If an iPhone app icon has disappeared, first swipe down from the middle of the Home Screen and search for the app by name. If it appears, tap it to open; then check App Library and your Home Screen pages to put the icon back where you want it. A missing icon does not necessarily mean the app was deleted: Apple says it may be in App Library, on a hidden page, or—on iOS 18—in the Hidden folder. Apple Support
Find the app with iPhone Search
- Swipe down from the middle of the Home Screen to open Search.
- Enter the app’s name. If it appears in the results, tap it to launch it.
If Search does not find it, continue with App Library and hidden pages. On iOS 18, also check the authenticated Hidden folder: hidden apps do not appear in ordinary Search. Apple Support
Move the app from App Library to the Home Screen
Swipe left past your Home Screen pages to open App Library. You can browse its categories, use its search field, or browse the alphabetical app list. When you find the app, touch and hold its icon, then move or drag it onto the Home Screen page you want. Finish editing if prompted. Apple’s App Library guide
Show a hidden Home Screen page
A hidden page’s apps remain available in App Library, but the page and its icons are out of sight.

- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen until the icons begin to jiggle.
- Open page editing by tapping Edit Pages or the page dots, depending on the iOS interface.
- Tap the unchecked circle beneath the page you want to show, then finish editing.

Unhide an app in iOS 18
In iOS 18, an app hidden with the system’s app-hiding feature is placed in App Library’s Hidden folder. It will not appear on the Home Screen, in App Library’s regular listings, or in Search. Apple Support

- Swipe left to App Library and open the Hidden folder.
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.
- Touch and hold the app and choose “Don’t Require Face ID.”
- Find the app in App Library and move it to the Home Screen using the steps above.

Check whether it was deleted rather than merely removed from the Home Screen. “Remove from Home Screen” leaves the app in App Library; “Delete App” removes it from the iPhone. If it was deleted, search for it in the App Store and download it again if it is still available. Reinstallation is not guaranteed if the app is no longer offered. Apple Support
