To rotate a recorded Roblox video in a YouTube livestream, add it to an OBS scene as a Media Source, select the source, and use OBS’s transform controls to turn and frame it. OBS changes how the clip appears in the live composition; it does not permanently rotate the original file. If by “rotate” you mean switching among clips, use a playlist-capable source instead.

Rotate and frame a recorded Roblox clip in OBS

  1. Create or select a scene. In OBS, use the Scenes panel to choose a scene for the stream, or add a new one.
  2. Add the video file. In the Sources panel, select +, choose Media Source, and select the recorded clip. OBS’s guide covers media sources and source controls: OBS Media Sources.
  3. Select the source and open its transform controls. Select the clip in the Sources list or preview, then use the source’s Transform or Edit Transform controls to rotate it and adjust its position and size. OBS documents these controls in its Sources Guide. The exact interface can vary by OBS version and operating system.
  4. Check the scene before going live. Inspect the preview after rotating: make sure the gameplay is upright, important action is visible, and the clip is not unintentionally cropped. Choose canvas and output framing that suits your intended landscape or portrait presentation; rotating a source can leave unused space or push part of the image beyond the canvas.
  5. Send the composed scene to YouTube. Configure OBS to stream to your YouTube Live event using YouTube’s encoder workflow. YouTube describes encoders as an option for broadcasting gameplay and overlays: YouTube: Go live with an encoder.

This changes the clip’s presentation inside OBS’s streaming composition. It does not save a rotated copy of the source video for use elsewhere.

Replay one clip or rotate among multiple clips?

Repeat a single clip

For a clip that should replay, open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. OBS lists looping among its media-source options in the Media Sources guide.

Play a playlist

For a sequence of files, OBS documents VLC Video as a playlist-capable source, with a Loop Playlist option. VLC must be installed for this source. See the OBS Media Sources guide for the supported options.

If the clip came from Roblox’s capture feature

Roblox Support says its in-experience capture feature records clips up to 30 seconds and is available on desktop and mobile. Clips are held in Roblox app storage; use the save control to move one to the device camera roll or, on desktop, the Videos folder. Roblox warns that deleting the app before saving a clip elsewhere also deletes gallery clips. Its capture feature removes in-experience UI and does not record voice chat or other in-experience sounds. These details apply to Roblox’s built-in capture, not necessarily to recordings made with other tools. See Roblox Support’s video capture help.

When to rotate in OBS and when to change the file

  • Use OBS transforms when the correction is only needed in the livestream. It is the direct route for a local clip and avoids changing the saved asset.
  • Use a video editor if you need a permanently rotated file for later uploads or other uses. The OBS transform affects the live composition rather than the original clip.
  • Choose framing for the destination before streaming. A corrected portrait clip placed in a landscape canvas, or the reverse, may need resizing and positioning to avoid cropping or empty space.

Copyright and YouTube monetization

Rotating a Roblox recording does not grant rights to the game footage or make a stream eligible for monetization. YouTube’s guidance says monetization of game content may depend on commercial-use rights from the publisher. It also says gameplay without appropriate rights must be minimal and discusses instructional or educational value in commentary tied to the action; extended gameplay alone may not be accepted. Check the applicable permissions and YouTube’s game and software content monetization guidance before relying on a stream for revenue. Commentary or livestreaming by itself is not a guarantee of eligibility.

Common problems and fixes

  • The video is still sideways or upside down: Select the Media Source itself and adjust its transform; changing the scene or canvas alone does not rotate that source.
  • Part of the gameplay disappears after rotation: Recheck the preview and reposition or resize the source so the important area fits within the canvas.
  • The clip stops instead of replaying: Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop.
  • The playlist source is unavailable: OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed. The OBS guide describes this requirement and the playlist controls.
  • The saved clip is missing after removing Roblox: Roblox says unsaved gallery captures are deleted if the app is deleted. Save the clip to the device’s camera roll or desktop Videos folder first.
