You can publish Hindi music to YouTube with Restreamer by configuring an audio source, adding a YouTube Publication Service with your stream key, and monitoring the complete path. But a 24/7 stream is an operating goal, not an uptime guarantee: clear the music rights first, plan for interruptions, and do not rely on YouTube to archive a broadcast that runs longer than 12 hours.

Before you start: clear the music rights

Use music your channel owns or is authorized to stream in the relevant territories, including any rights needed for an archive or replay. A track being available on a music service—or permission from just one participant—does not by itself establish that you have all the necessary rights.

YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. The terms also refer to territorial regulatory and licensing obligations. The sources do not determine whether a particular license covers a specific Hindi catalogue, territory, live broadcast, or archive; confirm those terms with the rights holder.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the operator; continued content can lead to temporary interruption or termination. If you have licensed the material, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube notes that a stream can still be interrupted if this has not been done, and archived broadcasts may receive Content ID claims after the stream ends. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its livestream terms.

What you need for the Restreamer-to-YouTube workflow

  • A YouTube channel eligible to live stream. YouTube says it must be verified and have had no live-stream restrictions during the previous 90 days. Check current eligibility in YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
  • A Hindi music audio source you are authorized to broadcast, plus an audio path configured in Restreamer.
  • A YouTube encoder stream and its stream key. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to send video to your channel.
  • A Restreamer installation or service, a reliable source/host/network path, and an operator plan for monitoring and recovery.
  • Local recording and storage if you need a dependable copy of the broadcast or its archive.

The official Restreamer materials describe self-installation on a server, installation on a current Raspberry Pi, and a ready-to-go datarhei Service. They do not establish a specific board, server configuration, or workload capacity that will encode this stream continuously. Choose and test hardware for your actual source and encoding workload rather than assuming a model-specific 24/7 capability. See the Restreamer overview.

Set up YouTube as the destination

  1. Enable live streaming and verify eligibility. Confirm the channel meets YouTube’s verification and restriction requirements before configuring Restreamer.
  2. Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Open the current live-stream setup in Studio and create or select an encoder stream. Copy its stream key securely. YouTube’s interface labels can change, so use the current Studio flow rather than relying on an old menu path.
  3. Check Live Control Room. A saved stream key does not prove that YouTube is receiving a usable feed. Use the Live Control Room preview and status to verify reception before announcing or relying on the stream.

YouTube advises setting up ahead of time, previewing before starting, checking that the event is accessible, and monitoring audio and video quality. Its encoder tips cover these checks.

Configure the Hindi music source and audio in Restreamer

  1. Open the Restreamer setup wizard. Select the source you will use. The wizard supports network sources and Restreamer’s internal RTMP server; an external encoder such as OBS or Wowza can provide a source to that server.
  2. Configure the audio path. Choose the appropriate source or audio input in the wizard and verify that it is active. Restreamer’s quick-start documentation lists AAC and MP3 as supported audio formats and notes that services including YouTube require an active audio channel. See the Restreamer quick start and setup wizard guide.
  3. Set stream metadata and review the license field. Use concise, accurate metadata for the configured stream. A license setting or metadata entry in Restreamer describes the stream; it does not grant rights to third-party music.
  4. Test playback at the source. Confirm the intended audio reaches Restreamer before publishing. During the YouTube preview, listen for clean, continuous audio rather than relying only on a connection indicator.

Add the YouTube Publication Service and go live

  1. In Restreamer, add a Publication Service for YouTube.
  2. Enter the valid YouTube streaming ID/key in the destination settings and save the service. Restreamer’s publication manual explains how to connect an external streaming service with a streaming key; the YouTube guide documents the YouTube publication workflow.
  3. Start the publication and check the YouTube Live Control Room preview for incoming video and audio. Restreamer’s quick guide says the active connection’s bitrate is displayed in its main window; that reading indicates connection activity, not by itself that playback is correct or stable.
  4. Once the preview is healthy, make the stream public or otherwise set the audience access you intend, then verify the resulting watch page from a viewer’s perspective.

Restreamer documents HLS from the channel, RTMP from its internal RTMP server, and SRT from that server as publication input options. Its documented default RTMP and RTMPS listening ports are 1935 and 1936. These are relevant to incoming-source network design; they are not substitutes for the destination settings and stream key shown in YouTube’s setup. Avoid exposing administration or player ports unless your setup requires them. If you use Restreamer’s own web player for public access, its quick-start instructions discuss port forwarding; that is separate from publishing to YouTube.

Operate the stream as a service, not just a running process

A process that starts successfully does not prove uninterrupted 24/7 delivery. Test the entire chain with an unlisted or otherwise appropriate test stream before launch. Check playback on the YouTube watch page and a mobile device, then establish a routine for detecting and recovering from source, host, or network failure.

CanaKit Raspberry Pi 5 Essentials Starter Kit (4GB RAM)
  • CanaKit Raspberry Pi 5 Essentials Starter Kit
  • Check the YouTube preview and viewer-facing playback for accessibility and correct audio.
  • Monitor both the source and the Restreamer-to-YouTube publication; a healthy source does not guarantee a healthy destination connection.
  • If recording locally, verify that the archive file is actually growing and that storage remains available.
  • Use secure credentials, including a unique Restreamer password, as its quick-start material advises.
  • Plan who will respond if the host, network, audio source, or YouTube connection fails. The reviewed documentation does not promise unattended uptime or automatic recovery for this self-hosted workflow.

YouTube’s encoder tips recommend previewing, confirming accessibility, checking local archive growth, and monitoring audio/video quality. The exact bitrate, resolution, and hardware requirements for your particular source and installation are not established by the documented workflow; validate settings against your encoder, connection, and YouTube’s current guidance instead of treating an untested value as universal.

Choose a stream length with YouTube archives in mind

A single all-day broadcast may not produce a complete YouTube archive. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable for very long streams, including those longer than 12 hours. See YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance.

If replays or clips matter, record locally, monitor that the file is growing, and keep enough storage for the recording you intend to retain. Consider ending and restarting on a schedule that suits your archive and DVR needs, while accounting for the operational interruption involved. Restreamer’s YouTube guide also advises ending the stream on YouTube first after an event if you want the live stream saved in YouTube’s DVR archive. No session length guarantees a complete archive beyond the platform guidance.

Troubleshoot common failures

Symptom Likely check What to do
YouTube does not show an incoming feed Destination selection, copied stream key, publication state, and the source-to-Restreamer connection Confirm the YouTube key belongs to the intended encoder stream, check that the Publication Service is started, and inspect Restreamer’s active connection status. Recheck the Live Control Room preview.
Video arrives but there is no sound Audio source selection, active audio channel, and input format Verify the audio source in the Restreamer wizard and confirm it is producing sound. Restreamer’s quick start lists AAC and MP3 support and notes YouTube requires an active audio channel.
The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder Content ID matches and music permissions Review YouTube’s copyright notice and contact the rights holder. If the music is licensed, request that the channel be added to the owner’s Content ID allowlist; confirm the permission covers the live use and relevant territories.
Playback works, but the broadcast is missing or incomplete in the archive Session duration and local recording For streams over 12 hours, YouTube warns that capture may not occur at all. Use a local recording and consider shorter sessions if platform replay matters.
The connection appears active but viewers report poor or inaccessible playback Actual watch-page playback, audio/video quality, and stream accessibility Check the Live Control Room preview and public watch page from another device or network; monitor audio and video rather than relying only on a bitrate or connection indicator.
