You can run a continuous relaxation stream from a Windows laptop by creating a YouTube stream in Live Control Room, sending it through a Windows encoder, and keeping the laptop, encoder, internet connection, and power available. First enable live streaming on an eligible channel; YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. For a true 24/7 broadcast, plan for interruptions and do not rely on YouTube to save a complete replay of a stream longer than 12 hours.
Before you start: check channel eligibility and rights
- Your channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. YouTube’s getting-started guidance also requires streamers to be at least 16. If this is your first time enabling live streaming, activation may take up to 24 hours. YouTube: Get started with live streaming
- Use visuals and audio that you created or are properly licensed to stream. Keep permission and license records. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and can interrupt or terminate a stream. Even if you have a license, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the stream to avoid an automated interruption. YouTube Terms of Service
- Confirm that your channel and content meet YouTube’s applicable policies. YouTube’s monetization rules apply to live streams; repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible, so a static relaxation loop is not guaranteed to qualify. YouTube channel monetization policies
Prepare the laptop and connection
Measure upload speed and leave headroom
For a live encoder, upload bandwidth is the important direction: it is the data your connection sends to YouTube. Test the connection you will actually use, preferably at the location and time you plan to stream. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% bandwidth headroom above your stream’s bitrate. For example, a 6 Mbps video bitrate needs at least 7.5 Mbps of sustained upload capacity to leave that margin; audio and other network use also consume bandwidth. A wired Ethernet connection can be a practical way to reduce reliance on Wi-Fi, if your laptop and router support it. YouTube does not require a particular cable type, and wired networking cannot protect against an ISP outage or power loss.

YouTube recommends RTMPS and supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion. Its encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a keyframe interval of two seconds. Choose a resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate that your laptop can encode and your measured upload connection can sustain; there is no universally right setting for every laptop or internet plan. - Keyframe interval: 2 seconds.
- Video bitrate: within YouTube’s published range for the selected codec, resolution, and frame rate, with roughly 20% upload headroom.
Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go live to open Live Control Room. If live streaming is not enabled yet, complete the channel verification and activation steps and wait for activation; first-time access can take up to 24 hours.
- In Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream and enter its title, description, audience setting, and visibility. Choose settings that accurately describe the relaxation content and whether you intend it to be public, unlisted, or private.
- Open the stream settings and copy the stream URL and stream key. In your Windows encoder, select the matching RTMPS service/server option where available, then paste the URL and key into the corresponding fields. The exact labels vary by encoder.
- Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it. If it is exposed, reset or regenerate it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the new key.
- Set the encoder to the profile you selected, then start sending the feed. Wait for the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators to appear before making the stream public or starting the broadcast.

Test the broadcast and plan for interruptions
Run a private or unlisted test before launching a public 24/7 stream. Check that the picture and audio are present, the preview appears, and Live Control Room reports a healthy stream. Watch for dropped frames or connection warnings while the test runs. YouTube warns that connection disruptions can break a stream; if upload capacity fluctuates, lower the encoder bitrate or resolution until the connection can sustain it with headroom. A laptop-based broadcast depends on the laptop staying on, the encoder continuing to run, the local network and ISP remaining available, and power being maintained. YouTube recommends having a local recording backup. For a continuous stream, decide how you will notice and recover from a laptop crash, encoder failure, internet outage, or power interruption. The platform guidance does not establish a particular Windows power configuration or India-specific backup-power requirement, so verify the settings and local arrangements that apply to your hardware and location.

A continuous broadcast is not the same as a guaranteed complete video-on-demand archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube also says DVR rewind can be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. If retaining a complete recording matters, keep a local recording and plan how to split or preserve it independently of the live stream. YouTube: Archive live streams YouTube: DVR on live streams

Common problems and fixes
- Go Live is unavailable: Check channel verification, age eligibility, and live-streaming restrictions. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- Encoder cannot connect: Recheck the server URL and stream key in both YouTube Studio and the encoder. Confirm that the encoder is using the stream’s current key and supported protocol; reset the key if it may have been exposed.
- Stream health is unstable or frames drop: Compare the video bitrate with sustained upload speed, leave about 20% headroom, and reduce bitrate or resolution if needed. Check the Live Control Room health status while the stream is running.
- Audio or video is interrupted for a copyright match: Stop using the disputed material unless you have the necessary rights. Keep the relevant license evidence and confirm that the rights holder has allowlisted your channel when Content ID allowlisting is required.
- No complete replay appears: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive. Use a local recording if you need a complete copy.
