To use an exam voucher or registration code, choose the exam through its official sponsor registration page, proceed to checkout, and enter the code in the voucher or promotional-code field before completing payment. In the documented Pearson VUE flow, the field appears on the payment screen. Exact steps and code rules vary by exam program, so check the voucher’s terms before booking.
How to use an exam registration code
- Start at the exam sponsor’s official page. Select the exam’s registration or scheduling link. Use the route for the exam named on your code rather than beginning at a generic voucher page. Microsoft, for example, directs candidates from Microsoft Learn to Pearson VUE for scheduling: Microsoft exam registration instructions.
- Sign in to the required account. Create or sign in to the profile required by the sponsor. In Microsoft’s documented flow, candidates use their Microsoft Learn profile before continuing to Pearson VUE.
- Select the exact exam and appointment options. Confirm the exam and any scheduling choices, then continue to the cart or checkout.
- Enter the code during payment. In the documented Microsoft/Pearson VUE checkout, choose “Add Voucher or Promo Code,” enter the code as supplied, and apply it. Pearson VUE’s candidate FAQ says, “On the payment screen, you will see the option to enter your code.” Other providers may use a different label or sequence.
- Check the order before submitting it. Make sure the code was accepted and the displayed total reflects the expected discount or coverage. Complete the registration only after reviewing the order details and appointment.
For telephone scheduling, Pearson VUE’s general guidance is to tell the agent that you will use a voucher. Confirm the phone procedure with the exam program, since policies and booking routes differ. See Pearson VUE’s candidate FAQ.
Check the voucher’s terms before booking
A code may be limited to a particular exam, certification program, country or region, or booking period. Its terms may also specify whether it covers the full fee or only provides a discount, and whether retake or promotional conditions apply. Verify these details against the voucher and sponsor instructions rather than assuming every code works for every exam.
For example, the Salesforce voucher store’s terms say its vouchers may be program- or exam-specific, must be used before expiration, and cannot be applied retroactively to an exam already registered for or taken. If the code is rejected or missing from checkout
- Re-enter it carefully, preserving the characters and format shown in the original message or voucher.
- Check that the code applies to the selected exam and program, and that its country or region and expiration conditions match your booking.
- Confirm that you followed the exam sponsor’s official registration route. Some codes are specific to a program or provider.
- If it still fails, contact the sponsor or exam delivery provider through its official support channel before completing payment. Do not assume an omitted or rejected code can be applied to an existing registration afterward; that depends on the program’s terms.
Why the exact exam program matters
Microsoft’s instructions provide a concrete Microsoft Learn-to-Pearson VUE example, while Pearson VUE supports many separate exam programs with their own voucher policies. The “Add Voucher or Promo Code” label and checkout sequence are therefore useful examples, not a universal registration manual. Follow the official instructions for the exam named on your code.
