To rotate prerecorded hotel room tours on YouTube Live, play the recordings in OBS Studio and send OBS’s output to YouTube using an encoder stream URL and stream key. Use an OBS Media Source with Loop for one tour, or a VLC Video Source playlist to rotate several tours in order or shuffle them. Before broadcasting from India, check your channel’s live access, confirm you have rights to every video and audio track, and test the stream preview.
Before you set up the stream
- Confirm live access. YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days. This is the encoder workflow; mobile live-streaming requirements differ. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Prepare authorized recordings. Keep the tour files available on the computer running OBS, and confirm you have permission to publish the video and every included audio element.
- Review the footage. Hotel rooms may show guests, personal belongings, access credentials, or other sensitive details. Use footage you are authorized to publish and remove or obscure sensitive information where appropriate. This is a production check, not legal advice; the available guidance does not establish India-specific privacy rules for hotel-tour streams.
- Check your installed software. The OBS source options below depend on your installed version, and the VLC Video Source requires VLC to be installed. Confirm that your recording formats work in your setup.
Choose how the tours should rotate
Repeat one tour
Add the recording as an OBS Media Source and enable its Loop option. OBS restarts that file after it finishes, so the same tour repeats.
Rotate several tours
Add a VLC Video Source in OBS and populate its playlist with the tour files. Enable Loop Playlist to repeat the list after its files finish. Enable Shuffle Playlist if you want the order randomized; leave it off for the listed sequence. OBS documents these controls in its Media Sources guide.

Set up OBS and connect it to YouTube
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create > Go Live, then create or schedule an encoder stream. Follow the on-screen flow to reach the stream settings in Live Control Room.
- Copy the encoder details. Copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key shown for that stream. Treat the key as secret: it is the encoder credential YouTube uses to accept the feed. Do not share it or show it on screen.
- Add your recording in OBS. In the scene you intend to broadcast, add either a Media Source for one file and enable Loop, or a VLC Video Source and add the tour files to its playlist. Set playlist looping or shuffle according to the rotation you want. Check that the source fits the scene and that its audio is appropriate.
- Enter YouTube’s stream details in OBS. Open OBS stream settings and enter the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Use the values for the stream you created or scheduled, rather than reusing a key you cannot verify.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Start streaming in OBS, then wait for YouTube’s preview. Check that the picture is visible, audio is present at a suitable level, and the tour is framed as intended. For a scheduled stream, click Go live in Live Control Room when the preview is ready.
- Test and monitor. YouTube recommends testing the setup, checking the preview, and monitoring audio and video quality. Verify that the source advances or loops as expected before relying on the rotation.

Protect the channel’s rights and monetization eligibility
Copyright permission is separate from reused-content review
YouTube’s live-stream terms require you to have the rights needed to use the live content on Google services, including music rights. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning, interruption, or termination if the content remains; even licensed content may require the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Repeated prerecorded tours can affect monetization review
Having permission to show a tour does not itself establish that the channel meets YouTube’s monetization policies. YouTube’s reused-content policy concerns republishing material without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value, and the review applies to the channel as a whole. A repeated feed of prerecorded tours may therefore raise a separate monetization concern; the outcome depends on the channel and presentation, and cannot be predicted for an individual channel. YouTube clarified its inauthentic-content policy on July 15, 2025; check the current YouTube channel monetization policies.

Plan the broadcast length and archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a broadcast longer than that will reliably produce a complete archive. If a dependable archive matters, consider ending and restarting on a planned schedule, and verify YouTube’s current archive behavior before relying on it.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: check that OBS has the stream URL and key for the correct encoder stream, and confirm the key was copied accurately. Keep it private.
- The preview is blank or the tour does not play: check that the file is available to the computer, the source points to the intended recording, and the format works in your installed OBS setup. For a VLC Video Source, confirm VLC is installed.
- The tour stops instead of repeating: for a single file, enable Loop on the Media Source. For several files, enable Loop Playlist on the VLC Video Source.
- The tours play in an unexpected order: review the playlist contents and whether Shuffle Playlist is enabled. Turn shuffle off for the listed order.
- YouTube warns about third-party content: check the matched audio or video and your actual rights to use it. A license may not be enough to prevent an interruption unless the rights owner has added the channel to its Content ID allowlist.
- The stream is interrupted: inspect Live Control Room for YouTube’s warning and address the identified issue before restarting. Test and monitor the feed rather than assuming a loop will run unattended indefinitely.
