YouTube scans live streams for copyrighted matches, so owning audio files, crediting artists, or having a general music license does not necessarily prevent an interruption.
What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled. YouTube for Artists advises allowing 24 hours for activation, so do not leave this until launch day (YouTube for Artists: Going live).
- A Windows PC and desktop encoder, such as OBS, to send audio and visuals to YouTube. YouTube supports desktop encoders, and OBS publishes official setup and encoding guides (OBS Help). The cited guidance does not establish a universal minimum Windows specification.
- A stable internet connection, continuous power, a stream key from YouTube Studio, and a tested plan for interruptions.
- Written, song-specific permissions that cover both the sound recording and the underlying composition, as applicable, for the territories and duration you intend to stream.
When choosing a PC, assess sustained encoder performance at your target resolution, hardware encoding support, memory and storage headroom, cooling, power backup, and network reliability. No single model or configuration is established as sufficient for every 24/7 workload.
Clear music rights before building the playlist
For each track, identify the owner or authorized representative for the recording (the master) and the composition. Ask for written confirmation that the permission covers YouTube live streaming, any archived replay, your intended territories, the license term, and your channel’s monetization status. A license for one use, territory, or format may not cover the others.
YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party copyrighted content. A detected match can cause a placeholder to appear; if the issue is not resolved, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube also says that even licensed creators should ask the relevant rights holder to add their channel to its Content ID allowlist, since a live stream may otherwise still be interrupted (YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams).

Coordinate with the label or distributor when using protected music. YouTube for Artists specifically recommends this to help avoid issues such as copyright strikes (YouTube for Artists). Confirm who can authorize both the master and composition, and who can arrange any required allowlisting. Do not assume a catalog or license clears every version of a song or every territory.
YouTube’s live Content ID matching feature is not a setting ordinary channels can turn on to make commercial songs safe to broadcast. It is limited to qualifying Content Manager partners and requires global rights and exclusive ownership (YouTube Help: Live Content ID matching). The cited guidance does not establish whether any particular Marathi song, recording, label, or distributor has granted permission. Enable and configure the YouTube livestream
- Verify the channel and enable livestreaming in advance. Follow YouTube’s channel verification and live activation flow, then allow the 24-hour activation window YouTube for Artists recommends. Check that the channel can go live before preparing a launch.
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream. In the YouTube account that owns the channel, use the live-streaming controls to create a broadcast, set its title and visibility, and obtain the stream key or connection details for the encoder. Keep the key private; anyone with access may be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Set up OBS using its official streaming guidance. Add the audio source for your cleared playlist and a suitable visual source, such as a static or looping image you are entitled to use. Connect OBS to the YouTube broadcast using the stream key or the connection method offered by YouTube. Use OBS’s official guide for the current interface and encoder settings (OBS Help).
- Choose settings the PC and connection can sustain. Match the output resolution and frame rate to your intended presentation, then choose an encoder and bitrate supported by the available hardware and upload connection. The cited sources do not establish a specific bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or minimum PC specification for this Marathi music use case; do not treat a guessed value as a guaranteed setting.
- Run an unlisted test before launch. YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test. Check that the intended audio and visual sources are present, the stream remains stable, and the broadcast appears as expected to a viewer. Test the recovery steps for a PC restart, internet outage, or power interruption before relying on a continuous run.
- Start the broadcast and monitor YouTube Studio. Watch for stream-health messages and copyright notices, especially during the initial run. If YouTube reports a matched track, remove that content and address the notice; continued third-party content can lead to interruption or termination.
Keep the Windows setup running continuously
A PC-based stream depends on the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection continuing to work. Before going live, disable sleep or hibernation for the streaming session, ensure Windows updates or scheduled restarts will not unexpectedly stop the encoder, and confirm that the PC can stay adequately cooled. These are practical operating checks, not uptime guarantees.
- Use reliable wired networking where practical and test the actual connection under the intended streaming conditions.
- Consider a suitable battery backup for brief power interruptions, while recognizing that it cannot solve a prolonged outage.
- Keep the playlist and OBS scene simple enough to recover after a restart; document how to relaunch the encoder and reconnect to the scheduled broadcast.
- Check YouTube Studio periodically for stream status and copyright alerts. If a stream drops, determine whether the cause is power, Windows, OBS, the network, or a YouTube-side interruption before restarting.

Common problems and what to check
- You cannot start a live broadcast: Check that the channel is verified and live streaming has been enabled; allow the activation window YouTube recommends. Confirm that you are using the intended channel account.
- OBS cannot connect or the broadcast is not receiving video: Check the selected YouTube broadcast, connection details, stream key, and encoder status. If the key may have been exposed, replace it through YouTube’s controls and update OBS.
- The stream stops when you leave the PC: Check Windows sleep and hibernation settings, OBS status, power, cooling, and network continuity. A desktop encoder cannot continue sending a stream if the PC or connection is unavailable.
- YouTube displays a copyright warning or placeholder: Treat it as a rights issue, not merely an encoder problem. Remove the matched content, contact the relevant rights holder, and verify that the channel has any required Content ID allowlisting. Do not resume the track based only on attribution or a general license.
- A completed livestream receives a claim: YouTube says Content ID claims can be made after a live stream ends if it is archived. Recheck that your permission explicitly includes replay or archive use.
