To register for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, find your local event on the official event site, open its page, and select Register. You can sign up as an individual or start a team; choosing Start a team makes a new participant the team captain. Event-day details such as the start time, route, parking, and accessibility arrangements are set locally, so confirm them on your chosen walk’s page.
How to find and register for a local walk
- Find an event. Go to the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s event site and choose “Find a Walk near you.” The Association describes the annual event as taking place in more than 600 communities nationwide; that is the organization’s description, not an independently verified count.
- Open your local event page. Review its information, then select Register and follow the registration prompts. Local event pages are the place to confirm event-specific details.
- Choose how to participate. Register as an individual if you plan to take part on your own, or choose Start a team if you want to invite others. According to the Association’s registration guidance, a new participant who starts a team automatically becomes its captain.
If you have participated before
Log in to your account during registration. The Association says returning participants can start a new team or restart the team they had the previous year.
How to recruit teammates and personalize your fundraising page
Invite people to join
Ask friends, family, coworkers, and others to join your team. The Association’s Participant Center offers recruiting materials, including videos, tips, and printable items. Its guidance also recommends asking people one-on-one.

Make your fundraising page personal
In the Participant Center, add a photo and write a short explanation of why you are walking. A personal reason gives visitors context for your fundraising requests. The Association’s ALZ Fundraising app can also update your page, notify you about donations, help you send fundraising requests by text, and share your story on social media.

Make a self-donation if you choose
A personal donation is optional. The Association says you can make one during registration or later through the Participant Center or the app dashboard.

- Blue: Someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
- Purple: Someone who has lost a person to the disease.
- Yellow: Someone currently supporting or caring for a person living with it.
- Orange: Someone supporting the cause and the Association’s vision.
Incentives can be tied to a particular place and date. For example, an Association page described a South Carolina flower-pin challenge in 2025; that dated promotion does not establish a current or nationwide benefit. Check your local event page before counting on a pin or other incentive.

- Parking, public transit, or other arrival information.
- Any rules about items you may bring.
- Weather plans and whether or how the event could be canceled.
Association volunteer guidance mentions event-day registration and check-in as volunteer duties, but it does not define the participant procedure for each walk. Follow the instructions for your specific event.
Pack for a walk
Comfortable walking shoes are a sensible optional preparation item. The official materials reviewed do not specify footwear requirements, so use your judgment and check the local event’s guidance for any other recommendations.
