Check the device name carefully before confirming so you do not remove the entry you still use.
Remove an unwanted Bluetooth entry
- Open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices.
- Find the Bluetooth entry you want to remove.
- Select its More options (…) menu.
- Choose Remove device. Confirm the action if Windows asks.
This removes the selected listing through Windows Settings. Microsoft documents the same action as part of its Bluetooth troubleshooting guidance: Fix Bluetooth problems in Windows.
Should you remove one entry or remove and re-pair the device?
Choose based on whether you want to keep using the device:
| Your situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| You recognize an unwanted listing and do not need it | Use Remove device to clear that entry. |
| You still want to use the device, but it will not connect | Remove its entry, put the device into pairing mode, then add it again in Windows. |
Microsoft includes removing and adding a device again among its Bluetooth troubleshooting steps. Its instructions for pairing are in Pair a Bluetooth device in Windows.

Pair the device again if you still need it
- Turn on the Bluetooth device and make it discoverable or put it in pairing mode. The button sequence or other steps vary by device; follow its manual or the manufacturer’s instructions.
- On your PC, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices and use Windows’ Bluetooth controls to add the device.
- Follow the on-screen pairing prompts. After pairing, Windows can connect to the device when Bluetooth is on and both devices are in range.
If the Bluetooth problem continues
Make sure the peripheral is powered on, charged or has fresh batteries, and within range. If it still will not connect, Microsoft recommends starting the automated Bluetooth troubleshooter in the Get Help app. See Microsoft’s Windows Bluetooth troubleshooting steps.
If the unwanted entry returns or Windows will not remove it, use Get Help or contact Microsoft or your PC/device manufacturer’s support. The cited Microsoft guidance does not establish one universal cause for duplicate-looking entries, so a repeated listing alone is not enough to identify a specific driver, update, or pairing fault.

If the device is missing rather than duplicated
To change which types of Bluetooth devices Windows displays, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices, then inspect Device settings > Bluetooth devices discovery. Microsoft describes Default as displaying common Bluetooth devices and Advanced as displaying all types. This controls discovery visibility; it does not delete a listed device.
