If your Samsung phone asks for the Google account previously used on it after a reset, use that account or recover it through Google. If you still cannot verify ownership, contact an authorized Samsung service center with proof of purchase. There is no supported shortcut that bypasses this protection.
Why Google verification appears after a reset
Samsung’s Factory Reset Protection (FRP), also called Google Device Protection in Samsung’s US support material, is designed to help protect a phone from unauthorized use after a reset. The setup screen may therefore ask for a Google account that was previously added to the device. A reset through the recovery menu can trigger this check; resetting again does not recover the account or remove the requirement. Samsung Australia describes FRP as protection if a device is lost or stolen.
Work through the legitimate recovery options

Try the Google account previously used on the phone
Enter the account that was on the device before it was reset. If you have more than one Google account, check which one lists the Galaxy device. Samsung notes that some devices may also offer a previously configured screen-lock PIN, password, or other screen-lock method; availability depends on the device and Android version, so use it only if setup presents the option. Recover a forgotten account name or password with Google
If you cannot remember the email address, password, or cannot receive a verification code, use Google’s account recovery process. Follow its prompts and provide the requested information as accurately as possible. Google says it does not work with services that claim to provide account or password support; do not pay such a service or share your password or verification codes with it.

Try another 2-Step Verification method
If you know the password but cannot complete the usual second step, Google may let you verify with another phone where you are signed in, another registered phone number, a saved backup code, a hardware security key, or a passkey on another device. The available choices depend on what you set up for that account. If none works, return to Google’s 2-Step Verification troubleshooting guidance and use account recovery. For a work or school account, contact its administrator if needed.

Ask Samsung about authorized service
If you cannot complete verification after trying account recovery, contact an authorized Samsung service center. Samsung’s support guidance directs owners who cannot verify to service; Samsung UK advises bringing proof of purchase. Contact your country’s Samsung support first to confirm the local service process and which documents and device details to bring. This is an escalation route, not a guaranteed immediate unlock. Samsung UK’s reset guidance also notes that a newly changed Google password may take 24 hours or longer to work for device verification; that timing is UK Samsung guidance, not a universal Google guarantee.

What to avoid
- Do not rely on another factory reset. Samsung warns that a reset can lead to the Google account check; it does not substitute for verifying the account.
- Avoid paid “FRP bypass” tools or account-recovery services. Samsung and Google describe account verification, recovery, and authorized service—not a supported way to skip ownership checks. Google specifically warns against services claiming to provide account or password support.
- Follow the prompts shown on your own phone. Menus, available sign-in choices, and service requirements can differ by Galaxy model, Android version, and country. If an option described here does not appear, check local Samsung support rather than trying an unrelated procedure.
