You can run a 24/7 YouTube ambience stream by looping a rights-cleared recording through an encoder, or by using a cloud service that plays uploaded videos. Before going public, verify that your channel can livestream, clear the rights to every sound and visual, and rehearse the whole setup privately. Neither approach guarantees uninterrupted broadcasting; YouTube can interrupt a live stream when it detects third-party content.
What do you need before you go live?
Plan for four things: a YouTube channel with live streaming enabled, a recording and visual you are entitled to use, a way to send the loop to YouTube, and a private rehearsal. A stream running around the clock is still subject to YouTube’s live-stream rules and copyright checks.
Check channel eligibility
YouTube’s live-streaming help page, retrieved October 3, 2026, says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days to enable live streaming. It also states that a person must be at least 16 years old to livestream. Check your channel’s current status and eligibility in YouTube Studio before building the production around it.
The same help page states a limit of up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key. These are platform limits, not a promise of uptime or a recommended way to divide one continuous broadcast.

Choose a loop you can legally use
Use bell and rain recordings you made yourself, or recordings whose permission or licence covers your intended use. Check that it allows a public live broadcast, any saved archive, your intended territories, and monetization if you plan to enable it. A devotional subject, an ambient sound, or a file being available online does not by itself make the recording free to use. Keep the licence, written permission, and any relevant correspondence together.
Decide what the visual will show, too. A still image, designed scene, or video loop must also be yours or cleared for the same uses. Avoid implying that a recording depicts a particular temple, ritual, or place unless you can substantiate that claim.

Can you stream bell and rain audio without a copyright interruption?
No setup can guarantee that. YouTube says it scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the matched material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A licence does not necessarily prevent an automated interruption: depending on the rights arrangement, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist.

YouTube for Artists advises coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music in a live stream. That music-specific advice applies to bell recordings only if the relevant rights-holder or distributor relationship fits your recording. When in doubt, get written confirmation from the actual recording owner about the live use and any allowlisting needed before you start.

- Document who owns each recording and what the permission covers.
- Check separately for the sound recording and any underlying music or performance rights that may apply.
- Ask the rights holder whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting, and allow time for it to be completed.
- Do not assume that changing pitch, layering rain over bells, or using only a short segment removes a rights issue.
How do you build the do-it-yourself encoder stream?
YouTube identifies encoder streaming as a suitable route for productions that use overlays or hardware. It gives the creator control over audio and visuals, but requires a computer and a configured encoder to keep sending the stream. The available guidance does not establish a specific encoder application, operating system, resolution, bitrate, keyframe interval, server arrangement, or backup design for this particular 24/7 use case. Use the current configuration guidance for your chosen encoder and YouTube account rather than copying unverified numbers from a generic tutorial.
- Prepare the media. Make a continuous loop from the cleared bell-and-rain recording and the visual you intend to broadcast. Play it through from beginning to end on the computer that will encode it. Listen for silence, abrupt joins, clipped peaks, or unexpected gaps; correct issues in your source before going live.
- Enable live streaming and open YouTube Studio’s live controls. Select the encoder-based broadcast workflow. Labels and screen layout can change, so follow the current prompts shown for your channel.
- Create or select the broadcast and stream key. Copy the stream details from YouTube into the matching fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, include it in a screen recording, or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel. If you think it has been exposed, replace it in YouTube’s live controls and update the encoder.
- Configure the encoder for the source and connection. Select the intended audio and video inputs, then set the format, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval using the current instructions for the encoder and YouTube. Keep settings within what your connection can sustain. The reviewed platform guidance does not provide tested values for a continuous temple-bells-and-rain stream, so there is no evidence-based universal preset to give here.
- Start the encoder and confirm the signal in YouTube. Check that YouTube receives both picture and audio before you make the broadcast public. Watch and listen for a representative stretch of the loop; a successful connection alone does not confirm that the whole programme is correct.
- Rehearse privately before scheduling public viewing. Google’s live checklist recommends testing the complete setup as a private stream, including the internet connection, and comparing connections. Test the same computer, encoder, media, and network you intend to use. Confirm the stream plays as expected and that the loop transitions correctly.
- Schedule and decide how to handle chat. Set the public schedule only after the rehearsal. Google’s checklist recommends planning for live chat and comments, including moderation or turning them off. Its advice to enable live streaming at least 24 hours ahead is legacy checklist guidance, not a current technical guarantee; verify the channel’s actual activation behavior in Studio.
- Keep oversight in the plan. A 24/7 target does not mean a tested guarantee of continuous operation. Decide who can check the broadcast, respond to YouTube notices, and restart or correct the encoder if the feed stops. Do not advertise uninterrupted operation as assured.
Optional hardware for an encoder workflow
A dedicated computer is one possible way to run an encoder, but no specific model or minimum CPU, GPU, memory, or storage requirement is established for this stream. Choose hardware only after selecting the encoder and its workload; check compatibility, power consumption, storage needs, and network connectivity against your actual setup. A purchase cannot by itself guarantee the stream will stay online.

What should you check before making the stream public?
- Rights: You have permission for the specific bell and rain recordings and visuals, including the live use and any archive or monetization you intend.
- Channel: Verification and live eligibility are in place, and no current restriction blocks the broadcast.
- Signal: YouTube receives the expected picture and sound, and the loop has been checked for abrupt cuts, silence, and other defects.
- Connection: The private rehearsal used the intended network and full setup, not just a short test of the encoder on a different connection.
- Access: The stream key is kept private and only available to people or systems that need it.
- Oversight: You know who will handle a copyright notice, a dropped feed, chat moderation, or an unexpected change in the broadcast.

Can a 24/7 stream earn money?
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible live-stream revenue mechanisms. Their availability depends on channel eligibility and the features enabled for that channel. Ad slots are not guaranteed, and YouTube controls whether ads are served. Check the current monetization and live controls in Studio; continuous broadcasting does not guarantee monetization or any level of earnings.
