To make evening TV viewing warmer or dimmer, look for a built-in setting such as Reduce Blue Light, Eye Comfort, Eye Care, or EyeComfort. The name and menu path depend on your TV model and software; these settings change the picture, and the sources here do not establish a way to switch off all blue light on every TV.
Find the blue-light or eye-comfort setting on your TV
Start in the picture or display settings and search for labels such as Reduce Blue Light, Eye Comfort, Eye Care, or EyeComfort. Availability and menu paths vary by model and software generation, so consult your TV’s manual if a path below does not match.
LG TVs
LG publishes different paths for different webOS generations:
- webOS 6.0 or webOS 22: Settings → All Settings → Picture → Advanced Settings → Reduce Blue Light. On webOS 22, LG also identifies Eyesight Protection Mode under Family Settings as the same function.
- webOS 5.0 or earlier: Settings → All Settings → Picture → Additional Settings → Eye Comfort Mode. LG associates this route with 2020-or-earlier generations.
- Eye Care route: Settings → All Settings → General → Family Settings → Eye Care Mode. LG says this page is intended for all models, but notes that images and content may differ by product; check the manual for your exact TV.

Samsung TVs
On select Samsung Smart TVs from 2022 onward, look for EyeComfort Mode. Samsung says the feature is not available on every model, and some modes and apps—including Art Mode and Game Mode—may not support it. Its automatic adjustment can use a built-in light sensor and sunrise/sunset information; time synchronization may vary with location and network connection. If the option is missing, check the support page for your exact model and make sure the TV clock is set.
Samsung’s current instructions are available from Samsung Australia (updated June 18, 2026) and Samsung Gulf (updated June 10, 2026).

What these settings change—and what they do not establish
The described modes make the image warmer and, in some cases, reduce brightness at night. They do not amount to a verified universal blue-light-off switch. The cited manufacturer guidance does not provide controlled, comparable measurements of how much blue light different TVs reduce, so there is no supported percentage or brand ranking to rely on.

Expect a picture tradeoff: changing color temperature shifts the screen’s colors. LG specifically advises checking the picture before and after enabling its options. Try toggling the setting while watching familiar content; if skin tones or other colors look unpleasant, adjust or turn it off.

If the picture is still too bright
Eye-comfort modes are not the only picture controls that affect perceived brightness. If the TV remains uncomfortable, use its normal picture controls to lower brightness or backlight where available, and compare the result in the room and at the time you usually watch. Menu labels differ by model. If reduced brightness and a warmer picture still do not help, do not assume blue light is the cause of discomfort; the settings alone cannot diagnose an eye problem.

A Samsung TV app is not required to use EyeComfort Mode when a supported model includes it. The manufacturer material cited here documents built-in settings, not a universal third-party filter app that works across Samsung TVs.

Blue-light glasses are not an established fix for eye strain. Cleveland Clinic’s April 22, 2026 explainer says they do not prevent eye strain and reports no evidence in current research that device blue light harms retinas or causes eye disease. It discusses possible sleep effects separately; that does not establish that a TV setting treats a medical condition, prevents damage, or reliably improves sleep.
