Use WoW’s in-game player-reporting tool to report suspected gold selling, cheating, or prohibited advertising. Choose the closest category available in your client and describe what you observed—such as the character names, realm, approximate time, solicitation, or an unusual gold-delivery arrangement. Those details help Blizzard assess a report; they do not prove a player broke the rules.
Report suspected gold selling through the in-game tool
For a suspected gold seller, a gold-selling advertisement, or related cheating, submit a player report from inside WoW. Blizzard Support lists dedicated guidance for reporting cheating and inappropriate in-game advertising, but the complete current click-by-click sequence is not available in that guidance. Menu wording can vary by client version, so use the report option presented in your game and select the closest applicable category rather than relying on a particular right-click path.
- Open WoW’s in-game player-reporting tool for the character or conduct you want to report.
- Choose the closest available category, such as cheating or inappropriate advertising.
- Describe the conduct you directly observed. Include character names, realm, approximate time, and relevant message or offer details.
- Submit the report through the client.
What to include in a report
Keep the report factual and specific. Blizzard identifies unsolicited gold and a delivery arranged through a different character from the one that negotiated the transaction as warning signs associated with deceptive gold-selling tactics. Record these as observations if they apply; neither is proof on its own.

- The approximate date and time, including your time zone if useful.
- The wording or context of any chat solicitation or advertisement.
- Whether gold arrived unexpectedly, or a different character delivered it than the one that arranged the offer.
Do not accuse someone solely because of a hunch or an unexplained event. Avoid confronting or threatening the suspected seller, clicking external sales links, or accepting unexplained gold while trying to investigate. Blizzard’s account guidance warns against third-party gold services and malicious links.

Use the support-ticket route for ongoing harassment
Blizzard documents a separate support-ticket workflow for continuing harassment. It is intended for ongoing harassment, not as a replacement for the in-game report of an ordinary suspected gold seller.
- Open Support.
- Select Contact Support > In-Game Issues > Report a Player > Ongoing Harassment.
- Provide the character names, realm, approximate time frame, and relevant details.
Blizzard says it may notify a reported player that they were reported, but it does not disclose the reporter’s identity. It also does not share investigation findings with other players.

What Blizzard’s rules and enforcement statements mean
In a July 30, 2025 post, Blizzard said buying third-party gold is risky and harmful, supports malicious activity, and violates its End User License Agreement. It warned that transactions supporting gold sellers can result in gold removal and permanent account suspension. The post describes unsolicited gold and a handoff by a different character than the one that arranged the deal as warning signs, not as conclusive evidence.

Blizzard said it had acted against botting accounts and accounts found to have purchased or knowingly received illicit gold in the beta, and would continue enforcement after launch. It said accounts involved in generating, selling, buying, or receiving illicit gold may have gold removed, be suspended, or be permanently closed. The announcement also said a warning shown when trading with strangers would be added soon; it does not establish that the warning is already live across all WoW versions.

If you received suspicious gold or suspect your account was compromised
If gold arrives unexpectedly, do not treat the delivery as proof that your account or another player is guilty. Record what happened and report the observable details in-game. If you suspect someone accessed your own account, take the separate account-security route: Blizzard directs players to secure their computer and submit an account-recovery ticket, and recommends adding an authenticator.
Do not buy gold from non-Blizzard sources. Blizzard’s WoW Token is a sanctioned gold-and-game-time exchange mechanism where available; it is distinct from third-party gold sales. Its availability and terms can depend on the version and region.
