A Synology NAS can store and organize your Indian music, but the official Synology documentation cited here does not establish Audio Station as a tool that broadcasts a continuous music program to YouTube. To keep a music stream live, you need a separate encoder or hosted service that can turn your playlist into a YouTube-compatible audiovisual stream. A NAS-based setup also depends on that encoder, your network, and power staying available.
What a Synology NAS can—and cannot—do for this stream
Synology describes Audio Station as a way to organize music, create playlists, and stream music to browsers and supported devices. That makes it useful as a music-library and playback tool, but its DSM 7.4 specifications do not establish an Audio Station-to-YouTube broadcast feature.
Synology documents YouTube Live Broadcast in Surveillance Station for live camera streams, with H.264 support. That is a camera-feed feature, not a music-playlist encoder. The DSM 7.4 Surveillance Station specifications describe the camera use case. An older Surveillance Station 8.2 user guide shows a camera-based broadcast setup; it should not be treated as proof of current music-streaming support.

Plan on three separate jobs: the NAS stores the licensed audio, an encoder creates a continuous audiovisual output, and that encoder sends the output to YouTube. The encoder needs safe access to your media files and a way to publish to YouTube. The official material cited here does not identify a current Synology-compatible playlist encoder or verify how one would recover after a restart or connection loss.

Before you start: clear the music and visual rights
Get permission for the music
YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” You are responsible for the necessary rights and approvals for the stream’s territory. Owning a song file, subscribing to a music service, or having permission to play music privately does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it.
Account for YouTube’s live copyright checks
YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace a stream with a placeholder, warn you, or interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Its copyright guidance for live streams also notes that even licensed content can be interrupted if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm any required allowlisting with the rights holder before relying on a license to keep a 24/7 broadcast uninterrupted.

Clear the visuals too
A music stream needs an audiovisual output, so decide what viewers will see: for example, authorized cover artwork, a visualizer, or other licensed visuals. The music rights do not automatically establish rights to artwork, video, or other imagery. Check that your encoder can combine your chosen visual with the audio continuously.
Build a local NAS-based setup
The steps below describe the system you need to assemble, not a verified Synology product walkthrough. The exact encoder, installation method, media path, and recovery controls depend on your NAS model, DSM release, and the encoder you choose. Confirm those details against the encoder’s own current documentation before installing it. Synology says Container Manager replaced Docker for container management starting with DSM 7.2, but that package terminology does not verify that a particular third-party encoder image is compatible with your NAS.

- Organize your library on the NAS. Store the tracks you have permission to broadcast in a clearly organized folder. Use Audio Station if you want Synology’s supported music-library and playlist functions; treat it as the library/playback layer, not as the YouTube publisher.
- Select an encoder that fits your NAS and workflow. Verify that it supports your specific model and DSM version, can continuously read the NAS media, can pair audio with an authorized visual, and can publish a valid live stream to YouTube. Check how it behaves after an encoder restart, NAS restart, or network interruption. Do not assume an app or container is compatible just because it can be installed or managed on Synology.
- Make the media available to the encoder safely. If the encoder runs on the NAS, confirm its documented access to the music folder. If it runs on another computer, make sure it can reach the NAS reliably without exposing your library or NAS administration interface unnecessarily to the public internet.
- Create the YouTube live stream and provide its ingest details to the encoder. In YouTube’s live-streaming controls, configure the event and use the ingest information provided for that stream. Enter the stream key only in the encoder’s intended credential field. Treat that key like a password: do not put it in a public playlist, screenshot, or shared configuration. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- Run a supervised test before leaving it unattended. Check that the stream reaches YouTube, the audio is audible and continuous, the visual is correct, and the encoder keeps reading the playlist as tracks change. Test the recovery behavior by restarting the encoder and, if practical, simulating a brief network interruption. Check how YouTube handles any intended live archive rather than assuming the stream will be saved in the way you want.
- Prepare the supporting infrastructure. For a local broadcast, the NAS, encoder host if separate, router, and internet connection all need to remain available. Consider what happens during a power outage or ISP interruption, and how you will notice and respond if the stream stops. A stream that works during a short test is not, by itself, evidence of 24/7 recovery.
Choose local encoding or a hosted stream
A local encoder can keep your media and processing on equipment you manage, but it leaves compatibility, continuous power and connectivity, and recovery behavior in your hands. A hosted service shifts the continuous streaming job to a cloud service, but you should check that it supports your intended YouTube workflow, media, billing period, and recovery needs before relying on it. The official Synology documentation cited above does not establish a turnkey NAS-side 24/7 music broadcast, so verify any local encoder separately.
