You can also submit an issue through Opera’s bug report wizard. Describe what happened, how severe it is, and the steps or circumstances that led to it.
Report a bug from Opera Developer
- Open the reporting command. On Mac, select Help > Report an Issue. On Windows or Linux, select O Menu > Help > Report an issue. Opera’s current Help instructions list these paths for desktop Opera: Crashes and issues.
- Describe the problem. Explain what you were doing, what happened, and how severe the problem seems. If the issue involves a website, identify the site and explain what you expected to see or do compared with what actually happened.
- Submit the report. Follow the prompts in Opera’s reporting flow. Opera’s Help also provides a bug report wizard if you need another official route.
Opera’s desktop Help guidance is not specific to Developer builds, so menu wording can vary by version. If you do not see the listed command, use the official wizard or check Opera Help for your installed build.
What to include in a useful report
- Steps to reproduce: List the actions that led to the problem, in order, and note whether it happens consistently.
- Expected and actual behavior: For a site issue, name the website or service, say what you expected, and describe what appeared instead.
- Severity and impact: State whether the problem is a minor inconvenience, blocks a task, or makes the browser unstable.
- Crash context: If Opera froze or crashed, explain what you were doing immediately beforehand. Opera’s crash dialog can accept comments and includes technical crash details.
If Opera keeps crashing
For a persistent crash, Opera Help suggests that you may submit a compressed copy of the profile folder to help the team reproduce the problem. If you have identified a particular file that seems to cause the crash, identify it in your report. Profile files can contain sensitive information, so review the archive and remove anything you do not want to share. Removing a file needed to reproduce the crash, however, may make the problem harder to investigate. Treat a profile archive as optional diagnostic material for a continuing crash, not as a routine attachment.
Extension problems and community questions
Problems with an extension
For an issue with an Opera add-on, Opera’s FAQ says you can send feedback to the extension’s author through the Opera add-ons store or report it through the bug report wizard. Give a precise description and include a link to the extension so the issue can be identified.

Questions and discussion
Use the Opera Community forums to ask questions or share tips. A pinned forum moderator post dated August 13, 2025 recommends using the in-browser Help report for bugs, noting that reports sent that way are tracked together by Opera’s team. The forum is useful for community discussion; use the browser report route for a bug submission.
Is the address-bar Feedback icon still available?
Opera’s Desktop Blog documented a Feedback icon in Opera 48 Developer on July 31, 2017. It appeared on the right side of the combined search and address bar, opened common issue types with an optional comment, and could be hidden in settings. The post said that feature sent the domain and selected problem types, but not the exact page address. That description applies to the 2017 Opera 48 Developer feature; current Opera Help does not confirm that the icon or those data fields remain in today’s Developer builds.
