Yes. You can set a scheduled YouTube live stream to send viewers to a Premiere when the stream ends. In YouTube Studio, edit the scheduled stream and choose the Premiere under Customization > Redirect. YouTube’s documented destination is a Premiere video—not a playlist itself—so schedule the video as a Premiere first, even if it is also included in a playlist.
What Live Redirect does—and what “playlist Premiere” means
Live Redirect can move viewers from an ended live stream to a selected Premiere or another channel’s live stream. YouTube describes the handoff as autoplaying the selected destination after the source stream ends. YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions do not describe a playlist as a redirect destination. A Premiere is a scheduled video release with its own public watch page; viewers can visit that page beforehand, set a reminder, comment, and chat. YouTube’s Premiere instructions explain how to schedule one.
If the Premiere video is part of a playlist, you can still select the Premiere as the redirect target. The handoff is to that scheduled video, not to the playlist as a whole.
Check eligibility before setting it up
According to YouTube Help, the creator sending a redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. Redirecting viewers to your own Premiere does not require another channel’s permission. Sending them to another channel’s live stream does: that channel must allow the redirect through YouTube Studio. Check YouTube’s current Live Redirect requirements if your account or Studio interface differs.

Set up the Premiere and redirect
- Create the destination first. Upload the video in YouTube Studio, schedule its date and time, and set it as a Premiere. YouTube creates a public watch page before the Premiere begins. Confirm that the Premiere is scheduled for the time you intend viewers to arrive.
- Open the scheduled source stream. In YouTube Studio, select Content, then Live. Find the scheduled live stream and open its editing controls.
- Select the destination. Open Customization. Under Redirect, choose Add and select the scheduled Premiere. Review the selected destination before saving or leaving the page.
- End the source stream deliberately. When you end it, check YouTube’s confirmation that viewers will be redirected. Follow the on-screen confirmation rather than assuming the destination was selected correctly.
- Prepare viewers for the handoff. Tell them to wait a few seconds after the live stream ends while the Premiere loads. YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere before the live stream.
The exact labels available in Studio can vary by locale. If the controls differ, use the current settings shown in your account and YouTube’s Live Redirect help page.
What viewers should expect
YouTube documents an autoplay handoff after the source stream ends, but it does not guarantee that every viewer on every playback setup will transition without action. In a May 3, 2022 announcement, TeamYouTube noted that viewers with autoplay disabled would need to press play. Treat that as a useful caveat, not a guarantee about every current device or client. If the transition matters, test it in the viewing setup your audience is likely to use and tell viewers they may need to start the Premiere themselves. TeamYouTube’s announcement provides that historical context.

Troubleshooting a redirect that does not work
- The Premiere is missing from the destination list: Confirm that it has been scheduled as a Premiere and that you are editing the correct source stream. YouTube recommends creating the Premiere before the live stream.
- The Redirect controls are unavailable: Check the eligibility rules in YouTube Help: the sending creator needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes.
- Viewers do not arrive at the Premiere automatically: Allow a few seconds for the transition. Autoplay settings can affect whether a viewer must press play; the 2022 TeamYouTube announcement specifically identified autoplay-disabled viewers.
- You selected another channel’s live stream: Ask that channel to allow redirects in YouTube Studio. Permission is required for that destination type.
- The interface labels do not match these steps: Studio labels can vary by locale. Check the current Live Redirect help page and the settings displayed in your account.
