uses that feed and later ends. This distinction is useful when planning a station with separate programming events, but it is platform architecture rather than a required API setup for a basic continuous music channel.
Operate the station and recover from interruptions
Assign responsibility for checking the encoder and YouTube Studio, and write down who can restart the feed and contact rights owners. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If a stream is interrupted or replaced with a placeholder, stop or remove the matched material and check Studio for claims, strikes or restrictions; do not repeatedly restart with the same unreviewed track.
If you archive the broadcast, remember that YouTube may apply Content ID claims after a live stream has finished. Keep the replay only when the permissions cover the archive as well as the live use, and account for the added claim-review risk.

YouTube’s July 15, 2025 policy clarification renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” to make clear that repetitive or mass-produced material is included; the policy applies to live streams. A rotating playlist, static artwork or continuous duration does not by itself establish that a channel will qualify for the YouTube Partner Program. Consider whether the station offers original programming and viewer value, and do not promise monetization based only on keeping a feed online.
Best Value
There is audience context, but not a Tamil-specific forecast: YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That platform-wide figure does not estimate demand for a particular Tamil music station or predict its audience.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not keep a computer, encoder and home internet connection running, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. The setup is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera, and it streams to YouTube only.
- Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
- Every slot uses one flat price regardless of quality: uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encoding or quality tiers.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream; this does not replace music permissions or resolve a rights-based block.
- Each slot includes an always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, recovery, and StreamNeo team support. The same product is included on each plan; only the billing length changes.
- The first day is free with no card, once per account. Billing options are a day, a week, a month, six months or a year, and you can cancel any time. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.
The monthly option is $9.99 per month. Try StreamNeo with the free first day.
