It depends on what you mean by “restart.” If the gaming broadcast is still live, use YouTube’s seek controls to rewind within the available DVR window; you cannot go back to before the broadcast began. If you mean a playlist of completed VODs, open its first video and move that video’s playhead to the start. YouTube’s documented playlist controls do not provide a universal button to restart an entire playlist on every device.

First, identify what you are watching

A live broadcast, a completed VOD in a playlist, and a temporary queue use different controls. Decide which one applies before trying to restart playback.

  • Still live: rewind within the live stream’s available DVR window.
  • Completed VOD in a playlist: choose the first playlist item, then reset that video’s timestamp if needed.
  • Queue: this is a temporary watch-next arrangement, not a saved playlist.

Rewind a gaming stream that is still live

  1. Open the live stream in YouTube.
  2. Use the player’s seek bar or rewind control to move back within the available DVR window.
  3. If you cannot rewind far enough, DVR may be unavailable, its rewind window may be limited, or the stream may not have been live for that long. Viewers cannot seek to a point before the broadcast started.

YouTube says DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and continue during a live stream when the feature is available. It also warns that DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Apple TV, Apple AirPlay, and older app versions have lower limits. See YouTube’s DVR guidance for the conditions and current details.

Start a completed VOD playlist at its first video

  1. Open the playlist containing the gaming VODs.
  2. Select the first video in the playlist.
  3. If that VOD resumes partway through, use its seek bar to move the playhead to the beginning.
  4. If the VOD you want to start with is not first, change the playlist order. YouTube documents reordering from the playlist panel on a watch page as well as playlist management controls.

Reordering changes which item comes first; it does not rewind the video currently playing. YouTube’s playlist help explains playlist selection and management, but does not document one reset command that works across all devices. The exact controls can vary by device.

If the broadcast has ended but its replay is missing, availability can depend on recording settings and processing. YouTube’s live-stream API documents the recordFromStart and enableDvr settings and their relationship to post-broadcast playback: LiveBroadcasts resource documentation.

If you meant a queue, not a playlist

A queue is a temporary list of videos to watch next. YouTube says a queue on a computer does not remain after you close the browser; to keep videos for later, save them to a playlist. See YouTube’s queue guidance.
