“Hard reset” can mean either restarting a Shark robot vacuum or restoring its factory settings. Those are different actions, and the button combination documented for one model may not work on another. For a reboot, Shark’s UK instructions for the RV2620WAUK say to remove the robot from its base, hold DOCK for 5–7 seconds to turn it off, then return it to the base. For a factory reset, Shark Customer Service Italy documents holding CLEAN and DOCK for 30 seconds—but that instruction is not established as universal. Check the guide for your exact model before using either procedure.
First, decide which reset you need
If the robot is unresponsive and you want to power it off and back on, you likely mean a reboot. A factory reset restores factory settings and is a different procedure. Do not assume that a reboot clears saved settings, or that a Wi-Fi reconnection procedure is a factory reset.
The available Shark instructions cover different models and regions. Use the procedure only when it matches your robot’s model and its applicable guide.

Find your Shark robot’s model number
Check the label on the robot or its documentation, then use that model number to locate the matching instructions. Shark’s US manuals index lists guides by product series, including an RV2600WA Series Robot Self-Empty XL Owner’s Guide. A guide for a related series is not necessarily the right guide for your robot.

Restart the RV2620WAUK
For the RV2620WAUK, Shark’s UK guide gives this reboot procedure:
- Take the robot off its base.
- Hold the DOCK button for 5–7 seconds to turn the robot off.
- Place the robot back on its base to turn it on.
This is the documented reboot procedure for the named UK model; it should not be treated as a universal reset for all Shark robots.

Factory-reset only with instructions for your exact model
Shark Customer Service Italy documents a factory reset by holding CLEAN and DOCK together for 30 seconds. The available instruction does not establish that this combination works across all Shark models or regions. Before trying it, confirm that your model’s guide or Shark support gives the same steps.

If the problem is Wi-Fi or app connectivity
Check the network before factory-resetting. Shark’s RV2620WAUK guide and US 2400WD Series Owner’s Guide specify 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for app use. Confirm the requirement in your own model’s guide; do not assume it applies to every Shark robot.
- For the RV2620WAUK, Shark’s UK guide recommends avoiding VPNs or proxies and checking that Wi-Fi isolation is off.
- If connection problems remain after following the 2400WD Series manual’s Wi-Fi troubleshooting, that manual directs users to Shark customer service.
Shark’s UK article for the RV2900XEUK Series, dated 31 March 2026, also addresses staying connected and resolving Wi-Fi issues. Its advice is for that named series, so consult the article or guide that matches your model rather than transferring a procedure from another robot.

When to contact Shark support
If your matching guide does not provide a reset procedure, or its steps do not resolve the problem, contact Shark support for your region with the robot’s model number. This is safer than trying a button combination documented for a different model or country.
